Chapter 35 The Scoundrel: "Be Good" and "Obey"

Chapter 35 The Scoundrel: "Be Good" and "Obey"

She's like a kitten; I never knew her lips could feel so soft.

Morax squatted by the bed, frowning as he watched Qiao Xi's breath dampen his gloves little by little. For once, Morax felt a strange urge to take the gloves off, but he was always adept at controlling his desires.

Morax paused, then tentatively reached forward and pressed his hand against Qiao Xi's lips with a little force.

Qiao Xi continued to rub against him, and as she rubbed against him like a cat, Morax's thumb, which was pressing down, accidentally slipped into her mouth and touched her wet, soft tongue.

Morax froze, his lips tightening slightly. He stared at Qiao Xi's face pressed against his hand, pausing for a moment, feeling her tongue gently licking it.

He patted the back of her hand.

Qiao Xi seemed to understand what he meant and reluctantly let go of his hand.

Morax looked down at his damp palms, the water stains reflecting off his black gloves.

He smiled subtly.

*

When Qiao Xi woke up, the sun was already very bright. She turned over in bed, frowned, and rubbed her hair. Her fingers paused, and she rubbed it again, realizing that she was sweating a lot.

At this moment, Qiao Xi felt a bitter taste in her throat again. She pursed her lips and carefully stuck out the tip of her tongue.

What exactly happened?

Her head wasn't heavy, but she felt like she'd been feeling unwell before. She recalled everything that had happened last night: a treasure-stealing weasel had stolen the gold coins Morax had given her, she chased after it, met a riddle-solving grandmother, and it seemed like everything that had happened was orchestrated by that old woman.

However, because it was too cold that night and the old lady's words were too convoluted, she didn't understand them at the time and doesn't remember them now.

So who is that person? Why does it feel like they're related to her time travel?

Qiao Xi couldn't figure it out for a moment, and there was no way to ask others right now. Since the old lady had orchestrated the encounter last night and the old lady had no ill intentions, they might meet again in the future. Qiao Xi thought she would ask her later.

She got out of bed, and her stomach started growling. Qiao Xi opened the window and saw that the sun was almost at noon. Had no one come to wake her up after she had been sleeping for so long?

As was his usual habit, Morax would come to see her in the early morning, but now... could it be that Morax left without saying goodbye?

Thinking of this, Qiao Xi suddenly felt depressed. She rushed to the door and pushed it open with a bit of fear.

With a "thud," the wooden door sprang open, nearly hitting Morax, who was standing outside.

Morax took a half step back. The door swayed in front of him, sunlight streaming in. He held a bowl of medicine and frowned as he looked at Qiao Xi.

Qiao Xi noticed he seemed a little dazed; his breathing wasn't quite steady yet. She asked, "You didn't leave?"

Morax looked down at the medicine in his hand, then at Qiao Xi, seemingly recalling some unpleasant things, and asked helplessly, "You have amnesia?"

Qiao Xi: "Huh?"

Morax pursed his lips slightly, walked into the room, placed the medicine on the table, and instructed Qiao Xi: "Drink it while it's hot."

Qiao Xi nodded. Although she didn't know why she had to drink the medicine, she decided to obey. Anyway, Morax couldn't possibly poison her.

Qiao Xi walked to the table, picked up the medicine, looked at Morax sitting next to her, and drank it in small sips.

"It's so bitter." Qiao Xi frowned in pain and put down the bowl.

The phrase "it's so bitter" seemed to have triggered some key word. Morax's fingers curled slightly, his lips tightened, and he stood up to leave.

Qiao Xi called out to him, "Why are you leaving?"

Morax turned to look at her: "Because you've already taken your medicine and look almost recovered."

Qiao Xi didn't understand: "Then will you come back?"

"Return."

"Are you going to be walking for a long time again?"

Morax couldn't understand what the girl was thinking.

He said, "It's just changing clothes."

Qiao Xi said "Oh," and although she didn't know what had happened to the other person, she was just glad that he was back. She smiled slightly at Morax.

Seeing her smiling face, Morax frowned and then left.

After Morax left, Qiao Xi picked up the medicine bowl on the table, preparing to wash it clean. The bitter taste in her mouth lingered. She looked at the bottom of the bowl, and suddenly, some fragments of memories appeared in her mind.

She vaguely remembered something: she had a fever last night.

In her memory, Morax came to find her around dawn, but Qiao Xi forgot the details. However, Qiao Xi vaguely remembered that when Morax was about to leave, she held onto his clothes tightly and kept repeating, "I don't want you to leave for long."

Thinking about this, Qiao Xi's face began to burn. Were these shameful memories really hers? Why did she say these things?

Is it possible that she was cursed and has other people's memories?

Qiao Xi clutched the bowl, hoping to avoid any more memories, but as soon as she took a step, the memories came rushing back.

In his memory, Morax somehow managed to get rid of her entanglement. He left her on the bed for a while and then brought in a bowl of medicine. He originally wanted to help her sit up against the headboard and give her the medicine to drink herself, but Qiao Xi refused to get up no matter what.

She kept saying, "My head doesn't feel right."

Morax had no choice but to sit by her bedside, lift her up with one hand, support her head, and try to put the medicine into her hand with the other so that she could drink it herself.

But Qiao Xi refused, so Morax had no choice but to feed her.

