Chapter 25 Is it a fever or just hornyness?

Chapter 25 Is it a fever or just hornyness?

Qiao Shu genuinely believes that Yu Zeheng has lost his mind by calling his ex-wife "wife".

She could barely breathe.

With her hands encircled beneath her, Yu Zeheng's arms stretched across Qiao Shu's waist, as unshakeable as steel, or rather, red-hot steel, so hot it felt like it was melting her. His short hair brushed against her cheeks, the strands soft and smooth, not so itchy as to be unbearable, but she truly couldn't tolerate a 190cm tall man clinging to her like a koala.

"Yu Zeheng, let go." The voice struggled to escape from his chest.

The person on top of her moved slightly, his chin brushing against the skin of her neck, his soft lips pressing against hers, a kiss that was neither a kiss nor a kiss, like ripples of spring water spreading.

"My head hurts so much," Yu Zeheng murmured hoarsely.

Qiao Shu said with a straight face, "I'd rather you die of pain."

Yu Zeheng did not remain still; he kept searching her cold skin, her breathing was heavy, and her body temperature was too high.

Qiao Shu suddenly realized that he had been using himself as a human fever reducer.

After hugging for a while, Yu Zeheng's voice was broken as he said he was dizzy, uncomfortable, and felt terrible all over. His voice was low and hoarse, and it didn't sound fake. Qiao Shu had never seen him like this before, and her anger was extinguished several times.

They simply hugged; there was no attempt to take advantage of the situation.

Qiao Shu couldn't move, and frowned in frustration: "You really are..."

She couldn't think of a suitable word to describe how she felt being held in bed by her ex-husband.

Did you lose your memory because of a high fever?

From now on, you'll sit at the same table as the old man.

Yu Zeheng pressed his lips against her collarbone and murmured, "Xiao Shu."

Qiao Shu's eyes flickered.

The voice trailed off: "...Let me hug you, just for a moment."

I'm so annoyed.

Qiao Shu gritted her teeth: "Just this once."

The person on top of her fell silent and remained still, holding her quietly. Only their heavy breathing could be heard, as if they had fallen asleep.

"Consider it repaying a favor... I'll settle the score with you when you wake up. I'll definitely shove the contract in your face and ask you if you heard the sound of being slapped!"

Qiao Shu pursed her lips.

She thought Yu Zeheng was annoying most of the time, spoke rudely, and always went against her. She had been pursued by boys since she was a child, and every one of them had flattered her. Yu Zeheng didn't like her and was indifferent to her proud face. He had even rejected her many times. What was he to her?

But sometimes I think he's not so bad.

Qiao Shu listened to the rhythmic sounds around her, yawned lazily, her eyes filled with tears, her eyelids grew heavier and heavier, and she closed her eyes and fell asleep.

She vaguely thought that he was a patient.

Qiao Shu woke up feeling hot in the morning. When she opened her eyes, she felt weak all over and was covered in sweat, as if she were the one who had just been seriously ill.

Yu Zeheng remained in the same position as last night, with almost half of his body pressed against hers. The difference was that he raised his head, his forehead against her face, and his nose against her chin.

He used her ice cubes to help reduce her fever.

After a night, Qiao Shu really felt like she was melting.

She pushed him away, not as tightly as she had hugged him the night before. As she struggled, a gap appeared between them, and cold air rushed in. She took a deep breath and felt the long-lost freedom.

Yu Zeheng is still unconscious.

His eyes were closed, his brows were still tightly furrowed, his pale skin was flushed with a sickly redness, his lips were dry, and there were several deep marks on his lower lip, but the color of his lips was unusually bright, as if they were about to bleed. His face was haggard, but at the same time, it also had a touch of fragility and was very beautiful.

Qiao Shu's breath hitched.

I must admit that Yu Zeheng is now like a still life sculpture, every line of which is worthy of praise.

How can a guy's skin be so good? The bridge of his nose seems to rise straight up from the ground, and his nose is so high and straight. It looks so good that it doesn't seem like it grew naturally. Are his eyelashes too long? This face is wonderful whether he's a man or a woman.

With her ex-husband looking like that, it's no wonder she became so picky later on, finding fault with everyone else.

Qiao Shu's morning grumpiness vanished instantly.

She glanced at it a couple more times and then demanded the interest back.

As she gazed at him, Yu Zeheng suddenly opened his eyes. Although they were half-closed, his gaze, as sharp as lacquer, still accurately captured her attention.

He pursed his thin lips, his face was cold and distant, as if he were there, yet also as if he were thousands of miles away.

It was hard to tell whether he was fully awake or still confused.

Qiao Shu's lips trembled slightly, trying to make herself appear more righteous, but he woke up so suddenly that she didn't know what to say to make her behavior seem less strange.

Thinking back, what did she have to feel guilty about? He was the one who dragged her to bed and held her tightly all night; he was the one who should give him an explanation.

"You're awake..."

Her lips parted slightly again.

