Chapter 36 Doing Problems is So Painful "Morax, have you ever been in a relationship?..."

After lunch, Qiao Xi was still feeling somewhat depressed. She often felt that Jin Lan was a wise person, so she decided to go and consult Jin Lan.

Why was Ke Jinlan inexplicably excited after hearing her story...?

The Qianyan Army's logistics squad camp at Tianheng Mountain.

Qiao Xi nudged Jin Lan, looking completely bewildered: "What are you laughing at?"

Jinlan grabbed Qiaoxi's sleeve and said, "You mean the Emperor stayed up all night with you?"

Qiao Xi nodded: "But, it's because I have a fever."

Jinlan asked, "Are you feeling better now?"

"Okay." Qiao Xi nodded.

"That's good." Jinlan breathed a sigh of relief.

His tone was so unusual that Qiao Xi sensed something was wrong and couldn't help but ask, "What's so good about it?"

Jinlan blurted out, "I feel so guilty about it."

Qiao Xi didn't hear clearly: "What did you say?"

"Huh? Cough cough," Jinlan paused, coughed twice, and quickly corrected herself, "I meant I was so worried about you, Xiao Qiaoxi, boohoo."

He spoke in a serious tone, but Qiao Xi felt something was off: "Jinlan, something's not right with you."

"I swear to the Emperor, I'm absolutely right." Jinlan's gaze was firm; he swore that the CP he was shipping was absolutely right.

"Okay, then I believe you." Qiao Xi rested her chin on her hand, having been fooled by Jin Lan. She asked Jin Lan, "I don't know why, but ever since Morax left last time, I've always been worried that he'll leave again."

Jinlan asked, "What kind of feeling is this?"

Qiao Xi frowned as she described, "Because he was always by my side during that time, and then one day he suddenly left. I felt like I was floating on air. Do you understand what I mean?"

Jinlan said seriously, "When you first came here, there was no Emperor, and you were alone here for a long time. Do you know why you didn't miss the Emperor back then?"

Qiao Xi asked, "You know?"

Jinlan adopted the air of a relationship expert: "Because you love the Emperor!"

Finally, he finally said it to Qiao Xi's face! Yay! Awesome!

Jinlan clenched his fist silently, feeling a sense of relief. He stared at Qiao Xi, anticipating her reaction.

Qiao Xi pushed Jin Lan away: "Go away, I was just not familiar with Morax back then."

Jinlan sighed: "You've told me so many stories for nothing. If we followed the same formula in your stories, you two would have a child by now."

Qiao Xi glanced at Jin Lan: "You know that's just a story, and besides, what's with all this talk about children?"

She muttered softly, "I'm still a child myself."

Qiao Xi felt that Jin Lan seemed a bit dim-witted today, not as wise as before. She felt she wouldn't get any answers from Jin Lan, so she decided to leave.

Before leaving, Jinlan called out to her, "Qiaoxi, take a look at this."

Qiao Xi looked over and saw an orange scarf that had appeared in Jin Lan's hands at some point. He walked over and wrapped it around Qiao Xi's neck, saying, "This is a New Year's gift from your brother. When you become an immortal, we'll protect Tianheng Mountain together."

After tying the scarf, Jinlan smiled and said, "If there's still anything you don't understand, be sure to come back and consult me."

The wind was a bit chilly. Qiao Xi nodded. Jin Lan had been thinking about giving her a New Year's gift, but she hadn't prepared one for Jin Lan. Qiao Xi reached into her pocket and found an extra jade pendant she had made. She took it out and handed it to Jin Lan: "I didn't prepare a gift for you, but I have another jade pendant here. It's leftover from when I made a bracelet for Morax. Do you want it?"

"The same style as the Emperor's?!" Jin Lan quickly took it and held it in his hand like a treasure. He waved to Qiao Xi perfunctorily, "Well, you should go now, I have something to do."

He needed to quickly find a rope to hang the same style as the Emperor around his neck.

Qiao Xi frowned when she saw Jin Lan's expression, then smiled.

When she returned to the Bamboo Garden, Morax was already sitting under the eaves waiting for her, quietly reading a book.

Qiao Xi stood outside the door without speaking. The wind blew through Morax's hair at his temples. He looked up and calmly met her gaze.

Qiao Xi smiled slightly.

Morax also raised the corners of his mouth slightly.

When Qiao Xi practiced swordsmanship, she didn't aim for graceful movements or elegant movements; she only wanted to kill her opponent with a single strike.

When Morax watched her raise her sword to the right position and decisively chop down, splitting the firewood in front of her in two, he was slightly shocked. He thought that perhaps he should have given the girl a large knife in the first place.

But now that Qiao Xi has clearly gotten used to using a sword, is it too late to switch to a knife?

Morax stepped forward and tapped her waist and arms a few times with a bamboo pole to correct some of her movements. As he adjusted her, he asked, "Have you considered practicing your knife skills again?"

Qiao Xi turned to look at Morax, puzzled: "Does he feel that I haven't practiced my swordsmanship well enough?"

