Chapter Ten
Stepping into the kitchen, Mo Wansheng's heart skipped a beat. Why had he suddenly returned?
She instinctively took a step back, but still tried to remain calm. "Why are you back so early today?"
"I finished work early and came back." Huo Yuzheng was stir-frying garlic shoots over a high flame. The noise in the kitchen was quite loud, so he had to raise his voice to speak.
He suddenly remembered something and casually remarked, "Isn't this just as Mrs. Huo requested, to eat something nice?"
Mo Wansheng felt a little guilty.
She watched quietly as Huo Yuzheng placed the stir-fried dishes onto a plate.
Huo Yuzheng turned around, picked up the plate, and looked at her leisurely, "Aren't you tired of standing here?"
Panic flashed across her eyes.
Huo Yuzheng: "Let's go eat."
She said "oh" and followed Huo Yuzheng to the restaurant.
All the dishes tonight are cooked with Wagyu beef.
There were grilled dishes, stir-fried dishes, and sukiyaki was still simmering in the hot pot...
Even the rice was Wagyu beef fried rice.
The aromas from various cooking methods rushed into Mo Wansheng's nostrils.
There is only one word.
fragrant.
She picked up a piece of each type and piled the bowl full of Wagyu fried rice into a small mountain.
For her, who loves meat, all of this was heaven on earth.
Suddenly, she felt that giving Huo Yuzheng Wagyu beef was a bit too kind of him.
But it's not bad that it benefits me this way.
Mo Wansheng kept her head down and worked hard until she was about 70% full before she looked at Huo Yuzheng.
He ate very little, as always.
She feigned sincerity, "Mr. Huo, do you like the gift I gave you?"
To her surprise, Huo Yuzheng remained calm, and she didn't even detect any anger or dissatisfaction.
"I quite like it, thank you."
Mo Wansheng was stunned. Had the battle plan failed?
Not only were they not angry, they seemed completely unconcerned.
This "I like you" is clearly just a polite remark.
She stopped talking to him and continued to enjoy the lavish dinner.
Although I was a little angry, nothing was more important than eating.
Huo Yuzheng gently put down his chopsticks and looked at Mo Wansheng.
She's just like a hamster hoarding food, always stuffing her bowl full before emptying it all.
He had almost never seen anyone with such an appetite.
His eyes were completely fixed on Mo Wansheng.
He learned cooking as a child.
Huo Yuzheng wasn't a big eater, but he did enjoy cooking.
When he made his first dish, his whole family praised him.
But people didn't eat much.
The mother wanted to maintain a slim figure, while the father didn't have much of a appetite to begin with.
Everyone ate some, but not much.
Their praise was genuine, but it didn't give him any sense of accomplishment.
And every time he cooked, she would always finish all the food.
He could even sense the satisfaction radiating from her.
This made him really want to cook for her.
He rarely comes back, but during this month, whenever he plans to return, he leaves work early.
Prepare a dish for her.
Mo Wansheng was unaware that the dish she prepared each time was mixed in with the many dishes the chef cooked.
She would praise the dish he cooked very sincerely, and she would eat it all.
He felt a sense of satisfaction at those moments.
He didn't seem to be particularly discreet tonight.
Since she had given him so much Wagyu beef, Huo Yuzheng deliberately left work an hour early.
He cooked her gift in return.
After a hearty meal, Mo Wansheng still felt a little guilty and avoided Huo Yuzheng's gaze.
But she was still generous with her praise, saying, "Thank you for the treat! It was really delicious!"
Immediately afterwards, she fled the restaurant and hid back in her gaming room.
Watching the figure flee in panic, Huo Yuzheng couldn't help but laugh.
Because she had left in such a hurry, Mo Wansheng was a little out of breath when she returned to the e-sports room.
I ate too much and walked too fast, and almost got a stitch in my side.
She gently rubbed her belly, which was full of food, to calm herself down.
Until the heart stops beating too fast and the breathing stops being so rapid.
Mo Wansheng picked up her phone and immediately sent a message to "Blueberry Cake".
"Hey bro, why is it that some people can receive something they don't like and still calmly say they like it?"
She then sent a picture of a bear covered in question marks.
I thought it would be late at night before "Blueberry Cake" would reply to her.
Mo Wansheng then turned off her phone.
Then, the screen went black and then lit up again in the next second.
It was a reply from "blueberry cake".
"Perhaps he likes it very much."
Mo Wansheng picked up her phone and shook her head involuntarily. How could he possibly like her? She had gone to great lengths to inquire with the housekeeper, Huo Yuzheng's assistant, and her in-laws.
She went out of her way to find out exactly what Huo Yuzheng disliked.
So she deliberately chose to deliver the goods to the most problematic spots.
"No, I'm sure he wouldn't like it."
"Tell me, how can someone lie through their teeth?"
Blueberry cake: "He might like people who give him gifts, which is a perfectly understandable explanation."
When Mo Wansheng, who was holding her phone high, saw this message, she was so startled that her hand trembled and she almost dropped the phone.