Yu Zeheng's eyelashes fluttered, and the next moment, he leaned in and pressed his lips to hers.

Unlike the kiss in the rain, it wasn't urgent or forceful, but gentle, like lips brushing against lips, pressing against each other, much like a slow-motion scene, his forehead pressed against hers, gently sucking on her lips.

Qiao Shu's open eyes clearly reflected his face.

Yu Zeheng's hand gripped her wrist, then moved forward, his fingers poking into her soft palm, then forward again, palm to palm, their fingers intertwined.

At the same time, they deepened their kiss.

It was tender and affectionate, and also sticky and lingering.

Qiao Shu was certain that she had been bewitched. She felt the slight wetness as he pried open her lips and teeth, and he slowly probed inside until their lips met.

She suddenly remembered the night before the divorce, when they had kissed like this many times. They had been drinking, and their tongues were still tinged with the intoxicating alcohol. In their reluctant embrace, it was as if the air itself was fermenting.

That night felt great; they were compatible in every way. No one expected that things would turn out so awkward the next day.

No one spoke; apart from their breathing, the only sound was the gurgling of the water.

Until Yu Zeheng pulled her hand down.

Qiao Shu suddenly opened her eyes, and through the fabric, her fingers touched something she shouldn't have.

Even with her fingers fully spread, she couldn't completely grasp the fabric. The fabric rubbed against her soft palms, making her fingers stiffen. She could clearly feel something bouncing in her hand.

It beats rhythmically, like a small heart.

Qiao Shu's brain buzzed. She opened her eyes wide and several "Damn it!" thoughts popped into her head. She swallowed and regained her senses. Without thinking, she pulled her hand away and pushed Yu Zeheng away.

Caught off guard, Yu Zeheng lay back on the bed, something flashing across his eyes.

Qiao Shu's hand froze completely. She got out of bed and put on her slippers: "You're really crazy."

In a flustered glance, she saw Yu Zeheng's completely exposed body, and her ears burned red. She threw the blanket over him and said, "Put some clothes on."

Can he even tell the difference between having a fever and being horny?

Yu Zeheng looked at her.

Qiao Shu glanced at him, her lips red and teeth white, her eyes innocent yet somewhat confused. She gritted her teeth, too lazy to argue with him, and strode out. She closed the door, then, feeling it didn't express her feelings enough, pushed it open again and slammed it shut.

The person on the bed had their eyes closed and heard two thuds.

A moment later, Yu Zeheng opened his eyes. He lazily and casually stretched out his limbs. His throat was burning dry, and his whole person exuded a sickness. Only his eyes were burning brightly, almost manic.

A hint of sweetness lingered on the tip of my tongue.

It was something subtle and elusive, enough for him to savor countless times.

After slamming the door shut, Qiao Shu returned to her room. The first thing she did was take a shower. Her pale skin was steamed from head to toe. As she stood in front of the mirror drying her hair, she thought that compassion was the last thing that should exist in the world.

Especially sympathetic towards men.

After she finished her makeup, she first drank a whole glass of ice water for breakfast, trying to wash away the feeling from earlier.

Aunt Chu noticed her unusual behavior and asked her with concern if she had also caught a cold.

“No,” Qiao Shu said firmly.

Aunt Chu touched her forehead with concern, making sure there was no sign of fever. She said, "It's good that she doesn't have a cold. It's so hard for a sick person to be in such a state. I wonder how President Yu is?"

Qiao Shu gritted her teeth.

That's great!

Not only is he still alive and breathing, but he can also get aroused by his ex-wife.

After thinking it over, she decided that she should slap him; that would be the only way to vent her anger.

Qiao Shu gritted her teeth and said, "Don't worry, it's just a cold, it won't kill you. Even if you don't take any medicine, you'll get better on your own in a few days."

"You can't say that. After all, illness strikes suddenly and he looks quite unwell. Do you think we should take his temperature before he goes to work?"

Aunt Chu wasn't familiar with Yu Zeheng, and besides, she was just a housekeeper or maid, so it wasn't appropriate for her to enter the master's bedroom.

Qiao Shu ate her soft-boiled egg, thought for a moment, and said, "You should go and take a look. I have things to do today. If he's still not better, you can call the hospital to come and take him away."

The tone sounded more like dragging away something dirty.

She has done everything she could to achieve this.

Aunt Chu smiled and nodded, agreeing.

She has done more than enough in this regard.

After breakfast, Qiao Shu went to work. She wasn't particularly proactive at the company, but she didn't take advantage of her position to arrive late or leave early. She clocked in and out on time every day.

Over the course of a month, she reviewed past case studies and, in her spare time, attended departmental meetings and listened to their new projects.

After much deliberation, Qiao Shu realized she had a readily available resource: a connection she had made in Australia. This person had taken a management course with her, dined with her privately, and attended several banquets with her. His company, CN, was an Australian online retail platform.

