Chapter 46 The Water Dragon and the Wronged Cat, Truly Pure Brothers...

Chapter 46 The Water Dragon and the Wronged Cat, Truly Pure Brothers...

"Do you want me to skin him, remove his bones, and give him to you?"

Leosley could tell that Villette was genuinely shocked and disapproving, which was why she was repeating the nobleman's words in confusion.

"I don't think he deserves to be punished like this."

There was no threat in it, only incomprehension and disbelief.

"No, no, no need!!"

But the nobleman's legs went weak, his mouth agape, looking as if he were about to face a terrible disaster. Leosley couldn't help but want to laugh.

"Ha ha ha ha......"

He did indeed chuckle out loud.

The laughter was completely innocent; the chest simply vibrated because of something funny.

"you!"

But the nobleman didn't see it that way at all; his gaze toward the new duke grew even fiercer.

"It's all because of you..."

"hiss--"

The cat was panting in the judge's arms.

"Sir, your cat—"

The nobleman trembled all over from the shock—

"terribly sorry."

Seeing this, Navelette reached out and pinched the cat's muzzle.

"Your Excellency Cat God, you mustn't..."

"Your teeth are so beautiful!"

— Trembling as she tried to please.

"...? I thank you for your praise on his behalf."

After a moment's hesitation, Villette replied, seemingly calmly:

"Yours is also very similar to the basic structure of human teeth. You must have a very good appetite."

"!?!" What kind of appetite do you have?

My embezzlement has been exposed?

The nobleman was startled, and his face turned deathly pale.

Leosley understood everything at a glance:

"Cough, hahahaha—"

That's interesting! Violet is so interesting!

How come I didn't notice this when I was a child?

"The Duke!"

The nobles were enraged:

"Please allow me to remind you that laughing heartily in this kind of situation is not a gentlemanly act!"

"Haha, my friend, please allow me to remind you."

He didn't want to pay any attention to him. In just a few minutes, Leosley had completely mastered the rules of this noble arena.

No need to wave your arms or throw a punch; victory requires only one sentence.

"Being granted the title of Duke does not mean I have lost control of the administration of Mero Petersburg."

"Huh? What nonsense are you spouting? A mere commoner...!"

Leosley was not surprised to see the disgust on the nobleman's face turn into extreme terror after struggling and twisting a few times.

"What--"

He turned to look at the Supreme Judge.

"How is that possible!?"

"Why is it impossible?"

Navilette wondered:

"I personally awarded the medal to the administrators of Mero Petersburg."

"But he was just an ordinary civilian, a criminal, and a murderer!"

Damn it! How can he have so much real power?!

“I know about this.”

Navilette didn't understand why he kept emphasizing it.

“I witnessed his crimes with my own eyes, I personally tried him in front of everyone, and on a gloomy, rainy day, I personally escorted him to Mero Petersburg.”

"......"

Listen to what you're saying.

The nobles looked at the judge as if he were a fool.

So if you give him power, aren't you just handing a knife to your enemy?

They've gone mad.

They've all gone mad.

The nobles looked at the new duke in horror.

"Your Mightiness."

Leosley gave a gentle, friendly smile.

"I sincerely wish that I will never see you in Mero Petersburg."

Aaaaaahh ...

"Why did he run away all of a sudden?"

Navelette, bewildered, hugged the cat and returned to Leosley's side.

"I haven't had a chance to get Cat God to apologize for his aggressive behavior."

"Mimi—"

A large claw squeezed out from between the arms and patted the Duke's head, rubbing it repeatedly.

"Who knows?"

Leosley pulled the cat from the judge's arms by its paws, and smiled as he looked into the judge's bright, vertical pupils:

"You weren't just standing up for me, were you, big guy?"

"Meow~"

The only response he received was a thin tongue licking his scars once more.

Ah, ah.

Helplessly, Leosley lowered his head and wiped away the itch from the corner of his eye.

I don't know why this plush little animal is so friendly to me.

But it feels pretty good.

*

My brother changed his name! He's now called Leosley!

What a great name! It sounds so friendly!

Bearing Villette's eerie gaze, the Mainkun lynx, its fur bristling, lingered in the human's arms until the banquet ended.

Why...?

Funina is tired of saying this:

"Losing to Navelette is one thing..."

But didn't the Duke go to prison more than ten years ago and only meet the Cat God for the first time today?

"That's unfair—"

Brother! Brother! Brother! Brother!

"Gurgle—"

The big carp cat jumped and hopped in the Duke's arms, licking and biting, rolling around and going crazy.

"The beautiful land of Liyue."

Leosley couldn't control him at all:

"Quickly take this baby rock tortoise back."

"You have been extremely rude today!"

The Water Dragon King could no longer bear to watch, and with a serious expression, he reached into the Duke's arms to retrieve the cat.

"They really lack proper guidance—"

"Meow—"

Mainkuen was thrilled. The cat's shadow danced, its four paws stomping on Leo's broad chest and strong legs, yet it managed to prevent the Water Dragon King from touching a single hair.

“.

Leosley, on the other hand, was stunned and dizzy from being trampled on.

"I'm back."

"I've made up for all the beatings I didn't get in the underground boxing ring."

The Duke was certain that if he hadn't possessed the Eye of God and happened to be relatively resilient, the doctor from Momang Palace would probably be standing here right now counting how many ribs he'd had broken by the cat.

Snap!

Ouch!

"Ah, sorry, I couldn't stop myself."

...There may also be a few stray cats that were accidentally injured by the Supreme Judge when he captured the cat.

"Mimi—"

The half-demon squealed excitedly.

My brother is so big and strong! He looks very powerful and has become a very capable person!

The Duke of Mello Petersburg! I don't know what he does, but it sounds really cool!

