Chapter 20 Killing the Chicken to Warn the Monkey

This behavior then spread from one person to a group of people, and a group of survivors tried to break down the doors of any room that was closed.

Although the hotel room doors had combination locks, the level of security was so-so, and the players' rooms were broken into one after another in less than five minutes.

Unfortunately, these players don't trust anyone else and mostly stay in their own rooms.

Once the door was broken into by others, there was no chance to resist. All the food that had been painstakingly hidden inside was looted. Those who came later were unwilling to give up and beat the players to interrogate them. Some were even beaten to death.

The rooms of Xiao Jin and the other two were naturally not spared either.

"Come out! People inside, come out quickly! You have food, right? You must have some!"

"Give me food, give me some."

"Smash it now!"

Xiang Lei held a watermelon knife, and Feng Mingyang gripped a baseball bat; the two stood ready at the door.

Sweat streamed down Xiang Lei's face.

He swallowed hard.

Xiang Lei knew what kind of treatment he and his two companions would receive if the door were breached, so he had to hold onto the door no matter what.

But……

Xiang Lei was filled with despair.

There's simply no way to defend it!

In the blink of an eye, just as Xiang Lei was filled with anxiety, a dark shadow flashed past his eyes. Xiao Jin, who had been standing behind the two of them, bypassed them and rushed straight to the door.

"Xiao Jin?" Xiang Lei shuddered. "What did you do..."

The next second, there was a 'pfft' sound.

Xiao Jin held a long knife, its gleaming blade piercing through the door and embedding itself directly in the back. The person behind the door was caught off guard and was stabbed through the hole.

The sudden attack terrified the survivors outside. When they came to their senses, they retreated in a panic, leaving the man who had been stabbed hanging there, groaning in pain.

"Aaaaaah, murder!"

"Help! Help!"

Screams erupted one after another. Xiang Lei and Feng Mingyang were both stunned. They exchanged a glance, and Feng Mingyang silently gripped the baseball bat in his hand.

As expected of Boss Xiao, he's ruthless!

Seeing that the people outside had stopped banging, Xiao Jin's tactic of making an example of someone had worked.

She then twisted her arm, and the long sword instantly slipped from the door with a thud! It was unclear whether the person was dead or not, but their body slammed heavily onto the carpet with a muffled groan.

That wasn't all; Xiao Jin actually reached out and opened the door.

The once clean and tidy door was now splattered with tiny red spots, and a person lay on the ground with blood spreading beneath them.

Xiao Jin exuded a chilling aura, like the Grim Reaper, his blade pointing to the ground, blood still dripping from it.

As her indifferent gaze swept over them, the people outside the door quickly backed away.

With his long sword pointed at the crowd, Xiao Jin parted his thin lips and said, "Get lost!"

At that moment, a bolt of lightning suddenly appeared outside, the deafening sound exploding in the hearts of the survivors, completely overwhelming them and causing them to panic and run for their lives. In the blink of an eye, there was not a single person left at the door.

As Xiao Jin had expected, it wasn't long before the news of a killing god living in the house spread throughout the entire hotel, and even the few rooms around Xiao Jin were empty, no matter how crowded they were.

Shi Lei breathed a sigh of relief: "Thanks to you today, they should be more cautious after this incident."

Xiao Jin silently sheathed his longsword.

Feng Mingyang, who was looking at Xiao Jin with starry eyes, scurried towards the door, saying, "I'll go take care of it."

Dragging the corpse to the side, he hastily pulled a sheet over the bloodstains on the floor, patched up the hole, and closed the door. Feng Mingyang turned around and saw Xiao Jin and Shi Lei sitting on the sofa by the window.

He casually picked up a lot of food and placed it next to the two of them.

Xiao Jin reached out and picked up a bag of biscuits without any hesitation, while drinking milk and listening to Xiang Lei speak.

"Tomorrow at noon, the seven-day game will end. Do you think there will be any dangers after that?"

Although it was a question, Xiang Lei's tone was firm and certain, clearly indicating that he was not at ease.

It's so good to talk to smart people. Xiao Jin took a sip of milk and swallowed the dry biscuit: "Is it safer to go to the store?"

Xiang Lei remained silent.

Feng Mingyang craned his neck to look down from the hotel.

By this time, the survivors outside had already entered the hotel for refuge. The five-story building was packed with people, who were disheveled and sitting on the ground with the things they had stolen. The noise was deafening.

Unlike before, with so many people crammed together and no manager in place, conflicts could break out at any moment.

One minute your tent is over the line, the next minute your child has taken something from my house. The whole hotel is more noisy than a morning market.

Upstairs, it's 2 a.m. on the 22nd. With only ten hours left in the game, Xiao Jin and the other two dare not relax at all. They plan to take turns keeping watch until dawn.

Xiang Lei guards the first wave, Feng Mingyang the second, and Xiao Jin the last. Each person only guards for two hours. The closer it gets to the end, the less they can relax. Everyone must stay alert.

At six o'clock, just as Feng Mingyang was about to pat Xiao Jin's shoulder, Xiao Jin opened her eyes first.

Feng Mingyang was startled, then whispered, "Boss, you're awake!"

Xiao Jin threw off the blanket, hugged her long sword, and sat by the window, while Xiang Lei lay on his side on the ground on the other side.

"Okay, go and rest!"

"Okay!" Feng Mingyang crawled into the blanket with relief.

After taking a sip of water, Xiao Jin gazed down the mountain and keenly noticed the difference outside.

The water seems to be rising too fast. At this rate, they might not even leave the game world before Xitai Mountain is completely submerged by the surging rain.

Thinking of this, Xiao Jin quietly walked into the bathroom. The bathroom glass was frosted, and from the outside, only a blurry figure could be seen. Should she be glad that the boss didn't have the bad taste to change the glass to one-way transparent?

After rummaging through the space, Xiao Jin noticed the modified rubber boat lying quietly in the corner, but his gaze shifted from it to another, larger rubber boat.

The previous boat was for two people, but it wasn't enough with Xiang Lei and the other two. This one is just right for four people. Xiao Jin took out the hull and inflation equipment, and remembering the two people's empty bags, she took out two raincoats and rain boots.

He threw everything on the floor of the room. When Feng Mingyang woke up, he saw Xiao Jin and Xiang Lei circling around the rubber boat, seemingly inflating it.

He casually brushed his wildly flying hair aside, quickly scrambled to his feet, and leaned forward: "Where did you get this good stuff?"

Xiang Lei's hands didn't stop moving, and if you looked closely, you could see that he was also a little happy: "It was hidden by Xiao Jin before. We saw that the situation outside wasn't good."

Now that we have this, once the water rises to the upper levels, we can immediately board the boats and take refuge.

"Wow!" Feng Mingyang rubbed his hands together and quickly came to help: "Boss, you're amazing! You even have such good stuff. But..." A hint of doubt appeared in Feng Mingyang's eyes: "At a time like this, do we still need to make such thorough preparations?"

Xiao Jin: "It's just a precaution!"