If the two parties can reach a cooperation agreement, it will be more conducive to opening up the Australian market.

Qiao Shu told Guan Han her idea, and the project was entirely led by Guan Han. Qiao Shu would work under Guan Han, acting as a go-between and assisting her.

Guan Han frowned slightly: "If you succeed, I believe Chairman Qiao will look at you with new respect. When I visit Chairman Qiao in a while, I will also say a few good words for you. Chairman Qiao will know that you are capable. I don't understand why you don't do it yourself?"

"I'm so tired."

Qiao Shu smiled: "Besides, I don't want anyone else, including the old man, to know."

Her years of experience have taught her that praise isn't always as sweet as it seems, and what awaits her isn't necessarily a reward.

Guan Han agreed. She watched Qiao Shu prepare for get off work and leave work every day, get along well with her colleagues, generously treat them to afternoon tea, chat and eat, talk about beauty and skincare tips, and even give her colleagues some conveniences and benefits within her ability. She could get along well with anyone.

Aside from all that, she didn't seem to care much about her work; she was like a bright, wealthy flower oblivious to the hardships of life.

Guan Han couldn't understand her for the time being, and she hadn't said what she really wanted to do. Their cooperation was only verbal, and in fact, only she was the one who benefited.

She didn't know what Qiao Shu wanted from her.

Guan Han encountered Qiao Kaiyu in the elevator. She politely greeted him as "President Yu," and he nodded. The two maintained only a superficial superior-subordinate relationship, and Qiao Kaiyu did not want her to know.

The elevator is going down to the next floor.

Qiao Kaiyu casually inquired about Qiao Shu's performance under her supervision.

Guan Han replied to the official, "It's fine."

Qiao Kaiyu looked at his phone and said coldly, "My sister has never had a proper job since she graduated from school. She might be a bit lazy. She'll leave once she's had enough fun. If she causes any trouble, you'll have to take responsibility."

Guan Han listened silently.

When the elevator reached the first floor, Guan Han said, "I always focus on the issue, not the person. If there are any problems, I will handle them according to company rules."

She paused, then looked at Qiao Kaiyu: "No matter who the other party is."

"certainly."

Qiao Kaiyu smiled, but the smile vanished instantly after Guan Han turned around, and he strode out of the elevator.

He just can't bring himself to like women who are too sharp-tongued.

Qiao Shu leaves work promptly at six o'clock.

She was playing on her phone in the car, replying to messages from her Australian friend who invited her to come to China, saying she would act as her tour guide, showing them around, letting them eat, drink, and have fun.

The car was parked in South Bay.

After greeting Uncle Qin, Qiao Shu went inside in her high heels.

As she changed into her slippers, she casually asked, "Where's Yu Zeheng? Did he go to the hospital?"

"No, the fever has gone down after taking the medicine, and I look much better. I've been in my room all day and haven't eaten much, just drunk some ginger soup."

"Oh," Qiao Shu replied casually.

When Xiaoxi heard her voice, it hopped over on its short legs. As usual, she gave it a kiss and a hug, and then accompanied it to play frisbee on the lawn outside for a while. Watching it jump around like a cotton candy, grab the frisbee, and then run excitedly back to her.

So cute and adorable, it can melt your heart.

"Good dog."

She looked up and saw that the master bedroom window was already open.

After washing her hands and having dinner, Qiao Shu went upstairs. The door to the master bedroom was open, and she convinced herself to check on him out of humanitarian considerations to see if he was dead or alive.

Yu Zeheng was clearly much better. He was lying on the bed, wearing loose gray loungewear, with a laptop on his lap. He could hear voices coming from the computer, and he looked down at the screen and whispered a few words.

Qiao Shu belatedly realized that he was in an online meeting.

Yu Zeheng was noticeably more serious and composed than usual when he was working. His voice was still a little hoarse, but his breathing was more steady than last night. He noticed the gaze outside the door and looked up.

After he felt better, he took a shower. His hair was jet black and fluffy, and his gaze beneath his eyelashes was calm and undisturbed.

"You can continue." Qiao Shu saw that the person was alive and well, and prepared to leave.

Yu Zeheng called out to her, "Wait a minute."

He bowed his head again, ending the meeting.

Qiao Shu blinked her eyelashes: "I'm fine, I just wanted to see how you are. You look much better."

"Thank you. I heard from Aunt Chu last night that you've been taking care of me." Yu Zeheng thanked her calmly.

They're really playing the amnesia card.

Qiao Shu pretended to be confused and said, "You're welcome. After all, you took care of me, so we're even."

Yu Zeheng hummed in agreement, his gaze fixed on her, and asked again, "Did I do anything to you last night?"

Qiao Shu sneered inwardly and retorted, "What do you think they'll do?"

Yu Zeheng closed his notebook and placed it on the bedside table, his movements unhurried. After finishing, he placed his hands in front of him, leaned against the headboard, and said with a deep gaze, "I haven't done this in a long time."

"And you?"
