Chapter 15 Pre-made Dishes for Prison Service

Chapter 15 Pre-made Dishes for Prison Service

A dark cloud drifted in and blocked the sun, the sunlight filtering through the window disappeared, and the armory was dimly lit, the Seventh Prince's face hidden in the gloom.

His tone was somewhat harsh, "You tell me something as important as commanding animals so easily?" Xie Mianmian trusts him that much?

Xie Mianmian tilted her head and said naturally, "Seventh Prince and I are good friends."

The Seventh Prince seemed to have thought of something, and said in a chilling tone, "If the Sixth Princess were standing here, would you let her know too?"

Xie Mianmian nodded diligently; there was nothing to hide.

The Seventh Prince's face darkened. He gripped Xie Mianmian's fingers tightly, gritting his teeth, "No one else, except the Xie family and myself, can know this secret of yours."

As if venting his anger, he pinched Xie Mianmian's chubby cheeks with his hand, "Do you understand?"

Xie Mianmian nodded, wincing in pain. She wasn't a gossip who would tell everyone.

The Seventh Prince snorted coldly, climbed out the window, and stood outside, extending his hand to Xie Mianmian, "Hurry up and leave."

Xie Mianmian chuckled and, with someone's help, deftly slipped out.

Just before stepping out of the courtyard, the Seventh Prince touched his lips and murmured, "I will take responsibility."

Unfortunately, those words were blown away by the wind. Xie Mianmian, who was skipping and hopping ahead, didn't hear them. Even if she had, she wouldn't have understood how serious the person who said those words was.

"Oh, my young master!" Eunuch Li came running over, carrying his whisk. "Greetings, Your Highness. From now on, please allow me to accompany you wherever you go."

Eunuch Li winked and whispered to Xie Mianmian, "Miss Xie, the Sixth Princess is about to fly into a rage because she's been looking for you."

The Seventh Prince frowned unhappily. "Tsk, is Xie Mianmian the Sixth Princess's dog, being bossed around like that?"

The sixth princess said: "Is she your study companion or mine? Let me ask you."

"We'll go back now." Xie Mianmian smiled apologetically at Eunuch Li, so discreetly that no one would suspect she was a child who had just quietly accomplished something significant.

Just then, a large group of people walked over from not far away.

Upon hearing the noise, Wang Jia, a guard of the Imperial Guard, came out and looked puzzled when he saw Xie Mianmian and the other two. He wondered when they had arrived.

Ignoring all that, Wang Jia asked the people outside the courtyard, "Who is making such a fuss here?"

"Hmph, I am Zhao Bing, the General of the Golden Guard. Do you see clearly?" With that, Zhao Bing raised the token in his hand and continued, "An anonymous letter claims that someone in your courtyard is colluding with the Northern Rong. I have come to search the place."

The morning's events had been exposed, and the Lin family father and daughter were afraid that things might get complicated if they waited too long, so they urged Zhao Bing to take action quickly.

Upon hearing the name Zhao Bing, Xie Mianmian's eyes widened in surprise. It was Zhao Bing, the secret right-hand man of Minister Lin, whom the Seventh Prince had mentioned.

"Nonsense! We are guards responsible for protecting the Northern Rong in the capital. How could we do such a thing?" Wang Jia was very agitated and almost cursed.

Seeing that the two sides were about to fight, Eunuch Li quickly half-embraced the two children, wanting to leave this place of trouble as soon as possible.

Xie Mianmian twisted her small shoulders from side to side, breaking free from Eunuch Li's half-embracing arm. She wouldn't leave; this place needed her to protect it!

Eunuch Li was almost broken, on the verge of tears. "My ancestors! Swords have no eyes! These people are big and strong. They could take down a kid like you with one punch. Even I would be gone in two punches."

Eunuch Li looked helplessly at the Seventh Prince, "Seventh Prince, please say something?"

The Seventh Prince made a move. He pulled Xie Mianmian to a place where she wouldn't be affected by the war, then crossed his arms, looking like he was watching a good show.

Eunuch Li: !?

People are really fragile when they get old.

Helpless, Eunuch Li could only stand in front of the two children, thinking that he could at least block them out a little. However, his slender body could not hide the children below, and they were exposed without any view.

Zhao Bing, brimming with confidence in Minister Lin, arrogantly declared, "Your word doesn't count. I'm just following orders. Get out of the way!"

"Oh? Whose orders are you following?" Xie Huaijin strode in and said coldly.

He had just returned from General Xiao's place without hearing a word of it. Upon his return, he discovered that someone had been ordered to search the courtyard of his guards. Did they think he was a dead man, using his power to bully others?

"I don't want to make things difficult for you. As long as we search you and find nothing wrong, we'll leave." Zhao Bing's attitude suddenly softened. "Or is it that Chief Guard Xie is afraid?"

Xie Huaijin wasn't buying his provocation. This group had come on strong, and considering the explosives from that morning, they probably really could find something.

He kept a serious face and quickly thought of a solution when Xie Mianmian suddenly ran over from the side, tugged at Xie Huaijin's sleeve, and gestured for him to lower his head and listen to her.

Xie Huaijin was puzzled, but at this crucial moment, he still chose to squat down and listen to his younger sister. He knew that Xie Mianmian was not the kind of child who would cause trouble at critical times.

Xie Mianmian cupped her hands around Xie Huaijin's ears, covering them completely, afraid that her voice would leak out, and then said a few words to Xie Huaijin.

Xie Huaijin's eyes sharpened at first, and he glared fiercely at Zhao Bing, but his expression relaxed at the end.

These few words, however brief, seemed to have given Xie Huaijin the feeling of experiencing a dramatic rise and fall, leaving him drenched in a cold sweat.

Outsiders might find it shocking, thinking it's just childish talk—that a cat would steal the Northern Rong arrows used to frame them? They wouldn't even dare to dream of such a thing.

But Xie Huaijin believed it anyway, and he was absolutely convinced. His little sister had always been his lucky star, and he trusted her.

Xie Huaijin stood up and shielded Xie Mianmian behind him, "We can go in and search, but what if we don't find anything?"

Zhao Bing scoffed. Half an hour ago, Minister Lin's men had already confirmed that the item was still inside. He had even sent people to watch outside the courtyard. They would notice even if a fly flew out. Until Zhao Bing arrived, there was nothing unusual.

But Zhao Bing subconsciously ignored the two children who had appeared there out of nowhere. He might have seen them, but what could two little brats do? he thought.

Zhao Bing laughed loudly, his tone full of confidence, "If I can't find it, I'll cut off my head and give it to you to sit on."

Xie Huaijin looked at his face and smirked, "There's no need to be so bloody. There are children here. If you can't find anything, just shout three times in front of everyone that Zhao Bing is an insidious, cunning, shameless, and utterly despicable scoundrel."

"Hmph, arrogant brat." He was confident of victory, but why was Xie Huaijin so arrogant, taking the opportunity to insult him?

Zhao Bing felt a lump in his throat and mentally devised more than a dozen cruel tortures to inflict on the kid.

Xie Huaijin chuckled and gestured, "Please."

He put on an air of a refined young nobleman, which made the ugly Zhao Bing want to vomit.

Zhao Bing led a group of people and hurried inside.

"Captain Xie, what should we do if we really find something?" Wang Jia was somewhat desperate.

Xie Huaijin patted Xie Mianmian's head and said casually, "It's nothing."

Startled, Eunuch Li quickly sent someone to inform the Sixth Princess that she should stop looking for Xie Mianmian, as she might be going to jail soon.