Wait a minute—Mello Petersburg?

Her nimble figure froze instantly.

That name sounds so familiar.

Isn't that an underwater prison?

Come to think of it, the name Leosley seems familiar...

"Smack!"

In that brief moment of distraction, Violet successfully pinned the cat down and pulled it away from the human.

"I'm very sorry, Your Excellency."

Navelette felt deeply ashamed and pressed the cat's head down towards Leosley, explaining and apologizing like a parent to a younger generation who had caused trouble.

"Cat God isn't usually like this..."

"It's nothing."

Leosley also generously expressed his understanding, completely unaware that he was the true parent in the real sense:

"I quite like him, after all, you know, there aren't any of these enthusiastic and cute little creatures underwater... uh."

"What's wrong?"

"Navilette".

Leosley looked at the cat in the other person's hand, seemingly wanting to say something but then stopping himself:

"Is your cat student really not allergic to anything?"

"?"

Navelette looked down in confusion and met a pair of teary, vertical pupils.

"Meow".

elder brother.

"Waaaaah—"

So you were the kid in the intelligence report who killed our adoptive parents and was imprisoned—

You were all alone, struggling in a place full of sinners, and eventually became their leader. The process must have been very difficult and not easy at all.

"Meow!"

No wonder he has so many scars!

Mainkun was heartbroken and tears streamed down his face.

Navelette sensed the emotion in the tears and was shocked:

"Does not being hugged by Leosley make you this upset?"

Leosley: "Huh?"

Something's not right, Cat God is acting really strange today.

From the very first meeting, the overly passionate licking, kissing, and gentle biting, along with the unprecedented acts of protective violence, and the two emotionally charged tears...

"...Villet, are you alright? Your face is getting paler and paler."

"Sorry, I have some urgent matters to attend to."

Before she could explain, Violet simply picked up the tearful cat, turned around, and left.

"Please wait in my office for a moment."

"???"

By the time Mainkun realized what was happening, he had already been carried out of the Momang Palace, where he was greeted by the veterinarian father and son whom he had not seen for a long time.

"doctor."

He could feel Navelette's hands pressing him nervously against the table.

"Meow?"

What's going on, teacher? You don't really think I'm having an allergic reaction, do you?

"I've heard that autumn is the season when cats perform a lot of life rituals in preparation for the birth of their offspring."

"?"

The veterinarian didn't understand a word:

"Sir, could you please make yourself clearer?"

"......"

Navis's gaze flickered for a moment before she finally spoke slowly:

"I've heard that autumn is the mating season for cats. Could you please check if Your Majesty the Cat God is currently in this state?"

Mainkuhn: "?"

Navelette's questions weren't over yet; his pointed ears slowly turned red, but he still spoke firmly:

"Also, what is the likelihood that a male cat will go into heat with an adult human male?"

"???"

"Uh... this is quite rare."

After a moment of hesitation, the doctor began to put on gloves:

"Well, anyway, let me check the external appearance of the organs first. Please hold them down, sir."

Mainkuhn: "??? Meow—"

*

"Oh my God."

Leosley waited in his office for the disheveled Navelette.

"Do you need me to call the police for you?"

Navette merely raised her hand absently, touching the dress whose sleeves had been torn into half-length:

"Strange, how can an intelligent life form that hasn't even taken human form yet have such explosive power?"

"ha- -"

The big cat crouched down and followed furtively into the office, baring its teeth at the Supreme Judge from a distance.

"Oh~"

Leosley glanced at the cat whose fur was practically standing on end, then at Navelette, whose calm face held a hint of helplessness:

"I'm really curious about what happened between you two."

"...I think it's better if you don't know."

No! Brother! It's better if you don't know!

Mainkuhn jumped onto the sofa, looking aggrieved, and pressed his body against the Duke's lap, howling loudly.

"Meow~"

Brother~

"Meow—"

Someone is tainting the pure brotherhood between us—

"Good cat, good cat."

A day of frequent close contact had completely desensitized Leosley to the cat's affection; he casually scratched Maine's chin.

"Quiet down...?"

He felt a lightness on his lap and saw Villette swiftly lift the large cat with both hands and toss it lightly onto another sofa:

"The loud call matches the characteristics... no, that's usually a female characteristic, and the Cat Goddess isn't female..."

"We still need to be on guard."

"?"

The cat landed steadily on all four paws, its face displaying a bewilderment that could be felt across species.

"!"

The light pink earlobes and nose tip turned red at a visible speed.

"Awoo, Old Wu, Old Wu—"

Speaking in a peculiar Liyue dialect, the cat leaped up in uncontrollable rage, stretching its meter-long body fully in mid-air—

"!"

The image of the nobles' tragic fate flashed through Leosley's mind, and he immediately stood up and reached out to pull the Water Dragon King.

"Watch out, Navelette!"

The Water Dragon King neither dodged nor flinched, but calmly gazed at the suspended Maine.

Finally! The cat stretched out its front legs and curled up its hind legs!

He completed a clean and perfect backflip in mid-air!

"???"

Leosley slowly lowered his buttocks back to their original position.

He stared blankly at Navelette in her short sleeves, the judge linking his smooth arm with hers, speaking sternly to the big cat:

"No means no."

"Meow—"

"Even acting cute is not allowed."

"N-Naviette."

The Duke felt that everything before him was beyond the common sense expected of an adult.

"What's going on?"

"Didn't I tell you?"

Navette looked completely matter-of-fact.

"My cat can do backflips."

Author's Note: At this point in the game, Leosley should have been wary of Navelette, since he even suspected that Siegfried was sent by the High Inquisitor to monitor him...

This story seems more familiar because young Leosley asked Navelette to find young Maine, and they had some correspondence and emotional connection through that.
