Chapter 82 Escape

Back to the present, Leonis is surrounded by the pursuing cultists.

Here, every cult member is a Silver-level protector. Although they may not be as powerful as the Silver-level warriors who train daily, they have the advantage of being plentiful and well-fed.

After using healing magic to ease the injury on her right hand once more, Leonis raised her sword again.

Immediately following was the cultists' divine magic attack, with beams of purple light raining down on Leonis.

Leonis dodged the overwhelming beams of light by maneuvering left and right, and then casually killed two cultists who tried to get closer.

The remaining cult members exchanged glances, as if they had decided on a plan, and then two of them ran out and ran back the way they came.

Seeing the two cultists who had gone to inform her walk away, Leonis knew she couldn't delay any longer and needed to finish the job quickly.

Leonis took a deep breath and concentrated her remaining power into the sword, which instantly shone with golden light.

She charged at the remaining cultists like a tiger, her sword flashing, and cultists fell to the ground wherever she went.

However, these cultists were not to be trifled with. They worked together to constantly harass Leonis with divine magic, wearing her down.

Just as Leonis was fighting with all his might, he suddenly felt a chill down his back. He instinctively dodged to the side, and a purple beam of light grazed his shoulder.

It turned out that a cultist had taken advantage of his fight to get behind him.

Leonis felt a chill run down his spine and decided to stop fighting. He gathered all his magic power and unleashed a powerful sword aura, repelling the surrounding cultists.

Taking advantage of this gap, Leonis quickly broke through the encirclement and left the area.

The remaining cult members looked at each other, unsure of what to do.

Soon, a dark figure landed there. Seeing that the followers had lost their target, the figure was not angry. After directing the remaining followers to clean up the scene, the figure hurriedly left as if nothing had happened.

…………

Half a day later, Leonis finally arrived at a remote village under the jurisdiction of the Fortified City.

She was exhausted when she arrived at the village entrance, and soon collapsed on the ridge of the field at the village entrance.

She was quickly spotted by a group of children who were playing, which attracted the attention of the adults in the village.

Suddenly, Leonis, who was lying on the ground, was surrounded by villagers who wanted to watch the spectacle.

"Who is this person?"

"I don't know. Look at her armor, is she a knight?"

"How could that be? Where would a knight get such imposing armor..."

"Huh? I've seen the pattern on her armor before, on the church in the city!"

"Hey, hey, make way, the village chief is here."

Upon hearing this, everyone made way for him, and they saw that the newcomer was a burly, red-haired man with a thick beard.

The man glanced at Leonis's gold-plated armor and the sword embroidered with holy symbols. Even though he wasn't very cultured, he knew that the person before him must be of high status.

So he dispersed most of the noisy villagers, called over a few honest ones, and together they carried the knight to their home.

The women in the house also put down their work and rushed over to help treat the wound. They also chased away several grown men, telling them to go and call the village doctor.

Before long, the village doctor arrived at the village chief's house carrying his tools.

This old doctor had once worked as an apprentice in a church in the city for a period of time, and knew some methods of healing and saving lives. Unfortunately, he was not skilled enough, and eventually left the city and returned to his hometown, where he became the only doctor in the town.

The old doctor, who had once studied in the church, recognized Leonis's armor at a glance.

Those are Holy Punishment Knights, only found in high-ranking sanctuaries!

He had once met a Holy Knight at the church when he was young; that Holy Knight had stayed at their church for a period of time. He had been fortunate enough to witness the Holy Knight's training and knew how powerful these Holy Knights were.

"Holy God above, how could she be injured like this? What happened to this little girl?"

As the old doctor spoke, he cleaned the wounds of the Holy Knight, and basins of bloody water were brought out.

Fortunately, Leonis had cast a healing spell on herself, which prevented more serious injuries, and the old doctor managed to stabilize the situation.

Before long, the old doctor had finished treating all of Leonis's wounds, including her severely injured right arm, which he had also bandaged.

"Old Mohan, are you saying this is a knight from the Holy Temple? You're really not lying to me?"

This honest, strong man was unusually nervous, never expecting that the person lying on the bed was a distinguished church knight.

"Why would I lie to you? Send someone to the church in the city to find someone right away..."

"No...no..."

Before old Mohan could finish speaking, Leonis on the bed interrupted him.

Leonis opened her eyes weakly, her voice faint but firm:

"Don't reveal my whereabouts to the church, not even a word. And get me a horse, feed it well, and hurry..."

Before she could finish speaking, Leonis coughed loudly a few times, clearly indicating that she had suffered a serious internal injury.

Leonis forced herself to cast a healing spell to stabilize her injuries and then struggled to sit up.

Then, Leonis said without expression:

“If you don’t want to bring disaster upon yourselves, tell the people in your village that I’ve gone to the fortified city.”

These words caused the two grown men to look at each other, unsure of what to say.

Soon, a villager brought over a worn-out horse, and the village chief called over a young man standing nearby, saying:

"Sir, this is my son. He knows this area very well and should be able to help you."

Looking at the somewhat uneasy young man before her, Leonis sighed and said:

“Give him a horse too, and we’ll go to the fortified city.”

After leaving the village, Leonis kept her head down, wondering if her arrival would attract cultists. In the past, cultists would not have dared to attack villages like this.

But now, after seeing the underground town where cultists lurk, Leonis is not so sure.

It was impossible for her to make the entire village flee because of her words; this was the only way she could protect the villagers' safety.

Leonis couldn't help but feel terrified at the thought of such a huge cult stronghold right under the nose of the Fortified City.

Viscount Swift was certainly involved in this, and even the Church of Fortified City has been completely corrupted.

No, we need to spread the news quickly.

However, the current route to the Kree interior requires traversing the entire territory of the Fortified City, which is tantamount to suicide.

So Leonis thought of someone.

Lind Truk!
