Chapter 152 The King's Fault, He Goes Mad and Slashes at Thunder...

Chapter 152 The King's Fault, He Goes Mad and Slashes at Thunder...

"Kaedehara, Tokugawa, what's going on?! Why haven't you left yet?!"

The village doctor was so frightened by being woken up from the pharmacy by the samurai that he was speechless.

"But it's too dark to walk? Oh well, when the lockdown order wasn't in effect, a patient gave me a Fontaine flashlight. I'm reluctant to use it, so you two boys can take it. Just don't delay your journey..."

"No! No, doctor!"

Youren was so anxious that he jumped up and down, and blocked his way with the little white cat on his head.

"The Wild Wanderer is healed!"

"??"

*

"This is really, really strange."

The reason for his illness was unknown, and the reason for his recovery was also unknown. Doctor Boben repeatedly examined his body, but he still couldn't figure out what was happening to Mainkun.

The edges of his palms were still red, and his eyes were not clear. Although his clothes were thick and there were not many signs, all the signs indicated that the herbs he had given the wandering god had no effect whatsoever.

But the fever just went down, inexplicably.

"Well, it's a good thing after all."

Completely baffled, he still showed a relaxed expression to Mainkun, who was wearing a mask, and withdrew his hand from the inspection.

"That's great, remember to get some rest...?"

Whoosh! Almost the instant he let go, the cat-eared youth disappeared from sight at a speed that the human eye could not keep up with. In the blink of an eye, he was already leaning against the corner of the wall, his gaze lowered to the ground, looking completely oblivious to everyone else.

"Huh?? What's wrong with Lord Wild Wanderer...?" The doctor's eyes widened slightly. "He hates me so much that he just ran away!?"

"No!" Wan Ye stepped forward hurriedly. "Based on what I heard, he was just very... scared?"

He was stunned when he said that.

Who's afraid? That doesn't make sense.

Wild spirits aren't easily startled little animals, so why do they sound like they're constantly tense?

"Mr. Fengyuan, thank you for your comfort. It would have been even better if it had been more genuine."

Sure enough, the doctor didn't believe him at all, and he lowered his head slightly disappointed.

"But that makes sense, it's normal for gods to be detached from human affairs..."

Thinking of Narcida, Barbatos, and the famous actress Funina posing as a god wandering around the city, Mainkun: "..."

This is abnormal; it's definitely because your Inazuma god is too eccentric.

The cat suppressed its discomfort and gently pressed the mask on its face tighter.

"Bring your patient over."

The doctor was overjoyed. "Does Your Excellency wish to treat them?!"

"Wild Wanderer, you've only just recovered from your illness."

Wan Ye shook his head in disagreement, "It's best to be cautious, otherwise the illness might relapse."

[No way! I need to hurry up and finish this mess before continuing to save Fontaine!]

Fontaine is the true love; other countries are merely roadside wildflowers, beautiful but not as important as the main character. Mainkun understood this clearly and decisively sent people away.

"You go too, help him catch them."

"Hey! Listen to me..."

"Hahaha! You can even make that troubled face now!" Yu Ren laughed at the uncharacteristically speechless Man Ye. "In that case, I'll stay and keep you company on the picnic..."

"You go too." Mainkun was shooing everyone away indiscriminately, even pointing at Wanye and making up some excuse.

"He's too thin to hold people down."

Man-yeo, who had been wielding a hammer and hammering iron since childhood: "...?"

Naruhito: "Um, I think you seem to have some misunderstanding about Manyo's strength. Although he can't beat Raijin, he's more than capable of taking down two insane patients..."

"Really?" Mainkun turned his head and compared him again to the human male he trusted: "No chest, no flesh, no butt, short."

Her waist isn't even as thick as my brother's thigh.

He reaffirmed: "Weak."

"Do you even have these things?" Wan Ye held back for a moment, but couldn't help but cover his head and complain, "Sigh, look at your own skinny arms and legs. By that logic, you should be about as weak as me."

Mainkuhn: "..."

The cat ignored them and chased them all away, leaving only Snowball and him staring at each other.

"Meow!" Snowball immediately lay down, showing its submission.

"Luckily, you're different from me; you can't speak human language."

He patted its head to show acceptance, then Mainkuhn took off his pants and pulled out a syringe from his thigh.

Fortunately, it was a wet and cold rainy day, so no one dared to take off the patient's clothes to give him a bath.

Turning his body to the side, watching the needle disappear into his upper arm, Mainkun looked at the many unhealed needle marks on his body and was thankful that the medicine was administered via intramuscular injection.

"The wound heals very, very slowly. If it's an intravenous injection, it will probably be very difficult to stop the bleeding."

