The two marked areas remained the same as before, which disappointed Xu Nuo a little. However, she was not discouraged, after all, only a short while had passed.
Li Xian didn't go to work; he sat in the courtyard making crossbows.
His face was serious, but his eyes were not as focused and attentive as usual.
My gaze fell on her without my noticing. She was sitting on a small stool, sometimes looking at her palms, sometimes staring at the place where the red beans were planted.
A sharp pain shot through his palm, and blood rolled down. Only then did he come to his senses and pinch his palm in frustration.
She exclaimed in surprise, "Li Xian, you're injured!"
He put down the knife and said calmly, "It's nothing."
Then he stood up, walked to the well, scooped up some water, and rinsed himself clean.
The cut was rather deep, but he remained unfazed, showing no intention of intervening.
Xu Nu frowned at him: "Take care of it, look at all the blood."
He pursed his lips and put his hands behind his back: "It'll be over in a bit, you... continue watching the beans."
Xu Nuo, however, said, "Give me the water, and I'll help you wash."
Li Xian threw the water ladle back into his hand: "No need."
But he encountered the extremely difficult and spoiled Xu Nuo. She glared at him with dissatisfaction and pleaded with him in a voice like a cat: "Hurry up, hurry up, it's just asking you to get some water."
Li Xian's ear tips instantly turned as red as if they were about to bleed.
“You…” he said in a deliberately cold voice, “Fine, what kind of behavior is this?”
Xu Nuo knew he was faking it, so she pouted and grumbled at him, "Hurry up, Li Xian, my legs hurt, I can't walk."
His jaw clenched slightly, and the thought of her pestering others like this made his face turn ashen, and he clenched his fists tightly.
Xu Nu pouted and said to him in a plaintive voice, "Hurry up, or I'll get angry, I'll really get angry, sob sob sob."
She covered her face and pretended to cry. Li Xian thought it was terrible and scooped up a ladle of water for her.
Xu Nuo gave a smug hum, then pointed to the kitchen and said, "I'm thirsty, can you get me some water?"
Li Xian fled to the kitchen and took the water she hadn't finished from the small wooden table.
It had already gone cold, so he added some hot water.
Xu Nuo tossed aside the water Li Xian scooped up, clenched her handkerchief tightly, and after a moment, the handkerchief was soaked with water that smelled of flowers and herbs.
She smiled as she watched Li Xian bring out the water. He said, "Water."
Xu Nuo took a sip from his hand and then said, "Give me your hand."
Li Xian pursed his lips and reached out.
The bleeding hasn't stopped yet.
Xu Nuo made a scared "uh" sound, wrapped a handkerchief around his wound, and looked up at him, saying, "Wait a minute."
After a while, she untied the handkerchief under Li Xian's questioning gaze.
"The bleeding has stopped," Xu Nuo said with delight.
Li Xian was also a little surprised and was about to withdraw his hand when he saw her wrap the wet handkerchief around it again: "Wrap it up for a while, don't take it off."
Li Xian squatted down and asked her, "Are you feeling unwell?"
Her face was a little pale.
Xu Nuo touched her head and said in a soft voice, "I feel a little dizzy."
She privately guessed that perhaps too much floral water had been squeezed out at once.
Seeing that he was still squatting, Xu Nuo comforted him, "It's okay, it's okay, I'm just a little tired, I'll lean on it for a while."
As she spoke, she closed her eyes and leaned against the wall behind her.
Li Xian's gaze fell on the handkerchief in his hand.
Xu Nuo closed her eyes and leaned back for a while, but her face still looked a little listless.
But her eyes were bright and sparkling, and she reached out to untie the handkerchief from Li Xian's hand, and Li Xian let her do as she pleased.
From bleeding profusely at the beginning, the wound is now showing signs of the skin and flesh retracting. Xu Nuo's lips curled up in joy, and her eyebrows curved into a smile.
Li Xian looked at her and smiled, his expression softening considerably.
Realizing what was happening, he stood up and took a few steps back.
He handed her the oil paper package with a blank expression: "Keep it, eat it when you're hungry."
These were the last few quail eggs he had just cooked.
Xu Nuo took it, looked up at him and smiled, "Thank you."
