The air condensed, and dust swirled and drifted in all directions in the halo of light cast through the glass window.

Xie Qingyan stared at him intently, the weight on her shoulders still heavy as if a stone had fallen on them.

His eyes were sharp, like knives, reflecting her panicked and bewildered face.

"Xie Qingyan," Su Xingmao calmly stated the facts, "You can fool yourself, but you can't fool me."

Even someone as aloof as Su Xingmao can reveal a compelling aggression, her gaze sharp and piercing enough to wound her.

"I'm not..."

"If you want to deny it, you can wait a little longer. Going too fast will only make things worse. Also, your pupils are dilated, you are blinking more frequently, your fists are clenched, your shoulders and neck are stiff, your eyes are unfocused, your body is shrinking back, and you are avoiding eye contact."

"All of this tells me that you are lying."

His words were like a sharp spear, slowly prying open her heart and peeling away her mask.

Xie Qingyan wanted to say it was impossible, but when she looked down, she saw that her hands were clenched tightly, and when she opened them, she had already pinched several deep crescent-shaped red marks in her palms.

The hand on her shoulder pinched the muscles at the back of her neck and pressed down. The belated soreness reminded Xie Qingyan how tense she was, like an arrow about to be released from a bow, every string tugging at her nerves.

Xie Qingyan heard the earth-shattering collapse sound, his mouth moved, but he was speechless for a moment.

A moment later, a shrill voice finally escaped her throat: "Shut up! I...I just...Don't fantasize about me, I would never..."

The rebuttal was so pale and powerless that the girl bit her lip hard, finding it more shameful to look into her own heart than into her own body.

Xie Qingyan felt that he had seen through her completely.

Every inch of skin and every thought was exposed to the eyes of Su Xingmao.

This is terrifying; it's as if he can predict her thoughts without her even saying a word.

The boy's strong body took a step forward. Xie Qingyan wanted to back away, but her back pressed helplessly against the door frame. She was trapped in the corner, a shadow looming over her, with no way to escape. Xie Qingyan was so anxious that she burst into tears.

Humans are the most imitative animals, and their behavior patterns will unconsciously imitate those of people they know or have seen. But in this situation, she searched her barren brain but could not find a way to deal with it.

Even if she really had some... fragmented feelings for Su Xingmao.

So what? Didn't he have some ulterior motives towards her?

She remembered the word order in his words; it was that he liked her first.

If he weren't facing off against him, Xie Qingyan would have been extremely smug.

Suddenly, a cool breeze landed on the corner of her eye, and slightly warm fingers crawled across her face like snakes, picking up her tears.

The boy's eyes were dark and deep, the unfathomable blackness contrasting against her pale lips.

His unchanging composure was replaced by a tangible coldness that seemed to freeze her. A stronger sense of oppression enveloped her from top to bottom, causing Xie Qingyan to tremble uncontrollably.

She had never found the constellation Mao as terrifying as she did today.

She was being scrutinized.

The warm temperature was close to her, it was his breath, and his two soft lips slowly approached.

Xie Qingyan felt a chill run down her spine and prayed silently, "Let class start soon, let the bell ring soon."

She really couldn't stand it for even a second longer.

Perhaps God heard her prayers, for just before their lips met, a clear bell rang throughout the campus.

A huge weight was lifted off my shoulders.

Xie Qingyan thanked the bell for ringing, saying she could escape.

Before she could even catch her breath, the pressure on her cheek increased.

Her chin was gripped, and a cold sweat broke out on her back. Su Xingmao watched her quietly, her eyelashes drooping gently like the fluttering of a butterfly's wings.

A hint of regret flickered in his eyes, but then he smiled nonchalantly, a gentle smile that appeared and disappeared in an instant: "Class has to start. It's okay, we'll have plenty of time in the future."

His eyes were thin, as if a fog had gathered in them in winter.

Xie Qingyan felt a chill in her heart and ran away without looking back.

She rushed out the door, and the light enveloped her face again. She almost cried with joy. The damp air after the rain rushed into her lungs. When she stood at the classroom door, she pressed her palm against her churning chest. Her heart was pounding and she could not calm down for a long time.