Morax placed a bamboo pole on her shoulder and pressed it down, replying with a smile, "No, it's just that I think you're also suited to practicing with a knife."

Qiao Xi felt that Morax was praising her, and she smiled broadly: "No need, I quite like swordplay, what do you think?"

Morax smiled and said, "Yes, indeed."

Morax spent the entire afternoon instructing Qiao Xi in sword practice. He taught her some moves and discovered that the girl was very talented and had a good understanding of the movements.

She can bend over backwards easily, and she can easily split her legs when asked to do the splits. Most importantly, she is very obedient and not stubborn. Her physical strength is also better than before. It seems that this girl really practiced seriously during the time he was away.

He clearly loves learning.

When practice ended, Qiao Xi wiped away her sweat, and Morax handed her a cloak: "Don't catch a cold."

"Thank you!" Qiao Xi smiled and accepted the clothes. After putting them on, she suddenly remembered something, so she looked up at Morax and said with a smile, "Morax, your weapon is a spear, right?"

“Yes.” Morax nodded.

"Can I try it?"

Morax frowned: "Okay, but what are you going to do?"

Qiao Xi still smiled and said, "I'm just curious and want to play around."

Play?

Morax gave her a helpless look: "I know."

Qiao Xi's eyes curved into crescents: "Morax, you're so nice."

Morax didn't reply. He extended his right hand, and golden light gathered in his palm, forming a spear. Morax calmly looked at the spear in his hand and handed it to Qiao Xi: "Play with it."

Qiao Xi took it expectantly, but as Morax let go, she was pulled down by its weight. Qiao Xi barely managed to hold the gun up and looked up at Morax with a smile: "It's so heavy."

Morax looked at her gently, a slight smile playing on his lips. He nodded and asked, "Want to play again?"

Qiao Xi held the gun upright on the ground, gripping it with both hands, and said, as if somewhat unconvinced, "Let's play."

"Then you play." Morax said indifferently. He turned and walked to the eaves, sat down, and poured himself a cup of tea.

As the aroma of tea filled the winter courtyard, a breeze swept through it. Morax looked up and saw Qiao Xi raising and lowering her gun, diligently practicing sword techniques back and forth.

Morax's gaze deepened, his eyes fixed on Qiao Xi's every move, watching how tightly she gripped his gun, perhaps developing thin calluses, perhaps sweat soaking into it, and more likely feeling uncomfortable because of its weight.

This gun accompanied him on the battlefield, severing the lingering resentment of demons time and again. In the eyes of the demons, this weapon that had accompanied him in his battles was now in the hands of a girl, being treated peacefully.

"Morax!" Qiao Xi waved to him from the yard, "It's too heavy, I'm not playing with it anymore."

Morax put down his teacup and looked up, only then noticing that the little girl was wearing a new scarf. It was a bright orange, just like her young age.

"Okay," Morax replied. He walked over and put the gun away. As Qiao Xi looked up at him, he said, "Let's go do our homework."

These words seemed to have a magical power. Qiao Xi, who had been full of energy from practicing swordsmanship, suddenly felt as if all her vitality had been drained, turning her into a walking corpse. She looked at Morax pitifully and asked, "Really?"

Morax was puzzled as to why she had suddenly become so dejected. He looked down at her calmly and said, "Really."

Qiao Xi sighed heavily, helplessly sheathed the sword, and dejectedly went into the house.

*

At her desk, facing the elemental reaction calculation problems in her notebook, Qiao Xi's eyes were vacant. Her gaze slowly moved to Morax, but when she saw that Morax was staring at her, she turned her gaze back to the notebook.

This seems to be a quadratic equation in one variable. Qiao Xi scratched her head, wondering what the formula for the discriminant was. What was the formula for the axis of symmetry? Something about a and b... what was the formula for the intersection point?

She blinked, wrote a "solution," and then turned to look at Morax.

Morax frowned. He noticed that the girl particularly liked writing "solution," but for some reason, he had a misconception that this girl seemed to only know how to write "solution."

That shouldn't be the case.

Morax looked down at Qiao Xi, signaling her to continue.

Qiao Xi, however, started talking about something else with Morax.

Anyway, she didn't want to do the problems, so she would procrastinate as long as possible.

"Morax, are you happy today?"

Morax frowned, and despite the seemingly random question, replied, "It's alright."

"Oh, I'm fine too," Qiao Xi rested her chin on the table and turned to look at Morax. "Morax, do you like to eat?"

"......fine."

“I really like it,” Qiao Xi smiled.

"Qiao Xi," Morax said helplessly, "what are you thinking about?"

Qiao Xi sat up. What else did she want to do? She simply didn't want to do the problems.

She pretended not to hear and continued her rambling: "Morax, do you like to sing?"

"...No."

Qiao Xi blinked, and suddenly, she remembered her conversation with Jin Lan not long ago. As if possessed, she asked, "Morax, have you ever been in a relationship?"

This question was originally asked in jest, but the moment it slipped out, Qiao Xi felt a little nervous. She realized that she seemed to care a lot about Morax's answer.

This sudden question startled Moraxton. Instead of answering directly, he countered with, "You've talked about it before?"