He tossed the empty syringe out the window, quietly pressed down on the needle hole, and nonchalantly licked the blood off his fingertip before anyone entered. Mainkuhn stepped out from the corner and placed his claws on the head of the screaming patient.

"Get up, go home, you are cured."

"Kill you—? Lord Wild Wanderer?"

The patient's eyes immediately cleared, and he looked up in confusion at the deity before him, as well as at the doctor and warrior who were pressing down on him.

"What's wrong with me?"

"He's alright, how are you?"

Releasing his grip on his arm, Wan Ye turned his gaze to Mainkuhn and listened intently to his steady heartbeat.

"Strange, you seem to be doing exceptionally well now?"

"Um."

Mainkun could sense that the newly entered demonic remnants were also being attracted by the golden light and calmed down almost instantly.

It's strange. My body is still weak, so it shouldn't be able to hold much consciousness.

That's really illogical.

[I don't know the reason either, young man, you seem to have a peculiar body.]

Orobas listlessly circled the golden light, its massive body curled up lazily and obediently.

[But why concern yourself with the details? When humanity's desires coalesce, they can easily pierce the darkness of the Dark Sea and cause even the wandering demons to bow down.]

Recalling the girl's sincere plea, Mainkuhn felt there was some truth to it.

So when the doctor bowed to him and said, "Lord Noyujin, I want to thank you for your help to Hishimura..." Mainkun replied as follows:

"I was powerless, but your hearts saved me."

"? Lord Wild Wanderer?" The human couldn't understand.

But the cat didn't want to explain; he just pricked up his ears and urged him on.

"Hurry up and bring the next patient over."

"I have a long way to go and won't stay here any longer."

Despite saying that, Mainkuhn stayed there much longer than expected.

Why isn't the rain stopping?

Mainkuhn asked while forcing himself to eat some dried fish.

"I'm going to get ringworm from all this heat."

"You caught it from Snowball? Sorry, sorry, here are some herbs to relieve the itch."

Ringworm is a zoonotic disease, so Youren wasn't surprised.

"I haven't received it yet, take it away."

"I heard that the shogunate has sent people to deal with the seal on the evil spirit, so the day when the storm will pass will surely come."

Wan Ye hummed a light tune, her thoughts drifting along with it.

"Yuyoushen."

"Um?"

"Let's embark on our journey together after the weather clears up."

"……snort."

Mainkuhn did not agree; he simply popped some dried seaweed into his mouth as a thank-you gift from the villagers, then quickly frowned, feeling like he was going to vomit.

"What is this thing? Disgusting..."

"Salted vegetables with oil and salt, ah, this is indeed the best gift they could offer."

"..."

Mainkun swallowed hard with a gulp, then stuck out his thin, barbed tongue in front of them in pain.

"Make them take all the gifts back and eat them themselves. This isn't gratitude; it's murder."

"Hey, you're such a picky eater..."

As long as the seal remains unrepaired, the overflowing evil spirits will cause the number of patients in Hiki Village to continue to increase. For several days in a row, Mainkun's footsteps have been entangled in this village of Inazuma.

An unspeakable anxiety accumulated amidst the sound of rain, but fortunately, good news arrived before Mainkuhn could lose his patience.

"Yuyoushen."

Manyo smiled and congratulated the cat, "The Shogunate people have arrived! They've already gone to the place where the seal was destroyed!"

"!"

Mainkuhn was jolted awake from his drowsiness, his eyes wide open.

"Then can we..."

"Yes."

Two small heads popped out from behind Manyo; they were Choji and Sayuri, one with joy and the other with tears in her eyes.

"Lord Wild Wanderer can now embark on his journey with peace of mind!"

"Lord Wild Wanderer is leaving us again... Waaah!"

"Oh, you're crying again, Lily. This is clearly a good thing."

"This is terrible! Terrible! Who will protect us now that Lord Wild Wanderer is gone?"

Little Lily sobbed as she clutched the hem of Mainkuen's dress. Receiving a response, she felt a surge of attachment and could no longer let go easily.

"Will you respond when I pray to you again?"

Mainkuhn: "..."

"Hey, please don't say things that would make him feel awkward, okay?"

The older brother gave advice like a grown-up.

"As the traveler moves on, all you need to do is smile and offer your blessings."

"But, but—"

"No need to pray to me, no need to pray to any god, Lily."

Amidst the childish bickering, Mainkuen suddenly spoke, offering gentle advice with the sharp fangs of a wild beast.

"Gods are not omnipotent. Sometimes they suffer, they fall asleep, they are imprisoned, they are trapped in prison, and they are helpless. So am I."

