Chapter 5 A gigantic wonder

In fact, there were two other children between the two siblings. Lin Yulan was raised by her grandmother. At that time, she didn't have enough energy. She had to work in the fields and take care of the children, so she could only spare time to take care of that one child.

It is said that the second one died just a few days after leaving the confinement period when Liang Shengdi threw her on the bed after feeding her.

At that time, the beds were all made of stone slabs, which were extremely hard. During those years, there was no food or water, and he was already malnourished and underdeveloped. His head hit the stone slab and he died on the spot.

The third one was said to be still in confinement. When Liang Shengdi was sleeping at night, she turned over and pressed on the baby. She didn't feel anything all night, but when she woke up the next day, the baby was already hard.

Although Liang Shengdi later explained that she was so hungry that she felt dizzy and had to breastfeed, her hands were shaking after feeding and she couldn't hold the baby at all.

When I go to bed at night, it’s more like I fainted than I fell asleep.

But Lin Guoqing's grandmother didn't believe it. She just thought Liang Shengdi wanted to put the blame on her, saying that it was because she, as the mother-in-law, didn't give her grandson food that he died.

The version promoted to the outside world became the one above. After so many times, Liang Shengdi was too lazy to explain it. Anyway, the person was gone, so there was no point in saying more.

Lin Guoqing is the fourth child. Since he was born, his father has put him in a backpack and carried him wherever he goes.

He never drank milk and just drank rice soup and sweet potato porridge, which is how he managed to survive.

Growing up, she was basically taken care of by her biological father and grandmother. Lin Yulan learned to cook from her grandmother the year Lin Guoqing was born, because Liang Shengdi didn't cook, didn't know how to cook, and was too lazy to cook.

When the Japanese invaded, everyone was fleeing. Liang Shengdi had been separated from her family, and thanks to the right time, place and people, she fled to Sihe Village.

Old Mrs. Lin thought that in this broken world, people could die at any time. Although her family was poor, she had to have an heir, whether a boy or a girl. So she decided to take Liang Shengdi in, and after obtaining her consent, she set a table for her son and her, and they got married.

The phrase that Mrs. Lin mentioned most often later was: There is no good thing at a cheap price, and there is no free meal in the world.

The name Liang Shengdi sounds like her family is the kind that favors boys over girls, but I don’t know how they raised her. She can’t do anything and her priority is eating.

Liang Shengdi refused to go to the fields, saying that leeches bit her; she refused to work, saying that she was dizzy from exhaustion; she refused to cook, saying that she was afraid of cutting her hands with the knife; she refused to wash clothes, saying that her hands were sore; and she refused to take care of the children, because her family did not dare to let her do so.

The greatest joy in life is to stand at the entrance of the village with your hands in your pockets and chat with people. If I had a handful of melon seeds, I would probably have a more enjoyable chat while eating them. Unfortunately, my family is poor and we don’t have any melon seeds.

Mrs. Lin worked hard all her life, but in her old age, she hadn't enjoyed much happiness. She also had to worry about her grandchildren, wondering if they would be killed by their own mother. Before her death, she taught them all the survival skills she could, and then passed away with a heavy heart.

After Mrs. Lin passed away, the family really depended on their father. Father Lin never dared to stop working in his life. He married off his daughter and married off his son with the money he saved.

This man, who could be said to be both a father and a mother, and who was very capable in that era, was a complete love-brained person. Liang Shengdi would not have any particularly excessive demands anyway, so basically the father of the Lin family was very obedient to her.

The love between the young couple was deep. There was no such thing as divorce back then. They were together for life, and there was no reason to separate except death.

If anyone is to blame, it can only be his mother, Old Mrs. Lin, who had poor taste when choosing a daughter-in-law.

If he doesn't want to work, then don't do it. He can take care of the money-making. If he doesn't want to do laundry, cooking, or housework, then don't do it. Anyway, the two children are grown up and can help share the work.

If you ask how much affection these two siblings have for Liang Shengdi, they really don't have any. They grew up in fear, learning to work even when they were learning to walk, and cooking for their mother when they were not even as tall as the stove.

Lin Yulan always said that her father died of exhaustion. However, no matter how much the siblings felt sorry for their father, it was useless. The father did not feel sorry for himself. When he was dying, he did not forget to remind his two children to remember to take care of his mentally ill wife.

The old man’s original words were - “Your mother is just a little lazy, but she has a good heart. After all, she is your biological mother…”

Liang Shengdi didn't have any bad intentions. Being bad requires thinking, but she was too lazy to do that. She just ignored everyone's life and death equally, as long as she lived comfortably.

The brother and sister were helpless. After all, their father had really worked hard for them all his life. How could they not listen to his last words?

So he still has to take care of his biological mother, especially as a son, Lin Guoqing has to live with his mother.

As Lin Guoqing's daughter-in-law, Chen Chunhua was unlucky enough to be assigned such a mother-in-law.

Liang Shengdi was sitting at the gate of her house basking in the sun when she saw the six members of the family coming back hand in hand. Lin Shuying, in particular, seemed to be walking very steadily, not at all like she looked half dead yesterday.

She curled her lips and muttered, "I said, it's just a fever, why panic so much..."

She sincerely felt that when it came to fever, one just had to cover oneself up, and the fever would subside on its own after sweating, and there was no need to go to the hospital. Lin Guoqing and Lin Yulan had gone through this before, but Chen Chunhua's child was so precious that she had to go to the hospital for such a small matter.

I didn’t have any food to eat yesterday at noon!
