day5
[Turbid Nutrient Solution] +1, [Basic Antidote] +1, Poison Making Talent ↑.
Xia Ning downed a bottle of [Basic Nutrient Solution] and then contributed a bottle of [Basic Antidote] to Greta's mother.
The number of online players remained at 8. It seemed that the trial in the square had frightened the other players, at least Xia Ning had not heard any news from other players.
Xia Ning silently looked at her [status] —
moderate poisoning
You lose 20 stamina points every day.
Is this a kind of alternative shrinking circle?
Xia Ning thought that those players who were trying to find a secluded corner to survive for 30 days were probably getting restless.
-
Greta's mother has entered a long "recovery period," and in reality, all Xia Ning can do now is to prevent her condition from worsening.
Greta was naturally more concerned about her mother's health than anyone else.
She even cautiously asked Xia Ning if she could help other cursed people to alleviate their suffering.
Upon hearing this, Xia Ning silently stared at Greta, until Greta broke out in a cold sweat.
After a long pause, Xia Ning said, "Is this your second difficulty, the second person?"
She had pondered how to appear mysterious, and naturally, one had to become a riddle teller.
In a conversation that is vague and ambiguous, if even she herself doesn't know what she wants to say, no one can get any information out of her.
Sure enough, Greta immediately panicked: "I know you've done your best..."
“No,” Xia Ning interrupted her, “it’s not me who’s putting in the effort, it’s you. I’m just going with the flow.”
Greta was stunned.
A curse ravages this rapidly declining town, arbitrarily taking away the precious lives of others. Disaster, poverty, wealth, and happiness are all the will of "God".
Greta couldn't control it; what she really needed was "hope."
When people are in dire straits, any change will be seen as hope. Like a drowning person grasping at a last straw, they will automatically rationalize and beautify it, thereby avoiding all confusion and doubt.
Just like decades ago when the small boat laden with gold coins was discovered.
Xia Ning believes that if she is willing to go out to see patients.
Those who are cursed will be grateful to her.
The militia, who would rather die than relinquish power, would then subject her to a new round of "trials."
In fact, a simple glance at history books reveals that religious changes are always accompanied by political turmoil.
Greta eagerly stayed by Xia Ning's side every day, only daring to steal glances at the owl sister.
In the stillness of the night, Greta would quietly raise the feather that belonged to the embodiment of the gray mist and ask herself a question.
Why did the gray fog choose her?
-
"Is the guardian stone you mentioned really here?"
The man in coarse linen clothes asked impatiently, after all, he had been drinking foul water for three days, and even a water purifier couldn't cleanse his mind.
Lauren said, "Yes, the key is right here."
The player with the ID "FaFaFa" frowned: "Key? Wasn't it supposed to be a guardian stone?"
Fafafa wanted to continue asking questions, but Lauren suddenly raised her index finger to her lips in a "shh" gesture, and looked into the distance as if she was listening intently to some sound.
Fafafa subconsciously held his breath, but in fact he heard nothing but his own breathing.
Fafa raised one eyebrow, wanting to scold him for being so mysterious, but the sudden increase in the oppressive feeling in the air made him startled.
After a long while, Fafafa finally found his voice. He deliberately spoke in a rough voice, "Kid, you better not mess with me!"
A strange smile appeared on Lauren's face, and a faint green light flashed in her eyes: "I heard you."
"Hey, stop being so mysterious!"
Fafa swallowed hard, then immediately gripped her [Substitute Doll] in her hand.
Lauren suddenly knelt down: "Grey Mist, please bless me anew! I offer you new sacrifices."
"Damn it!" If Fafafa doesn't realize what's happening soon, he'll have wasted all that time playing this survival game.
He didn't trust Lauren; he had simply overestimated his own abilities and underestimated the unspeakable things in this instance.
When Lauren finished speaking, the wind in the forest stopped, and the misty fog became thick and viscous, as if it were tangible.
A mysterious power surged forth continuously, gathering together like white tentacles that wrapped around FaFaFa's body, tightening their grip.
At the same time, green lights rose up, like fireflies, and flew to various parts of the forest.
Before Lauren could even feel ecstatic, he suddenly felt a chill in his chest, and then looked down in disbelief at the gaping hole in his chest.
Fafafa pulled back his longsword, looked at his empty inventory slot, and spat out a mouthful of saliva.
"Damn it, not only did you waste my time, you also destroyed one of my key items. I'll make you pay!"
Fafafa stared at the corpse on the ground and gritted his teeth, saying, "Use the skill [Disguise]."
-
The flickering firelight illuminated the bluestone path, casting long, slanted shadows, while the evening wind was icy cold.
Standing at the front was the militia captain, Aug. The rest of the group slowly gathered around Lauren in a circle, while Greta stood outside the circle, seemingly wanting to say something but holding back.
Aug said coldly, "Where have you been these past few days?" He seemed less like he was asking and more like he already knew the answer and was waiting for the verdict to be announced.
Fafafa glanced around at everyone's expressions and said, "I've been kidnapped by a stranger."
As soon as he spoke, the militia erupted into a commotion, whispering amongst themselves, after all, they had just tried a stranger the day before.
That stranger was not afraid of fire and was a true demon, yet he was punished by "God" in full view of everyone.
Aug coughed twice loudly and raised his right hand to signal everyone to be quiet.
He demanded sharply, "If you hadn't sneaked away, how could you have been kidnapped? Tell me why you ran into the forest."
Fafafa, sporting Lauren's appearance, raised his hands and exclaimed, "I heard God's call!"
Aug finally couldn't help but laugh; it was the smile of a victor.
"Do you know who the last person to say that was? It was a priest! Do you know what happened to priests? He died in the church today! His body was rotting!"
Aug looked around at everyone and said with a regretful yet smug tone, "Old Father, you always proclaimed that the Gray Fog was our only chance, but what happened? This devout believer of the Gray Fog died without any dignity."
Then, Aug's gaze swept sharply towards "Lauren".
"His bedmate claimed that Lauren had long wanted to join those defectors, and that it was not some divine calling at all."
Aug stared intently at Lauren, like an eagle eyeing its prey.
“You are not Lauren, you are a devil in human skin,” Aug said firmly.
