Chapter 77 Delicious Radish Feast (Part Two)

"Why is it so quiet inside? What are you doing in there? Eating or visiting a grave? There's not a sound."

Xiao Qi looked exhausted and miserable. He felt like he had become a giant radish security guard all morning.

Looking at the crowds waiting in line to take photos and check in, Xiao Qi had a fleeting feeling that he was working as a bodyguard for some big star.

"How long will it take to get a turn?"

Old Wang muttered something to himself, and then his colleague squeezed over with several steamed buns tucked into his arms:

"The director said that the flow of people in this area will probably be quite high in the next few days, and told us to keep a close eye on things to make sure nothing goes wrong. It's almost noon and there's nowhere else to eat. The girl in the shop stuffed a big bag of steamed buns into my hands. Let's share some."

Just as Lao Wang was about to retort, his colleague chuckled and said, "Don't worry, I won't let you make any mistakes. You've already paid for it. It's one yuan and fifty cents a bun, filled with radish and pork. Want to try some?"

Old Wang was relieved. He had been standing there all morning and was starving. He grabbed a steamed bun and stuffed it into his mouth, almost burning his tongue in the process.

"Ouch! Why is this served with soup?! Hiss—"

Biting into the bun reveals the filling inside: green and white shredded radish, meat filling, and mushroom bits intertwined, glistening with an enticing sheen. Unlike the usual soft and soggy buns, the bun in his hand also contains a packet of hot, oily broth.

"Slurp, slurp—"

Unexpectedly, the bun had a hidden secret. Old Wang ate it somewhat awkwardly, tilting his head back, moving his throat, and gently sucking on it. The slightly cooled, delicious soup slid down his throat into his stomach, warming him up completely.

Even after you've finished the soup, the buns aren't bland at all. The tenderness of the radish and the richness of the meat, combined with the umami of the mushrooms, make them absolutely irresistible.

Xiao Qi, though young, had a big appetite. He ate eight steamed buns in a row before finally stopping, letting out a satisfied burp, and said somewhat reluctantly:

"Master, how about we buy their steamed buns again next time?"

You silly boy, they're just doing you a favor, and you're really treating it like a bun costs 1.5 yuan?

Old Wang glared at his gluttonous apprentice, about to scold him, but before he could finish his steamed bun, he saw a man wearing a black hat, black sunglasses, and a black overcoat standing straight in front of him.

The man was still staring at the steamed bun in his hand, muttering to himself:

"Radish and pork filling...with aspic? No, that's too greasy, isn't it? Hmm, then where did he get this soup filling technique...? My master never taught me that..."

Given the suspicious nature of his actions, Xiao Qi had already mentally rehearsed a whole set of grappling techniques.