"But, but..."

Everything Mainkun said was pure fantasy to Sayuri, and she remained uneasy. "What if I really run into trouble? I'm so scared..."

"Then pray to your own heart."

"Courage, wisdom, boldness... Human fingers, though blunt and harmless, when clenched and wielded..."

Mainkuhn squinted his eyes with amusement, seemingly thinking of someone.

"They can also throw some nice punches."

Full of anticipation and joy, Mainkun swept through the village's sick and went to keep his appointment with the warriors.

"We are the possessors of the Eye of God, and we cannot clash with the Shogunate's army. You are someone who is called a god, and the followers of Raijin will not tolerate you. Let's go! Let's get away from the impending conflict and find a high place to watch the rainbow after the rain!"

Mainkuhn readily agreed, allowing the warriors to pull him by the hand and lift him up the hill, while he spread the black mist like an umbrella, providing them with a dry and rainless place to land.

"That's so convenient, I want that ability too."

Yu-ren held the snowball with envy.

"Don't think about such dangerous things."

"Huh? This is dangerous too?"

Under the protection of hatred, man and cat waited patiently, one day, two days... Mainkuhn lost count of how many times he fell asleep from exhaustion, but the warm sunshine never came.

"The shogunate's efficiency is as low as ever."

Manyo didn't take it seriously, but he was a little worried.

"If this continues, I reckon Hikimura will have a new patient."

“Strange, there are clearly people carrying samurai swords coming and going in the village.”

A friend took out his binoculars and spied on Hikimura.

"Why does it feel like the situation hasn't improved, but has actually gotten worse?"

Despite the rain, he could barely make out a man who looked like a soldier leader talking to the village chief, so he asked.

"Manyo, can you hear what they're saying?"

"Unless their voices are louder than this thunder!"

With a sigh of silence, Wan Ye analyzed the situation for his two friends.

"If the Shogunate army can't deal with this broken seal either, then they'll probably only have one option left."

"What is it, Manyo?"

The cat pricked up its ears, listening intently.

“Of course, it’s a complete relocation of the village. The island of Hachiyū, which is teeming with evil spirits, is no longer suitable for human habitation.” Wan Ye continued, “I guess they will be settled on Narukami Island… because the other islands are also infested with evil spirits, monsters, and war, and cannot provide a safe place for a village to gather. If you think about it, Narukami Island is the safest.”

Mainkuhn: "..."

This is the most unlivable country I have ever seen.

"Oh! That's a good thing!"

Yuren was quite pleased.

"Narukami Island is the most prosperous place! Medical care and education are also convenient, so their lives will be much better!"

……is that so?

Mainkuhn perked up slightly, a hint of joy rising in his heart.

"Turning misfortune into a blessing in disguise is not bad."

High up on the mountain, he surveyed everything with his keen, beastly eyes. He saw children playing and laughing in the torrential rain, figures moving about, and large and small bags of luggage being carefully protected. The first batch of villagers boarded the large boats for migration.

Goodbye, goodbye!

People stood on the boat, waving to the second group of villagers, their smiling faces washed clean by the water, like beautiful sails.

"How wonderful! In this moment, I should compose a poem."

Manyo watched from afar, feeling quite pleased.

"Rain like dew, a hundred hardships cannot break the child's smile, when..."

"Manyou."

His second half of the poem was interrupted by Mainkuhn, and the cat suspiciously pressed down on its ears.

"Why are they heading towards Umijima Island instead of Inazuma Castle?"

"What?"

Youren immediately went to get the binoculars.

"Are you sure you're not mistaken? This doesn't make sense."

[Boy! False Soul! That's the direction of Sea Island, the direction I've been looking for day and night, there's no mistake!]

Orobas hissed a warning in his mind.

Stop just standing there and get moving! Because...

[The shogunate and the sea monsters are opposing forces!]

"Aren't the Shogunate army and Kaijima Island still at war?!"

...

What does it mean to push one's own members, who have no fighting power, into the territory of an enemy leader?

"Wait, it seems the samurai have all disembarked. They're in small wooden boats, are they... are they going to run away?... Wild spirits!?"

With a whoosh, Mainkun left Yuren's scream behind and charged forward with all his might. The protective black umbrella transformed into a sharp cloud, carrying lightning seeds as it advanced. However, no matter how fast the movement was, it could not outrun the filthy human heart. A slight explosion and a dazzling spark blew a large hole in the bottom of the ship, and the villagers' screams quickly sank into the sound of rain.

"Mother--!"

"That's really cruel."

The samurai on the small boat could not bear to close his eyes.

