Chapter 14 Kiss

Chapter 14 Kiss

Xie Mianmian stood up. The tabby cat Xian Chan wasn't among the cats that had come to play with her. "Could it be in a secret place?"

The Seventh Prince asked in confusion, "What is that?"

Xie Mianmian reminded her, "Ginkgo tree."

The seventh prince suddenly realized, so this was their secret place...

Xie Mianmian urged him, "Let's go, let's go find Xianchan." The tabby cat is too wild, it's never home, what if it runs into bad people?

The two children headed to the secret place, one after the other.

The tall ginkgo tree stands quietly in the middle, favored by the warm yellow sunlight, shining on it impartially, creating a serene and verdant scene.

They saw a tabby cat playing under the tree from afar.

The kitten lay on its back on the ground, its front paws clutching something, its mouth busily nibbling at the feathers on it, and its two hind paws kicking wildly, having a great time, unaware that they were approaching.

Xie Mianmian gently patted the kitten's head, "Bad cat, you're not going home again!"

"You've taken other people's things again?" The Seventh Prince was a little angry. Taking things without asking was like stealing a cat.

The cicada meowed angrily, "How can you call it stealing when it's a cat's business?!" This feather was sticking out of the box; wasn't it just a way to lure the cat to take it?

The seventh prince noticed something was wrong. Xian Chan was holding an arrow. Finding an arrow in the palace was not unusual, but what was strange was the pattern carved on the arrow.

The seventh prince snatched the arrow from the cat's mouth and examined it closely.

Xian Chan became even angrier and unleashed a barrage of invincible cat-like punches, which landed loudly on the Seventh Prince's legs.

"That two-legged beast is bad, meow, Mianmian, look at him!"

Xie Mianmian looked at the arrow with a puzzled expression. "Is there a problem?"

The Seventh Prince's face turned serious. "The arrows of the Great Zhou Dynasty are usually engraved with the character 'Zhou', but this arrow..."

He pointed to the carving and showed it to Xie Mianmian.

Xie Mianmian exclaimed, "It's a big dog!"

"It is the wolf's head, the totem of the Northern Rong."

Xie Mianmian became very sensitive when the topic of Bei Rong came up. She stroked the cat's head and asked, "Xianchan, tell me, where did you find this arrow?"

The seventh prince stroked his chin, doubting whether his little veterinarian could really understand what cats were saying.

Xian Chan spoke in a jumbled, incoherent babbling voice that Xie Mianmian couldn't understand.

"Can you take us there, Cicada?"

The tabby cat turned around and began to lead the way, "Follow meow."

"Tsk, who's talking about us?" the Seventh Prince thought to himself, but when Xie Mianmian pulled him forward, the Seventh Prince still silently followed.

Following Xian Chan, they left the Cold Palace and arrived at a courtyard familiar to Xie Mianmian.

Xie Mianmian's eyes widened. "This is the courtyard where Third Brother is staying temporarily!"

The Seventh Prince's mind raced. "How could Northern Rong arrows be in the Imperial Guard's courtyard?"

They quickly followed Xian Chan and arrived at a secluded side room.

Xian Chan sat gracefully in front of the door, licking her paws elegantly. "This is it, meow."

Xie Mianmian pushed the door, but it was locked.

They went around to the window and slipped in through the small crack.

This must be the armory. The walls are covered with crossbows, and the room is filled with all kinds of weapons. There are several large boxes in the corner. Xie Mianmian thought that the arrows that pierced the cicada must have been taken from here.

They opened the boxes one by one and found them full of arrows engraved with wolf heads.

The Seventh Prince looked grave. "The Imperial Guards have secretly colluded with the Northern Rong."

Xie Mianmian clenched her fists and retorted, "No, that's not true! Third Brother was framed!"

She told the Seventh Prince in detail how Xie Huaijin became the captain of the guards and about the explosives under the bridge that morning.

Xie Mianmian wiped her eyes. "Third Brother is innocent. There are bad people in the palace."

The seventh prince raised his hand and gently wiped away the tears on the child's face, saying earnestly, "I believe you."

Xie Mianmian was deeply moved; the Seventh Prince was truly a good person.

"Let's move all these arrows."

Seventh Prince: Is this reasonable?

"I can get the cats to help," Xie Mianmian slapped her forehead. "Let's move them to the bad guys' place!"

The Seventh Prince thought about it and it seemed somewhat feasible!

"I know one of Minister Lin's right-hand men." He leaned down and whispered a name in Xie Mianmian's ear.

Xie Mianmian clapped her hands excitedly, "That's great!"

The child was clasping her hands together when she suddenly realized she didn't have enough "cuteness points." She had already used one that morning. Ah, she was still short two kisses.

Xie Mianmian said to the Seventh Prince in a serious tone, "Seventh Prince, may I kiss you twice?"

"Wh...what?" The Seventh Prince was so shocked that he stammered.

What kiss? What kiss? What two kisses? Me?

"I need two kisses to get the kitten to work," Xie Mianmian said innocently.

The Seventh Prince turned his head in a panic, his gaze seemingly lingering on Xie Mianmian's chubby face for a moment.

"For a young girl like you, you're being far too unreserved." That's... not a good idea.

Before anything had even happened, the Seventh Prince blushed with embarrassment.

"Hurry up, or they might come soon." The Seventh Prince is usually a reliable person, but he starts nagging at crucial moments. Xie Mianmian was anxious; this was a matter of life and death for her Third Brother!

"Okay, don't move." Seeing that Xie Mianmian was really angry, the Seventh Prince had no choice but to comply.

The Seventh Prince took out a handkerchief from his sleeve and gently wiped Xie Mianmian's face.

Xie Mianmian: ?

Am I some kind of dirty child?

The seventh prince shook his head, but said, "You were just crying."

Xie Mianmian: Okay :)

The Seventh Prince folded the handkerchief and put it into his sleeve. Looking at Xie Mianmian's profile, he took a deep breath and slowly approached.

A ray of sunlight shone through the window, and he could clearly see Xie Mianmian's long, curled eyelashes, her fair and rosy face, and the white downy hair on it, making her look like a peach.

As he got closer, he could smell the sweet aroma. Xie Mianmian must have stuffed the pastries into her pocket again, he thought.

The Seventh Prince gently kissed it twice, feeling as if he were sucking on two mouthfuls of tender white tofu. Before he could savor any flavor, it was over, and he felt a little... disappointed.

Finally, after the Seventh Prince finished dawdling, Xie Mianmian started working.

She clasped her hands together and said lightly, "Little kitty, help Mianmian carry the arrow feathers~ Take all the Northern Rong arrow feathers here to the bad guys."

After she finished speaking, the cats that Aunt Lan kept in her yard came in an orderly fashion, like a secret guard, their paws touching the ground silently.

They carried away all the arrows, one trip after another, and then brought back arrows from the Great Zhou Dynasty, refilling the several large boxes.

Just like that, without anyone noticing, the Cat Team switched all the Northern Rong arrows with the bad guys!

Xie Mianmian stroked each kitten's head, praising them, "You've done a great job! If you have any problems in the future, you can come to Mianmian for help."

"I love Mianmian so much!"

"You just like it when the miracle doctor scratches your itch!"

The cats left, chattering amongst themselves.

Xie Mianmian closed the box, dusted off her hands, and said, "Seventh Prince, the horse riding lesson is almost over, let's go back."

The Seventh Prince grabbed Xie Mianmian's hand.
