Chapter 50

Chapter 50

"Ha, this is the first time I've ever seen a human actively seeking death."

Bai Muyun was taken aback for a moment, then pressed the entire scalpel in, a look of satisfaction on his face.

Blood gushed out, quickly staining the white coat red.

Jiang Chengyi's face quickly turned pale.

"It's good that you're dead. We can sell you to those who raise demonic beasts," Bai Muyun sneered. "They love that—"

His words came to an abrupt halt, and he collapsed stiffly to the ground.

A bright yellow talisman was pasted around his neck.

It is a magic spell that immobilizes one.

The three-second duration is almost instantaneous.

Just before the talisman wore off, Yu Miaomiao lunged forward and injected the anesthetic into his neck—

Bai Muyun turned his head and looked at Yu Miaomiao in disbelief, then lost consciousness under the influence of the powerful anesthetic.

Still not reassured, Yu Miaomiao took a few more from Jiang Chengyi's pocket.

Jiang Chengyi's clothes were almost completely soaked with blood, and even the syringe was coated with a layer of blood, making it slippery to hold.

She forced herself not to look at Jiang Chengyi and focused her attention on Bai Muyun.

After receiving three injections of anesthetic, she finally felt relieved.

They then immediately dialed the emergency number and explained their location.

Finally, she took a picture of Bai Muyun and sent it, along with the photos of what had just happened, to Liu Wenzheng.

Having completed all of this methodically, Yu Miaomiao's last bit of strength finally dissipated.

She knelt helplessly on the ground, her eyes tightly closed, her breathing rapid.

Without any medicine to replenish her demonic power, she was in a state of extreme weakness.

But just moments later, she opened her eyes and moved toward Jiang Chengyi.

Jiang Cheng leaned against the wall, his left hand tightly covering the wound on his abdomen, but blood was still gushing out rapidly, almost staining his entire clothes red and dripping onto the ground.

A ring of blood was slowly spreading around him.

He had his eyes closed, seemingly unconscious, but opened them the moment Yu Miaomiao approached.

His face was deathly pale, and he was covered in cold sweat, but his eyes were still bright, focused on Yu Miaomiao.

"How are you... now?"

She wanted to touch the wound, but her fingers just hovered in the air.

It seemed that he was afraid his actions would shatter Jiang Chengyi, this fragile human.

"good."

Jiang Cheng paused for a long while before continuing, "There is no... danger to his life."

"That's a lie."

Yu Miaomiao said, "Do you think I'm a monster and that's why you can't tell?"

Her voice lowered: "Is it very serious?"

He added, "To be honest!"

"It should be."

Jiang Chengyi spoke slowly, but there was a hint of amusement in his voice, "The blood loss... is very rapid, my whole body is cold, and my mind... is somewhat confused."

What should I do?

Yu Miaomiao asked anxiously yet hesitantly, "Is it like you did for me, disinfecting and stopping the bleeding?"

"We need to stop the bleeding; there's gauze in the first-aid kit."

Yu Miaomiao positioned Jiang Chengyi in a supine position with his legs raised, found gauze and scissors, and cut open his white coat and T-shirt.

The wound was finally exposed, and the bleeding became even more profuse.

She picked up the gauze, took a deep breath, and following Jiang Chengyi's instructions, used all her strength to press hard on the wound in her lower abdomen.

Several tens of seconds later, the rate of blood flow slowed down significantly.

But Yu Miaomiao's head suddenly felt dizzy.

She pressed too hard and felt that she might revert to her original form at any moment.

No, I can't turn back into the original form. I need to hold on a little longer.

Yu Miaomiao continued to exert force, silently chanting in her mind.

Absolutely not, because... because Jiang Chengyi needs her.

Jiang Chengyi needs her help.

If she were to revert to her original form, she wouldn't be able to stop Jiang Cheng's bleeding.

Jiang Chengyi might not make it to the ambulance.

Jiang Chengyi might... die.

Jiang Cheng will die soon.

The thought sent a slight chill down her spine.

Death... just like Yu Jianqing, buried in the earth, gone forever, never to be seen again.

Just like there will never be another Yu Jianqing in the world.

She will never meet another Jiang Chengyi.

Jiang Chengyi's nonchalant attitude, cold-heartedness, despicable nature, cunning cunning, excellent cooking skills, handsome smile, Jiang Chengyi covering her eyes in the rain, Jiang Chengyi holding her in the cave.

No, no, no, no, no...

Yu Miaomiao would not allow such a thing to happen.

She squeezed out wisps of demonic energy from her flesh, blood, and bones to maintain her human form.

She trembled even more violently, but also with even greater force.

Jiang Cheng's face was ashen, and blood trickled from the corner of his lips—pressing the pressure to stop the bleeding caused a pain even more intense than the knife wound.

