Chapter 7 Are you a fairy?

Chapter 7 Are you a fairy?

Zhao Da stopped howling.

Zhou glanced quickly at the candy in Zhao Da's hand before withdrawing her cold gaze.

Zhao Da was not satisfied; how come there were only two left?

He reached out and pried Zhao Xiaoer's hands open, searching him from head to toe, but couldn't find the third one.

Just as I was about to give up, I suddenly smelled a very fragrant aroma.

"Zhao Er, you smell so good! What would you like to eat?"

Suddenly, Zhou thought of something else: which shop would be so kind as to give away such good candy so casually?

Then, she leaned closer to Zhao Xiaoer and smelled him. Sure enough!

It smells exactly like the mushrooms my father-in-law brought back from picking them that day!

Her eyes, like two icy awls, were fixed on Zhao Xiaoer's face. "Zhao Er, did you eat that... what... what kind of noodles? The smell is exactly the same as the smell of the mushrooms your father-in-law brought back from picking mushrooms that day!"

Once the smell of instant noodles sticks to you, it takes forever to get rid of it.

Then, Zhao Da turned around and hugged Zhao Sheng, "Grandpa, Zhao Da wants to eat noodles too, the really fragrant noodles! Grandpa, take me there! Let's go now!"

Just then, Old Mrs. Zhao walked in. "What's all this arguing about in the middle of the day? Don't you need to eat? Can arguing feed you?"

If there was anyone Zhou Shi feared in this family, it was Old Lady Zhao.

As soon as Old Lady Zhao entered, her imposing manner instantly diminished.

Old Mrs. Zhao was originally a wealthy young lady, and that air of authority came from her very bones.

"Grandma, Zhao Xiao'er ate that noodle soup, but Zhao Da didn't get a single bite..."

Old Mrs. Zhao didn't give her any face at all. "If you want to eat, go find it yourself! Who told you to take the eldest son away? You take him back to your parents' house every few days to eat and drink well, why don't you think about bringing anything back?"

Zhou muttered, "...How can that be the same? That's my maternal home. If you're so capable, let your sister-in-law go back to her maternal home and enjoy a life of luxury."

It was precisely because of the support she received from her family that she dared to act so recklessly.

Then, Zhao Kun also came in, and the small kitchen was crowded with people.

Zhao Kun grabbed Zhou Shi, "What are you doing now?!"

Zhou shoved him away, glared at him, and said, "What's all this commotion? Your son has been wronged, and you, as the father, won't stand up for him, but I, as the mother, won't? You might as well throw your son out there and let him be a beggar! What good is he to you? Really!"

"Stop arguing!" Zhao Sheng finally snapped.

"I had to swallow my pride to get this instant noodle from the restaurant. If you want some, you'd better go ask for it yourself! I don't have the nerve to do that!"

So this is called instant noodles. Zhou wanted to say something more.

Old Mrs. Zhao glanced at her. Mrs. Zhou immediately shut up.

Villagers generally have the habit of taking a nap in the afternoon.

After finishing lunch, the Zhao family of three returned to their small room.

Zhao Gan peeked through the crack in the door and saw that Zhao Kun and his family of three had also returned to their room before he closed the door tightly.

"Little Er, I'm so sorry. It's my fault as your mother. I can't treat you to the best of everything." Li hugged her son tightly with heartache.

Unlike Zhou, she lost both her parents at a young age and was raised by her uncles and aunts. After getting married, she became even less connected with them and had no family to rely on.

She had to swallow her anger and endure everything in this family, and even her own son had to give in to her.

"Mommy, I'll earn lots and lots of money in the future and buy you lots and lots of candy! So you can have a sweet life every day!" Zhao Xiao'er said in his childish voice.

These words warmed Li's heart, and she almost shed tears again.

Zhao Gan walked over and gently tapped Zhao Xiao Er's little head.

"You little rascal!"

After saying that, he opened his palm, and a White Rabbit milk candy lay in his hand.

Li gasped in surprise, then quickly covered her mouth.

He lowered his voice and asked, "How do you have candy?"

Zhao Xiaoer then smiled and said, "Mother, I put it in Father's hand. This candy was originally for Father."

Zhao Gan looked at Li Shi with heartache, "You should save it for your mother."

Li wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes. She hugged Zhao Xiaoer tightly again, saying, "Having you is my greatest joy!"

Noon has passed

The villagers are all frugal; they will eat at home rather than go out to eat if they can.

They also have a habit of taking a nap after eating so that they can save their energy for work in the afternoon.

There weren't many people out and about at this time.

Jiang Ling's biological clock had completely given out.

I had no choice but to close the wooden door and go upstairs to catch up on my sleep.

As soon as the wooden door closed, several people rode horses and galloped over.

The leader was a boy of about twelve or thirteen years old, who frowned as he looked at the closed gate.

"Didn't you say you'd open the door?" he asked the person behind him in a deep voice, his tone carrying an innate air of authority.

The man with the sword behind him bowed and clasped his hands, his eyes somewhat evasive: "Your Highness, I did see this shop open this morning, and there were several customers going in and out. I immediately rushed back to report to Your Highness, but for some reason, the shopkeeper closed the door again."

He lied.

He did wait patiently for the past few days, but the door never opened.

He thought today would be the same, and since there was a temple fair on the mountain, he figured it wouldn't hurt to walk away for a while.

When they came down from the mountain, it was already noon.

He suddenly saw that the grocery store had opened, and then he rode back to report.

But it was too late when I got back.

He dared not tell the truth, or he would lose his life!

Another man with a sword bowed and said, "Your Highness, it is noon. Perhaps the innkeeper has gone for a nap?"

"You can't even do this little thing right!" The boy glared at them with exasperation.

It's been seven days already.

He clearly promised he would never break his word, yet seven days have already passed!

The boy gripped the Yunnan Baiyao spray in his hand, hesitated for a moment, and then, still unwilling to give up, went up and knocked on the door a few times.

Just like the previous dozen or so times, there was still no response after waiting for a long time.

It was as quiet as an abandoned house.

On the day he returned to the palace, he had the imperial physicians examine the medicine. Strangely, none of the dozens of imperial physicians in the palace knew the origin of the medicine.

Upon examination of the ingredients, it was found to be composed of dozens of precious medicinal herbs.

Ironically, even the most senior imperial physicians in the palace couldn't accurately list the ingredients of the medicines, let alone analyze the dosage.

Dozens of imperial physicians unanimously agreed that this medicine had miraculous effects in removing blood stasis, stopping bleeding, promoting blood circulation, relieving pain, detoxifying, and reducing swelling.

After he returned home, he strictly followed the girl's instructions, spraying the wound three to five times a day. The wound showed no redness or inflammation, and the effect was surprisingly good.

His knee injury has now healed by about 70-80%.

Such a miraculous medicine actually came from a small shop in a deserted village...

He came here every day for the past seven days.

On the first day, he prepared gold and silver to personally express his gratitude, but from sunrise to sunset, no one came out to open the door.

No matter how much I knocked, there was no response, and I couldn't even push the door open.

I waited for three whole days, and the official business on my desk piled up for those three days.

On the fourth day, having no other choice, they had to send someone to keep watch. As soon as they saw the shopkeeper open, they were to go back and report to him.

But just as they arrived, they were a step too late.

The shop wasn't big; he and his men had checked it and found there was no back door.

For seven days, there has been no sound from inside, and no one has come out.

I asked the villagers nearby, and they said that the shop had been abandoned for many years.

The boy gripped the Yunnan Baiyao in his hand, murmuring, "Could you really be a fairy who appeared out of thin air to save me?"
