Li Xian had brought an umbrella, but the rain was so heavy that it was like hail. Xu Nuo hid under his umbrella, not knowing where to put her feet.
Her white shoes were covered in black mud.
Li Xian handed her the umbrella and squatted down in front of her: "Get on."
Xu Nuo said, "I'll walk by myself."
"You can't walk fast, and the rain will get heavier."
Xu Nuo didn't care about anything else and climbed onto his back. He carried her securely and reached out to her, saying, "Give me the umbrella."
She was worried that it would be inconvenient for him to carry her with one hand and the umbrella with the other, so she said, "I'll carry it."
Just then, a bolt of lightning struck, and Xu Nuo flinched. Li Xian looked worried, reached out and pulled the umbrella over her head.
She shrank back, resting her chin on his shoulder, her view completely blocked by the umbrella.
I couldn't see anything, except that the rain was pouring down and the occasional thunder was both close and loud.
She lay on his back, her arms wrapped around his neck, and could hear his slightly rapid breathing.
With a touch of caution, afraid of disturbing her.
He walked quickly and steadily.
Gradually, she became drowsy.
The rain showed no sign of stopping or lessening, and Li Xian moved through the forest like a cheetah, stepping carefully and steadily.
I don't know how much time passed, but then his voice rang in my ears: "We've arrived."
Xu Nuo opened her eyes.
We've arrived at Li Xian's house.
His home is at the foot of the mountain, and this is the closest place to him if you go down the mountain road.
He said, "You can't be seen like this."
She was soaking wet and being carried on someone's back; if anyone in Luxian Village saw her like that, it would be quite a spectacle.
He doesn't care about his reputation, but she can't.
The rain was so heavy that he was soaked from head to toe, except for his back.
Xu Nuo was alright; her head and face were completely covered, but her clothes, shoes, and socks were all wet.
He put her down and said, "I'll go boil some water."
He carried two large buckets of water and lit firewood. When he came out to call her, he suddenly felt a lump in his throat.
His gaze snapped away as if burned, his eyelashes trembling slightly.
Xu Nuo took off her shoes and socks, revealing her fair and delicate feet on the rough ground.
Just as she was about to walk towards him, she took a step and exclaimed "Ah!"
Li Xian strode over and said urgently, "Don't step on it."
The ground was uneven, with many small pebbles and sawdust left over from his carpentry work.
He picked the person up with one hand and placed them on a chair next to the stove.
Seeing her barefoot on the ground, he pursed his lips, squatted down, grasped her incredibly thin ankles, and moved her to a stool.
Xu Nuo hugged her knees and shrank back, shrinking herself into a small ball, and asked him, "Aren't you going to sit?"
Li Xian shook his head.
The firewood burned brightly, and Xu Nuo felt a warmth. The sudden change from hot to cold made her shiver.
Her eyes were misty, and her soft lips were slightly pouting, making her look like a little kitten shaking off water.
Li Xian couldn't help but twitch the corner of his mouth.
Xu Nuo grabbed him, tilted her head back, her eyes wet with tears: "Hurry up and change your clothes."
He still has injuries, and with wet clothes on his body, the wounds will become infected.
He nodded: "Okay."
He turned and went out, then came back in with a blanket and handed it to her: "Cover yourself with this, the water isn't boiling."
Seeing her staring at his wet clothes, he said, "I'll go change right away."
He quickly walked out and took off his wet clothes in a few moments outside the door.
The gauze on the wound was completely soaked, and blood seeped through his arms and waist.
When the tractor overturned, he shielded her with his body, and his wounds had already reopened.
Xu Nuo called out, "Li Xian."
He stood at the doorway, only peeking his head in: "What's wrong?"
Xu Nuo looked at the head in the doorway and found it inexplicably funny. She said in a soft voice, "Come in, let me see your wound."
Li Xian immediately pulled his head back, resolutely refusing: "No need."
"Your wound has reopened, hasn't it?"
"No."
Xu Nuoxin was a fool to believe him. She said, "Come in quickly, or I'm leaving."
Just as Li Xian was about to run back to his room and close the door, he heard her say, "I stepped on something and I'm hurt."
Li Xian felt that she was lying.
Xu Nuo said in a soft voice, whimpering as she pretended to cry, "I'm bleeding."
Li Xian turned and went inside: "Where?"
Xu Nuo smiled smugly.
Her fair toes twitched playfully as she reached out to him, saying, "Come here, let me help you change your dressing."
Li Xian didn't move: "No need, I have medicine."
Xu Nuo made a move to step down, and he immediately took two steps forward and stood in front of her.
She patted the stool: "Sit down."
Li Xian sat down, his body ramrod straight, like a clock.
She reached out, but didn't know how to take it apart.
I don't know where to start.
Li Xian turned his head and said, "You'll be scared if you see this."
Xu Nuo ignored his threats: "Stop talking nonsense, tear it down."
Li Xian pursed his lips and removed the gauze from his arm without saying a word.
Xu Nuo was indeed startled. She exclaimed "Eek!" and covered the area with the handkerchief in her hand.
A rich floral fragrance spread out.
Li Xian's breathing quickened, his mind disturbed by the sweet scent emanating from her.
Xu Nuo, unaware of what was happening, reached out and touched his waist: "Take this off too."
Li Xian shook his head firmly.
Xu Nu pouted unhappily and pleaded with him in a soft voice, "Do I really have to take it apart myself?"
Li Xian's brow twitched, and he opened his mouth to say, "I can do it myself..."
Xu Nuo reached her hand towards his waist.
Li Xian gritted his teeth: "I'll dismantle it."
Xu Nuo's eyes were full of laughter as she deliberately teased him, "I didn't do anything inappropriate to you, so why do you look like you've been taken advantage of?"
His usually expressionless face was now flushed crimson, as if it were about to bleed. He glanced at her as if he'd seen a ghost, then quickly turned his head away.
Only one bright red ear was left.
Xu Nuo blushed a little at his antics, poured some more herbal water into the handkerchief, and tied it to his arm.
She only had this one towel, which she brought to wash her face. Once it was used up, she would run out. She poked Li Xian on the back: "Do you have a handkerchief?"
Li Xian paused for a moment, then nodded.
A moment later, Xu Nuo looked at the familiar handkerchief and asked in surprise, "You still kept it?"
The speaker may not have meant anything by it, but the listener took it to heart. Li Xian gave her a deep look and hummed in response.
Xu Nuo's attention had already shifted to the wound on his waist.
It cracked.
Too.
She was completely unharmed despite the two-meter-deep haystack.
She didn't speak, poured the herbal water from the thermos onto a handkerchief, gritted her teeth, and pressed her hands over his wound.
His body trembled slightly.
Xu Nuo kept his head down, and his fingertips gently tapped the top of her head twice.
She didn't look up, and said in a muffled voice, "What?"
A sigh came from above. Li Xian's fingertips fell and gently stroked her cheek, softly wiping away the tear. He said, "Don't cry, I'm fine."
Xu Nuo's eyes were red as she looked up at him, her voice trembling with tears: "I'm sorry."
He placed his hand on her head and gently stroked it.
He said, "Nonsense."
Tears welled in Xu Nuo's eyes, and he wiped them away with a mixture of helplessness and pity. Seeing that her nose was red, he couldn't help but gently touch it.
My heart softened completely.
Your nose is red from crying, Nuonuo.
