The cat said, "Guess where the lock-picking expert is?"
Ren Shuai paused for a moment, then said, "I can't guess."
The cat looked at him strangely, "I didn't ask you to guess. Just guess blindly, it's okay if you guess wrong."
Ren Shuai pursed his lips. For a meticulous soldier, guessing blindly was simply fatal.
After a while, he managed to say with difficulty, "Prison?"
The cat was satisfied. "Then I'll go to jail."
Upon hearing this, Ren Shuai immediately said, "What? You're going to jail? That's dangerous!"
Cat was busy preparing on her own. She looked into the distance, slightly adjusted her route, and said, "Everyone is already here, so there's no danger or anything, it's all the same."
As she spoke, the cat handed her laser gun to Ren Shuai. "This is a laser gun. Use it carefully, don't kill yourself. Its range is relatively short. However, don't worry, the invisibility spell on you will be lifted in two hours."
You shouldn't need to engage in any intense fighting. After you leave the base, head west up the hillside and wait for me there.
Ren Shuai glanced at the small, pen-like laser gun and was shocked. Laser guns are rare and precious; in their unit, only special departments are equipped with them.
He knew about it, but had never used it. He checked the launching device and immediately understood that he could not possibly have misjudged the launching direction.
"Wait a minute, it's too dangerous for you to go alone. I'll go with you."
Just as the cat was about to jump down, it turned back upon hearing this. "Whether you're there or not makes no difference to me. You can go on your way."
Although those words were a bit hurtful, Ren Shuai wasn't the kind of person to hold grudges. The fact that Maomao was able to break in all by herself and cause a disturbance showed that she herself was very strong.
Ren Shuai believed her, but he said, "As long as I'm not dead, I should continue to complete my mission. Retrieving the box is my duty. Now that you are my savior and my comrade, I can't possibly run away and let you go."
He said very seriously, "There's no need to say anything more. I don't want to run for my life. Let's go."
The cat looked at him, and seeing the determination in his words, she couldn't help but ask, "Is your body capable?"
Ren Shuai said, "As long as we don't die, we'll be fine. Let's go. The patrol just left, so let's take advantage of this moment."
As he spoke, Ren Shuai grabbed a tree branch, intending to swing down from between the branches. Although it was high, he was confident he could make it down.
However, the cat suddenly grabbed him by the back of his collar and jumped down with him.
Ren Shuai: "..."
For the first time in his life, he was carried away.
The cat seemed to accept his following, and she had already slipped along the wall and headed north.
Ren Shuai didn't have time to think about anything else and went along too.
The base has many sentry posts, and because there is no communication signal, patrols are particularly frequent. However, whether they are caught in the light of searchlights or encounter the patrol team head-on, they handle it all with ease.
Because of an invisibility spell, Ren Shuai seems to have opened the door to a new world; this is too arrogant...
Cat was fast, but Ren Shuai was not far behind. The soldier's willpower was extraordinary, and he forgot the pain in his body once he started moving.
Besides, the serious injuries have already healed, so there's even less of a burden.
Half an hour later, they arrived at the location of the prison.
In a large courtyard, there was a prison on one side and three other houses filled with soldiers. There were three squads of soldiers patrolling, and about three hundred people were sleeping.
The prison looked rather rough on the outside, but the inside was also very sturdy and difficult to enter.
There are several gates, and in addition to the guards, there are three more gates.
The cat crouched against the wall, trying to think of a solution.
The prison didn't even have a ventilation opening, and even if it did, it was as small as a chimney and impossible to get into.
Ren Shuai glanced at the cat but didn't say anything, because there was a group of soldiers just two meters away from them.
After a while, two men came over. They looked like officers or something similar and went straight to the prison.
Cat immediately stood up, waved her hand, and signaled Ren Shuai to follow.
Ren Shuai tried his best to stay calm, holding his breath and not letting his breathing become too strong, because the distance between them and the people around them had been reduced to one meter.
We could meet face-to-face at any time.
Even knowing he had an invisibility spell, the feeling of being able to see others while they couldn't see him under the light was still a bit eerie.
The guards opened the door for the two men as expected.
However, the time was too short for Maomao and Ren Shuai to go in.
The cat suddenly pointed at the ground.
An officer tripped and fell face-first to the ground!
His companions and guards rushed to help him up, while Maomao and Ren Shuai quickly went inside.
Next, there was the second door. The cat used the same trick again, tripping up the officer once more.
The officer didn't seem to suspect anything; he just kept walking while cursing.
At the third door, the cat didn't trip him up again, but instead tripped up another officer.
"Damn road, it needs to be fixed!" they cursed together.
Meanwhile, Maomao and Ren Shuai had already entered.
As soon as I walked in, I almost fainted from the pungent smell inside!
The smells of blood, sweat, mold, feces, sewers, and decay all blend together to create a pungent stench that can make you vomit up your dinner from the night before.
Ren Shuai held back.
The cat covered its mouth and nose and gagged for a while.
Her five senses were extraordinary, and her sense of smell was naturally much more acute than Ren Shuai's. This breath was simply deadly.
"Are you alright?" Ren Shuai couldn't help but ask.
She looks so clean and tidy, as if she's never suffered like this before.
The cat waved its paw, indicating that it was alright.
There were two levels of cells, densely packed and cramped. Just as they were about to leave, the two officers who had just gone in came out.
They dragged a middle-aged man out; he was filthy and they let him go.
“He was a war correspondent,” Ren Shuai suddenly said, a look of pity crossing his resolute face as he clenched his fists. “He’s going to sacrifice himself.”
Those two people taking him out were definitely going to execute him.
Before he arrived, he had reviewed the recent hostages, and he was one of them.
"We're looking for someone, we don't have time to save him," the cat said.
Ren Shuai suddenly looked at the cat and asked, "If you had time, could you save him?"
The cat still replied, "No time."
Ren Shuai hadn't originally planned for Maomao to rescue anyone; they were already lucky if they could get out safely themselves. The mission was the priority, and the internal structure diagram of the Golden Tower was obviously more important.