When has he ever fed anyone else?

This was the first time he had clumsily poured the medicine into Qiao Xi's mouth. After choking, Qiao Xi hugged Morax's neck and started crying, sobbing and rubbing her neck until it was wet, saying that someone was trying to murder her.

Morax had no choice but to endure it and slow down. This way, he wouldn't choke, but Qiao Xi started complaining about the bitterness again.

If everything before was alright, then...

But from that moment on, Morax truly witnessed the girl's shamelessness when she was out of her mind.

Qiao Xi said the medicine was too bitter, so she buried her head in Morax's chest and refused to get up no matter how Morax tried to persuade her. The medicine dripped down her lips and soaked half of Morax's clothes.

She was a mortal, and at the moment she was sick. Morax dared not use too much force, for fear of hurting her. But when he didn't move her, she began to rub against his chest and then his neck.

Her warm, soft breath pressed against Morax's neck; the sticky feeling was unpleasant, but he could do nothing about it.

When Qiao Xi recalled this, she was already prepared to jump off the cliff and start a new time travel experience.

She pounded her head, wondering if she was sick.

It would have been better if she hadn't been hit. But the hit reminded her of something else. In her last memory, Morax patted her back like he was coaxing a child, saying "Be good" several times. Only then did she agree to drink the medicine. By then, Morax had been with her from dawn until the sun had completely risen.

Even if Qiao Xi couldn't recall what happened next, she could guess what would happen. Morax went out to prepare some medicine to help her recover, and after watching her drink it, he went to change his clothes.

Qiao Xi pursed her lips, feeling utterly humiliated. How could she face Morax in the future?

*

Inside the cave, Morax was changing his clothes. As he buttoned his collar in front of the mirror, his gaze fell on one side of his neck. He remembered that not long ago, Qiao Xi had rubbed against that spot like a cat, and he couldn't help but twitch his lips.

He frowned as he changed his clothes, then looked at the water stains on his old clothes and sighed.

He decided to ignore Qiao Xi's antics while she was sick.

*

Bamboo Garden.

As Qiao Xi squatted in a horse stance with a serious expression, Morax arrived.

When Qiao Xi saw Morax arrive, her distress was immediately apparent on her face. She frowned, waiting for Morax to say something to blame her.

Morax walked up to her unhurriedly, looked down at her for a moment, his expression and tone as calm and deep as ever: "You remember now?"

Qiao Xi nodded vigorously, looking extremely regretful: "I'm sorry, I didn't expect that I would be so troublesome when I'm sick."

Morax looked down at her, thinking to himself, "She's not just a little difficult."

But, for some reason, he felt helpless but not particularly annoyed at the time.

Morax's brows relaxed slightly, as if to reassure Qiao Xi: "Don't be nervous, I don't care."

Hearing this, Qiao Xi felt like crying: "Morax, you're such a kind person."

Morax nodded slightly: "Now that you are physically healthy, you should intensify your practice. It's time to learn swordsmanship."

Qiao Xi hummed in agreement. She looked at Morax, the winter sun shining on him. He stood in the light, surrounded by no one but him, and he was only looking at her.

Qiao Xi lowered her head, somewhat afraid to look at Morax again.

*

After finishing her basic training, Qiao Xi went back to her room and took out her sword. As she pulled the sword from its sheath, her mind wandered elsewhere. She wondered why she used to get sick and have a fever that would take seven or eight days to get better, but this time she recovered in just one night. Was it the medicine or the exercise?

Qiao Xi couldn't figure it out. She walked out with her sword and just happened to run into Yi Xiao coming to the Bamboo Garden. At this moment, Yi Xiao was talking to Morax in the courtyard. Although Morax's expression was no different from usual, Qiao Xi could vaguely sense a bit of solemnity in it.

Seeing Qiao Xi leave, Yi Xiao immediately changed his expression and called out with a smile, "Xiao Xi, come on, let's have lunch. We have stewed pigeon today."

Qiao Xi didn't have much of an appetite because she was sick and had taken medicine, but the stewed pigeon was really tempting.

Morax rarely had lunch with them before, but this time...

Qiao Xi walked over and asked Morax, "Are you going?"

Morax looked down at her and, as Qiao Xi expected, shook his head: "No."

Qiao Xi gave a soft "hmm".

She looked down and saw that Morax's new clothes had long sleeves, which vaguely covered the bracelet she had given him.

Qiao Xi didn't know where she got the courage, but she said to Yi Xiao, "I want to be with Morax today."

Yi Xiao was stunned. He frowned and looked at Qiao Xi: "Girl, there's stewed pigeon!"

Qiao Xi was also very firm: "I want to be with Morax."

For some reason, she had a feeling that Morax was about to leave again.

As Morax listened to the conversation between the master and disciple, his gaze gradually fell on Qiao Xi's face. He thought of the soft, ticklish feeling she had when she held his hand and rubbed it against her lips that morning, and he couldn't help but frown slightly.

Yi Xiao looked at Morax: "Your Majesty?"

Morax then pulled his thoughts away from the early morning and said to Qiao Xi, "Qiao Xi, let's go with Yi Xiao."

Qiao Xi wanted to say something more to try and persuade him, but Morax quickly added in a low voice, "Be obedient."

The word "obedient" was spoken so softly, as softly as the "be good" I heard this morning.
