Chapter 72 Move the Bodhisattva down so you can sit on it.

"Bullshit! If a boss has to pay off his employees' debts, why don't you just move the Buddha statue from the temple and sit on it yourself!"

"Secondly, I must solemnly declare that she is not my mother-in-law. You can inquire about the details in Fuyou County. Don't play dumb with me! Based on my grudge against him, repaying the money? You wouldn't even dare to dream of doing that!"

Su An curled her lips, and before finishing, she added, "She even gambled at your gambling den, so why don't you help her pay it off!"

Shunzi was speechless, his face turning ashen. That sharp-tongued young woman was no wonder He Cheng had fallen into her trap.

"I'm not going to waste my breath on you. Brothers, tie her up and let's see if she still won't give it back!"

The thugs at the gambling den never reasoned with anyone and charged at Su An.

Seeing that things were not going well, Su An turned around and ran away. Oh no, they were really coming for her.

Suddenly, everything went black, and a nimble figure appeared out of thin air, grabbed Shunzi by the collar, slapped him twice, and kicked him in the stomach.

"Sword One?!" Su An was surprised; he was actually right nearby.

"Miss Su, hide well, I'll take care of this quickly." Jian Yi said coldly, and in no time at all, he knocked the thugs to the ground, where they lay groaning.

Su An stepped forward and kicked Jian Yi twice, patted him on the shoulder with approval, and gave him a thumbs up in praise.

"Wow, that's impressive! So cool!"

Jian remained expressionless, but cold sweat beaded on his forehead. He quickly replied, "I dare not, I am no match for my master."

If my master hears this, won't I be banished?

"Is Fu Huai very skilled?" Su An asked curiously.

Jian Yi nodded sincerely in admiration: "Master has practiced martial arts since childhood, and it is no problem for him to fight ten people at once. None of our secret guards can beat Master."

He racked his brains to describe Fu Huai's strength, but the admiration on Su An's face was gradually replaced by heartache.

Fu Huai was so amazing. He should have had a proud and illustrious life, but now he is trapped in a small wheelchair.

Anyone would feel resentful.

Su An was in low spirits, and Jian Yi, unaware of the reason, silently continued to remain invisible.

She returned home dejectedly, and the thought of the cancer in her family gave her a headache. She felt more at ease with Fu Huai's place.

Who knew that Madam He would pull another stunt, kneeling before Li Guihua and crying out in a hoarse voice.

“If I’m kicked out, I won’t be able to live! They kill people all the time, they never listen to reason or sympathy, they only care about money! Guihua, you’re the kindest one, you can’t just watch me die!”

“This…” Li Guihua frowned, feeling reluctant to do so.

He Wangshi spoke with such sorrow that one might think she was being persecuted, and at the end she even subtly mentioned Su An.

“I know Xiao An doesn’t like me, so I’ll try my best to please her and not make things difficult for you. I’ll leave once I’ve raised enough money to pay back the gambling den.”

Upon hearing this, Su An, standing outside, was almost overflowing with sarcasm.

He Wangshi felt that her deeds were about to be exposed, so she decided to tell them in advance so that she could play the victim in front of Li Guihua.

Her final words made it seem as if she couldn't tolerate Lady He, rather than Lady He being the one making constant underhanded moves.

They've managed to absolve themselves of all responsibility.

Just as Li Guihua was about to speak, Su An appeared and walked in, clapping his hands.

"Ah, yes, yes, you're so pitiful. You're jealous of my carefree life, so you shady worm sent people to capture me, right!"

Su An gave a sarcastic, fake smile and plopped down next to Li Guihua.

What?! Arrest you?!

Li Guihua's expression changed, and she ignored He Wangshi's sob story, and examined Su Anquan from head to toe.

"Mom, I'm fine. Luckily, I met some kind people."

Su An patted his mother's hand to comfort her, then turned to look sharply at Madam He, "I've tolerated you time and time again, but you wretched wife are born of a venomous snake. You think you can rest easy by sending a few thugs to deal with me?"

"What nonsense are you spouting about Su An! I'm in the house all day long, what do you mean I sent someone to arrest you!" As expected, Madam He denied it outright, speaking with righteous indignation.

That little bitch!

"You can't even come up with a decent reason for slandering me. It's full of loopholes. You clearly can't tolerate an old woman like me!"

Seeing He Wangshi crying and wailing, Su An sneered and casually mentioned a name, which was the gambling den that He Wangshi frequented.

“Shunzi, you’re familiar with them, right? They not only knew where I was, but they also waited for me in a corner and asked me to pay off your debts.”

"I find it strange, everyone in the county knows that I wouldn't even look down on your son if he were to serve me a chamber pot! I rightfully dumped your bloodsucking family, so why do people still think I'd be a bodhisattva to you?"

With each word Su An spoke, his tone grew heavier, creating an oppressive atmosphere. He Wangshi's face turned from red to green, and then from green to white.

"Besides you shamelessly instigating them, who else would be so blind as to come forward?"

Faced with Su An's interrogation, Madam He lowered her head guiltily, her eyes darting around, and then burst into heart-wrenching sobs.

She clutched her chest and wailed, not answering Su An directly, but instead crying out to Li Guihua.

“I really have no other choice. I’m penniless and my son is unreliable. If I weren’t desperate, what respectable family would stay at someone else’s house?”

Su An smiled without saying a word, then delivered a sarcastic snort that struck He Wangshi directly on the head.

"You know you're shameless, yet you just won't stop! You're so old and you've turned out like this, so stupid and toxic. You'd better go and light some incense at your ancestors' graves, or they'll be driven back to life by your unfilial descendant!"

"You, you, you—" Madam He felt dizzy and almost fainted.

Every single word of that was more hurtful than a knife to her heart!

Li Guihua was initially furious, but listening to her daughter's rapid-fire chatter, she was both amused and exasperated, and instead began to worry about He Wangshi's precious daughter.

Seriously, don't let your daughter drive you to your death, that would be a terrible thing!

He quickly gestured for Su An to calm down, then helped He Wangshi up. "Alright, stop talking about death. It's good that you have the intention. Find some work and pay back the money this morning!"

After she finished speaking, she gave a forced smile, tightened her grip on Madam He's hand, and warned, "However, our two families have no relationship whatsoever anymore. Taking you in was purely out of kindness, but we can take back this kindness at any time. Don't you agree?"

Yes! Yes!

Madam He was horrified. She forced a dry laugh and nodded, a sense of fear rising within her.

This Li Guihua doesn't seem so easy to fool!

She left in a hurry, and Su An's face instantly darkened. Not wanting to vent his anger on Li Guihua, he suppressed his rage and asked, "Mother, why did you keep her here? Isn't it obvious what you've done?"

Li Guihua smiled and shook her head, gesturing for her to come over: "Of course I know, but even if she can send people to arrest you, she can't let anyone go."

"She definitely has other motives. She's staying at our house and won't leave. She hasn't completely revealed her true colors yet. We'll just have to wait and see."

Su An thought about it again and realized that this made sense. He Wangshi had too many underhanded tricks. Now that Jian Yi was keeping an eye on her, he wasn't afraid that she would harm people again.

If He Cheng were to engage in any underhanded activities... He Wangshi could immediately fall into their hands, which would indeed be better than letting her go.