She sat up straight and muttered to herself, "Impossible, impossible. Absolutely impossible."
"Our partnership is purely based on mutual interests."
"Impossible."
The more she thought about it, the more confused she became.
The possibility offered by the "blueberry cake" swept over her like a torrent.
She clearly didn't want to care, but after someone pointed it out, that terrifying thought started screaming in her mind.
"Impossible..." Mo Wansheng scratched her hair, grabbed the pillow next to her, and buried herself in it like an ostrich.
She wanted to think wildly, but she also didn't want to.
She feared that once she started having wild thoughts, it would be the beginning of her sinking into an endless swamp.
Emotions are like a spider web; once you step into it, it's hard to escape.
She was afraid that she might actually fall in love with him.
She suddenly looked up when her phone beeped with another message.
It's still "blueberry cake".
"You said a few days ago that you wanted to play 'King of Fighters' with me. I'm free today, want to come?"
If she hadn't mentioned it, Mo Wansheng would have almost forgotten.
"Come on, I have time! I'll be online right away!"
The best way to eliminate random thoughts is to shift your focus.
Let her attention completely occupy her mind, utterly squeezing out the absurd existence of Huo Yuzheng.
Mo Wansheng took out the handle; today she had to show "Blueberry Cake" her progress.
She practiced for a long time.
Without hesitation, she still chose her favorite, Iori Yagami.
This time, "Blueberry Cake" didn't choose the role she usually played, but instead chose the role that Huo Yuzheng randomly picked that day.
She simply considered it a coincidence.
"You've been practicing a new character lately, huh?"
"Yeah, I tried out this character a while ago, and it felt pretty good to play."
"Then I'll begin."
The two were ready, and the battle began.
For some reason, the way the "blueberry cake" was made always reminded her of Huo Yuzheng.
Her reaction speed and continuity are fully demonstrated in the character.
She had never played this role before.
This was the first time Mo Wansheng had seen her use it.
Yet, it felt so familiar.
Following what she had learned last time, Mo Wansheng canceled the post-rock at the right moment and controlled the rhythm.
Clearly, they played much better than last time.
A big "KO" flashed on the screen; she had lost again.
As expected, a master is still a master.
"This is the first time I've seen you use this character, and you're still so amazing."
"I'm really bad at this game."
Blueberry Cake: "You've improved a lot. I felt you were a little lacking in rhythm when using Iori Yagami before, but you're much better now. Maybe you'll beat me next time."
"That's a must!"
Looking back now, Huo Yuzheng was actually a pretty reliable teacher.
What "Blueberry Cake" had been trying to teach her before was probably the practice that Huo Yuzheng had led her through last time.
A long time ago, when practicing Iori Yagami, "Blueberry Cake" sent Mo Wansheng a whole bunch of technique instructions.
She was completely baffled at the time.
The feel of something is sometimes difficult to describe in words.
As she thought about it, Huo Yuzheng's face kept popping into her mind again.
A closed loop has been formed.
It seems she has forgotten her original intention...
"Boss, I'm logging off now."
See you tomorrow night!
Mo Wansheng tiptoed open the door, intending to sneak back to the master bedroom, but she didn't want to run into Huo Yuzheng on this short journey.
But things are unpredictable.
Huo Yuzheng happened to walk out of the little dark room next to her that no one knew about.
Everything just happened so coincidentally.
For a moment, they looked at each other.
Mo Wansheng froze on the spot, her breath catching in her throat.
Habitually, we socialize according to etiquette.
She waved at him, forced a smile, and said dryly, "Good evening, Mr. Huo."
Huo Yuzheng's deep eyes lingered on her face for a moment. Without making a sound, he quietly closed the door behind him while she wasn't paying attention.
He calmly replied, "Good evening."
"It's getting late, Mr. Huo, you should get some rest. I'm going to sleep now!" Mo Wansheng spoke rapidly, rattling off a string of words.
She was almost moving her hands and feet in unison, wanting to escape back to the master bedroom immediately.
"Wait." A deep voice sounded behind her, stopping her in her tracks.
She froze on the spot, her mind still a bit blank from nervousness. "Mr. Huo... is there anything else?"
What do you want to eat tomorrow?
Mo Wansheng subconsciously let out an "ah".
Huo Yuzheng added, "I'll cook tomorrow."
"Everything is fine."
Upon hearing this, Huo Yuzheng's eyebrows twitched slightly. "Anything is fine?"
Mo Wansheng was practically furious. She threw down the words, "You decide!" and ran off, slamming the master bedroom door shut behind her.
She leaned heavily against the door, breathing heavily.
My heart is pounding.
What's wrong with him?!
The fact that he would ask her such mundane questions gave her an unnecessary illusion, as if they knew each other like an ordinary couple.
She took a deep breath and then slowly exhaled.
She couldn't think any further; if she thought any more, she felt like she was going to die.
Huo Yuzheng walked past the master bedroom door, and he subconsciously glanced at the tightly closed door.
He was in a good mood, a faint smile playing on his lips.
He was thinking about what dishes to cook when he got home from get off work tomorrow.
