After drinking the herbal water, Li Xian's wounds healed considerably, and the bleeding stopped. However, some wounds still required cleaning and stitching.
He wanted to go to Duan San's house, but Xu Nuo stopped him from leaving.
Her cheeks puffed up in frustration, making her look like a cute little white glutinous rice ball. She stomped her foot angrily and said, "Are you out of your mind? You're covered in injuries and you're still running around everywhere."
Li Xian was afraid she would kick the threshold, so he reached out and pulled her over: "It's okay, I'll go and tell Duan San to handle it."
He pointed to the mountain leopard in the corner.
Xu Nuo knew the power of the herbal water, but Li Xian was really too badly injured. She pouted and discussed with him, "Then I'll go and talk to him for you."
Li Xian shook his head: "No, you can't go."
The little dumpling tugged at his sleeve, her voice soft and sweet: "I'll go, I know the way."
Li Xian shook his head again.
No matter how she tried to reason with him, she couldn't understand. Xu Nuo glared at him angrily, really wanting to slap his wound again, but then she heard his helpless voice: "That road is not easy to walk on."
Xu Nuo blinked her big, confused eyes before remembering that the original owner had fallen near Duan San's house while looking for Luo Chen.
Li Xian walked up, squatted down, and looked into her eyes: "I'll be back soon."
Seeing that she couldn't persuade him, she huffed angrily, ignored him, and ran to the kitchen to get a drink of water.
Li Xian's gaze lingered on her for a moment, then he pursed his lips and quickly went to Duan San's house.
After Li Xian left, Xu Nuo thought for a moment, gritted her teeth, and squeezed a few more drops of herbal water into the cup. This time, she tried desperately to condense the water, but only a few drops came out.
No more water will condense in your palms.
She put the cup back on, feeling dizzy, and slumped onto the table, falling asleep shortly afterward.
When Li Xian returned, she was still asleep, curled up on the table.
He paused at the doorway, then quietly took the clothes inside, intending to cover her with them. But as soon as the clothes touched her shoulders, he groggily woke up.
Xu Nuo glanced at him and muttered, "You're back."
She was fast asleep, a red mark pressed against her face, her eyes were watery, and her eyelashes fluttered like little fans.
Suddenly, she frowned, hugged her arms, and whimpered, "Ugh, hands, hands..."
I'm numb.
Li Xian's eyes darkened, he rubbed his fingers together fiercely, and took a step back.
But when he saw her furrowed brows, he silently reached out and supported her raised arm, gently kneading it a couple of times.
Xu Nuo's mind was still a little groggy from just waking up, making her exceptionally delicate and soft-spoken. She squinted her eyes and hummed comfortably, "Mmm, be gentle."
His hand trembled, and he softened his grip.
…
The tractor didn't arrive until after 2 PM, as the driver had to unload fertilizer and seedlings, which caused a significant delay.
It was already past three o'clock when the two got on the tractor and headed into the city.
Xu Nuo climbed into the car with a pale face, sat down with her little schoolbag in her arms. She had already used too much herbal water today, and there was no more left to use.
Li Xian piled up the two burlap sacks in the back compartment and said to her, "Sit here."
Xu Nuo moved closer, curled up into a small ball, and saw him take off his coat and cover her two white and slender calves.
Seeing Xu Nuo looking over, Li Xianwei leaned back slightly and said nervously, "It's windy."
There is wind.
Xu Nuo noticed that he was only wearing a thin layer of clothing and asked him, "Aren't you cold?"
He shook his head and sat down to her right.
The tractor swayed and rocked as it drove, and Xu Nuo felt dizzy and disoriented. Several times she wanted to jump off the tractor and walk back, but she had used too much herbal water today and still felt weak and powerless.
Xu Nuo's drowsy head had somehow rested on Li Xian's shoulder. He sat up straight, glancing at her from time to time.
Her fair face alternated between deathly pale and flushed, her brows furrowed in distress.
His brows furrowed, he sighed, and reached out to gently press her temples. His anxious and worried voice whispered in her ear, "Are you still feeling unwell?"
Xu Nuo didn't look up, gave a soft hum, and didn't dare to speak, afraid that she would feel like vomiting if she opened her mouth. She patted her chest with her other hand.