"Although the aim is to smear the image of the resistance fighters and portray them as villains who prey on civilians in the public eye, isn't this going too far...?"

"...There are children inside..."

"Shut up! A soldier's only duty is to obey orders!"

His superior officer slapped him hard across the face without hesitation.

"Put away your weak mercy. We just need to obey the orders of the head of the Kujo family. He will surely lead Inazuma... What is that thing?!"

Boom! Black lightning descended from the sky, stirring up dark waves. The vast sea, as expansive as a grassland, was instantly polluted, its back straightened like a mountain, squeezing out the humans it had swallowed.

"Cough cough cough!..."

"What's going on?!"

The shogunate army leader watched in horror as the drowning villagers slowly awoke on the black earth, poking with oars and slashing with swords, but could not move the stranded boat an inch.

"Could it be that I've also been infected by the evil spirit and am experiencing hallucinations?"

No, but the next second, he heard a soft human voice in his ear.

"Ever since I started trying to live as a human being, all sorts of silly people have told me to cherish life. I like them, so I listen to them all."

A cold hand gripped his neck.

"Sir! There's a monster behind you!"

"But alas, I am truly a fool. Even now, I don't know... what's the point of cherishing a life like yours!!! Die, you insect!!!"

Wrath! Transformed into blades! Slicing off the heads of the living, Mainkun felt his mind was clearer than ever before, and he gripped the helmet of the next warrior with his blood-stained hands.

"Monster..."

"Yugami!"

The two completely opposite calls made the golden light in the half-demon's eyes shine even brighter, as dazzling as the blazing sun in the rain.

"Tell me, soldier, the man in charge of the guard."

"Why do you attack your unarmed compatriots?"

"I...I cannot reveal military orders..."

With a crack, the black mist beneath his palm shifted, and the iron helmet shattered instantly, causing the soldiers to cry out in unison:

"I'll talk! I'll talk! The head of the Kujo family ordered us to kill civilians and then frame the rebels!"

"Why is that? Aren't they your compatriots, the people you are protecting?"

"I...I...uh!"

Click!

"Speak! Speak!"

He flung aside the man's bleeding head and his ferocious claws pierced the other man's shoulder.

"Okay! If he won't tell, you will!"

"To win! To win!"

He immediately cried out in agony, tears and blood streaming down his face.

"More and more people are joining the resistance, and the Tenryō and Kanjō magistrates who issued the Eye Hunting Order can't sit still anymore! The head of the Kujō family feels that he must find a way to stop it... Ahhhhh!"

"I see."

He crushed his waist with hatred, his liver and intestines scattered everywhere, and the black mist transformed into a blade that swept across, leaving only one living person on the small boat in an instant.

The soldier who pleaded for the child.

"Monster, monster..."

"Lord Ye Yushen..."

Seeing him covered in blood, the villagers cowered in fear, too afraid to approach, and stood trembling in place.

"You saved us again... Waaah..."

He was just a law-abiding commoner; how many times had he seen bloodshed in his life? The young children cried out in fear. Mainkuhn stepped forward in crimson footprints, and lightning illuminated his blood-stained crown.

"Lord Ye Yushen..."

Little Lily hid in her father's arms, trembling as she peeked out with one eye at him.

"I'm sorry...you helped me, but...I was so scared...I'm so sorry, so sorry!"

It doesn't matter.

Mainkun reached out and smeared the foul-smelling blood on her small face, then removed the mask.

"Are you afraid of me?"

The fangs were sharp and appeared to be stained with blood.

"Aaaaaaahhhhhh!"

Haha, hahahahaha! I should have done this sooner!!

The scattered bandits, their fear gone, couldn't compare to the exhilaration of gathering the entire group! Hahahaha!!

Driven by fear and hatred, the son of a demon and a human arrived with a maniacal laugh, and a black wind of calamity swept through Inazuma Castle.

"What is that!?"

"Hahahaha! Balzeb!!"

The deepest, most evil, and most filthy black spear shot down from the sky, penetrating the castle tower and reaching the solemn rooftop!

Where the black gun pierced, lightning flashed, and the puppet general emerged from it. Mainkun aimed his gun at her head, his vertical pupils radiating murderous intent.

"The people's misfortune is the king's fault!"

-----------------------

Author's note: This isn't something I made up; at most, it's an adaptation.

The Shogunate army really did that.

In the original story, the shogunate army led the surviving villagers to evacuate Hachiyū Island. Under the instruction of the head of the Kujō family, the shogunate army sank the ship carrying the sick (and no one was healthy) during the evacuation and blamed the incident on the resistance army.

Therefore, Hikimura was actually wiped out by a joint effort between the resistance army and the shogunate army.
