However, the cat said she could save him; it was just a matter of time!
Ren Shuai couldn't help but say, "He has already contributed his utmost to peace. At the very least, his fate shouldn't be to die at the hands of these madmen. Perhaps he still has family, perhaps he still has children..."
The cat frowned and looked at him. "You talk too much nonsense."
Ren Shuai finished his "nonsense" and asked, "Can you save him?"
The cat was silent for a while, then seemed a little impatient. "I'm not sure I can save him."
"Give it a try, at least it's possible, right?"
Cat didn't want to waste time either. Before they left, she threw out a talisman and stuck it on the person's back. It looked like a pattern on clothing and didn't attract any attention.
The cat then went inside.
Ren Shuai looked away and couldn't help but ask, "What is that?"
The cat gave the talisman a name he thought the cat could understand: "Golden Bell Shield".
It's actually a defensive talisman that can block most physical damage.
“As long as it’s not bombarded by cannons, knives and bullets can’t hurt him, but once you take that talisman off, it’s useless.”
"Thank you." Ren Shuai knew he had met a master.
"What's the use of thanking me? He's still in the base, and there's no way he has a chance of surviving."
Ren Shuai fell silent. He focused his mind and looked for a locksmith.
If there really were locksmiths, they wouldn't be locked up in such a disgusting place, would they? How could anyone be in the mood to pick locks here?
They should be in a hurry to unlock it... Ren Shuai felt he must have guessed wrong, so he said, "How about we look somewhere else?"
Cat said, "No need. My two friends are also looking. Since there's no definite location, let's use the process of elimination."
The people in the prison were easy to distinguish; some were civilians, and others were captured members of other armed groups. You could tell just by looking at their clothes.
Ren Shuai clenched his fists, his expression grave the entire way.
In fact, no matter who is captured, his country will not organize a rescue, because the cost is too high and the success rate is almost zero.
They could only watch as one person after another was executed, and then panic spread.
He never imagined that one day he would be standing in this terrible prison, but he was powerless to save everyone.
I've already given the cat a difficult problem, so he won't bring it up again.
After a while, they went around the building and looked at all the prisoners, but they couldn't find a single one who looked like a lock-picking expert.
They returned to the entrance.
Thinking about how to get out.
Just then, a man carrying a box came over and handed it to the guard. The guard then came in, yawned, and walked past them not far away.
At first, the cat didn't notice, but then she suddenly turned around, stared at the box, patted Ren Shuai, and they immediately followed.
"What's wrong?" Ren Shuai asked.
“That’s a food box,” the cat said, smelling the food.
Ren Shuai was surprised; her observation skills were so sharp! "So, the lock-picking expert really is here!"
If it were someone else, he could imagine what they would eat: either a little bit of rotten, moldy food every few days, or nothing at all, leaving them to starve to death.
The fact that food was specially delivered meant it was for an important "prisoner".
The man walked to the end of the first floor, then stepped on a spot on the ground, and a hidden door suddenly appeared. He went down!
Fortunately, the hidden door wasn't very sophisticated and didn't open automatically. After that person went down, the door didn't close, and Maomao and Ren Shuai walked down the steps.
So, there's a prison in the basement!
Clearly, the basement prison was much more secure than the one above, with prisoners wearing heavy shackles.
The guard placed the food box in a room and turned to leave.
After hearing the secret door close, the cat walked to the prison door.
Inside, there was a person locked up, handcuffed and shackled, with a simple table set up, a thick stack of papers, a calculator, and pencils.
He stood there, not even bothering to eat his meal, writing furiously as he did enormous calculations.
This person must be a lock-picking expert, because the cat has already spotted his calculation formula and the blueprints of the box's internal and external structure.
“It’s him,” the cat said.
Ren Shuai was very pleased; he hadn't expected that Ren Shuai had guessed correctly.
However, the locksmith suddenly looked in their direction and exclaimed, "Who's there!"
"Huh, his hearing is quite acute."
They were speaking very softly, but it was clear that he had heard them.
“Mr. Richardson,” Ren Shuai suddenly said.
They hadn't determined beforehand who the kidnapped lock-picking expert was; the situation was urgent, and they didn't have detailed intelligence, but there were several candidates.
Ren Shuai observed him for a moment and matched him with the information in his mind.
Richardson ran over in surprise, staring into thin air. "Who is it? Do you know me? I heard you speak, but why can't I see you?" he asked urgently.
Ren Shuai became even more certain: "Mr. Richardson, please remain calm. If you cooperate, I..."
Ren Shuai wanted to say that he could save him, but he seemed unable to make that decision. He had to listen to Maomao, so Ren Shuai looked at Maomao.
The cat nodded. This person could be saved, since his cooperation was needed.
Ren Shuai continued, "If you cooperate with us, we will get you out of here."
Richardson was ecstatic. He tried to calm himself down and lowered his voice, "I will cooperate with you as long as you take me away from this hell."