Suddenly the car jolted, Xu Nuo's face turned pale, she quickly covered her mouth, and a painful sob escaped her lips, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Li Xian saw this, his eyes widened, and he turned around and called out, "Master Niu, stop for a moment."
The car slowly came to a stop.
Li Xian helped her lean against the truck bed, gently stroking her closed eyes with his fingertips, and then kneading the warm drop of moisture from his fingertip into his palm.
The little dumpling pitifully gripped his finger and asked him softly, "What's wrong?"
He gently stroked the top of her head and said softly, "I'm going to take a look."
She jumped out of the car, said something to someone in front, and then Li Xian came back and said to her, "We're not taking the car."
Xu Nuo opened her eyes, looking at him groggily: "Huh?"
Her voice was trembling with tears, so soft and sweet that it sent a chill down one's spine.
Li Xian repeated, "I'm not taking the car."
Xu Nuo was feeling extremely unwell at the moment. Not only was she dizzy and lightheaded, but her stomach was also churning like it was being hit by a tidal wave. Upon hearing that they weren't going to take a car, she nodded blankly at him.
However, she was too weak to stand up for a long time.
Li Xian reached out and supported himself under her armpits, lifting her down into his arms.
Xu Nuo was held softly in his arms, and remembering that he was injured, she whispered, "You are injured."
"It's okay." He took her bag and his coat off, patted the car, and drove away.
The car started, and the smell of gasoline wafted out from the rear. Then she felt nauseous and vomited again. Li Xian carried her to the side of the road and whispered, "Put it out."
Xu Nuo shook her head, whimpering, and after a long while asked him, "How are we going to get back?"
Li Xian looked around: "Let's take the mountain path."
What? Go back?
She looked up at him, and said in a pitiful voice, "I can't walk anymore."
Her eyes were wet, and she looked so pitiful.
Li Xian clenched his fist, suppressing the urge to wipe away the tears, and said in a low voice, "If you don't leave, I'll carry you."
If she really went back to the city, she probably wouldn't be able to walk for three days.
Xu Nuo shook her head: "No, you're injured."
His gaze, warm and gentle, fell upon her face as he assured her, "It won't hurt, really."
Xu Nuo pouted, glared at him unhappily, and said with a pout, "Lying."
Her delicate and pitiful appearance made Li Xian's eyes tremble.
He wasn't lying; ever since he drank her water, the pain from his injuries had indeed lessened considerably.
Although it still hurt, that feeling was nothing to him.
Li Xian asked her, "Is it okay if I carry you?"
Xu Nuo didn't understand: "What?"
His gaze fell on her coat: "If I hug you, I'll get your clothes dirty."
He had injuries on his waist and arms. Although the wounds had stopped bleeding, they would definitely bleed if he hugged her.
He turned his back to her and said, "I have no injuries on my back."
Xu Nuo was slightly taken aback, and suddenly felt a little sad.
She looked away and shook her head: "You don't need to carry me, I can walk by myself."
After saying that, she walked forward on her own. The man stepped forward and blocked her way, his brows furrowed with anxiety and apprehension. He pursed his lips and remained silent, just staring intently at her.
Xu Nuo felt helpless, amused, and a little sorry for him.
Her voice was soft, like a feather landing on his heart. She said, "Li Xian, you don't have to do this."
Li Xian pursed his lips tightly and said, "I'm the one who brought you down here."
As he was saying this, he reached out to hug her, but Xu Nuo quickly said, "No, no, I'll walk a little bit first, and you can carry me if I get tired."
Li Xian looked at her silently and nodded.
Li Xian never rode a tractor when entering the city; he always took the less traveled mountain roads. Although the roads were difficult, they were quiet and closer than the main roads.
Xu Nuo walked a short distance, but couldn't walk any further, so Li Xian carried her on his back. She had given Li Xian a lot of herbal water to drink today, and knew that his injuries had almost healed.
It's just a large, gaping wound that requires stitches to heal.
It was not early, and she was afraid that if she walked too slowly, she would waste time.
She lay quietly on his back, her arms around his neck, and gently rested her head on his shoulder.
Li Xian would occasionally turn his head to look, and he could see Xu Nuo's dark and bright eyes. When she saw him looking over, she would playfully smile at him.
A smile played on Li Xian's lips; for the first time, he felt that this mountain path was so short.
Even though we walked so slowly, we arrived so quickly.