Theoretically speaking, this pain is enough to make a person faint.

But he remained clear-headed and kept a close eye on the condition of his wound.

After a short but long and painful wait, Jiang Chengyi finally had Yu Miaomiao bandage his wound.

After the bandage was applied, Yu Miaomiao collapsed to the ground, exhausted.

However, he did not relax, but carefully observed the changes in Jiang Chengyi's expression.

The phone rang incessantly, and she hung up immediately.

"It might be Captain Liu calling," Jiang Cheng said. "Aren't you going to answer it?"

"I've already texted him about the important thing."

Yu Miaomiao said that her gaze never left Jiang Chengyi's face.

The phone rang again. Jiang Cheng fumbled for his phone and answered it.

"Hello, Captain Liu."

"Hey, where's Yu Miaomiao?"

"Wait a moment, I'll give her the phone."

Yu Miaomiao turned her head to the side, sulking and refusing to answer.

But the rapid, weak, trembling breathing sound lingered in my ears.

She couldn't help but turn around, only to see Jiang Cheng holding up his phone, his arm trembling slightly.

This simple action had exhausted all his strength.

She eventually took the phone.

Liu Wenzheng didn't have anything important to do; he simply checked the situation on site and informed them that he would arrive in about an hour.

After hanging up the phone, Yu Miaomiao tossed it aside.

"What did Captain Liu say?"

"You're already in this state, and you're still thinking about other things!"

Yu Miaomiao finally couldn't hold back anymore.

She propped herself up, looking down at Jiang Chengyi, her eyes bright and glistening with tears.

Her voice trembled slightly: "Do you know that you might die?"

Jiang Cheng asked, "Miaomiao, are you worried about me?"

"I think you're stupid."

Yu Miaomiao blinked hard. "Do you think you're a monster like me? Do you think you can't die?!"

"Why did you act on your own? Why didn't you consult me? Why are you standing in my way!"

The other person paused for a moment, then smiled slightly, "Yes, why is that?"

It was as if he was asking Yu Miaomiao a question, or perhaps asking himself.

"Perhaps it was out of impulse. Even though I knew you were a monster, and that this injury was nothing, at that moment, my concern for you overwhelmed my rational judgment and analysis."

Yu Miaomiao was stunned.

Jiang Chengyi continued, "Or perhaps it's because of my arrogance that I've always felt you were fragile and needed protection."

"And selfishness too. If I get hurt for you, will you even glance at me? Will you care about me a little more?"

"Miaomiao, do you know why?"

Yu Miaomiao turned her head away in a panic, "I...I don't know."

Two cold fingers touched her cheek, and she involuntarily turned her head back following the gentle touch.

She repeated the same sentence, "I don't know."

“You know.”

Jiang Chengyi said softly, "I know you know."

He propped himself up on his elbows, the bent waist aggravating his wound, making his face even paler.

But he didn't care at all and continued his actions until his eyes were level with Yu Miaomiao's.

Those pure black phoenix eyes stared unblinkingly at Yu Miaomiao, filled with intense emotions she had run away from many times.

But this time, there was no way to avoid it.

Jiang Cheng leaned forward slowly, closing the distance between himself and Yu Miaomiao in a very slow motion.

Until the two were almost touching.

His voice was as soft as a sigh, "You know I like you."

Jiang Cheng slowly but firmly pressed his lips to Yu Miaomiao's.

It was a light yet heavy kiss.

"Yu Miaomiao, I like you."

He opened and closed his lips slightly, his voice barely audible, but to the other person it was deafening.

As he spoke, his cold, dry lips brushed against Yu Miaomiao's soft lips.

Yu Miaomiao neither dodged nor resisted; she seemed lost in thought, or perhaps simply stunned.

The kiss lasted a very long time, until their breaths mingled and the warmth spread from their cold lips to their skin.

Until the sirens of an ambulance blared downstairs.

Yu Miaomiao suddenly woke up and braced herself against Jiang Chengyi's chest, trying to push him away.

But as soon as she exerted force, the other person's hissing sound made her stop.

She immediately lowered her hand and asked anxiously, "Are you alright?"

But when she looked up and saw Jiang Cheng's smiling eyes, she knew she had been tricked.

She glared at the other person and stood up.

"I'm going downstairs to pick someone up."

I opened the door and went downstairs with a thud.

-

The horrific bloodstains and signs of a struggle at the scene left the medical staff who arrived speechless.

They also carried the unconscious Bai Muyun onto the ambulance and put him in strong restraints.

Because Yu Miaomiao specifically emphasized that this was a patient with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, and was extremely aggressive.

Half an hour later, Liu Wenzheng's law enforcement team arrived at Sunshine Community, searched Tian Ye out of the guard room, and gave the gatekeeper another bottle of forgetfulness potion.

We successfully found Xiaobai at the location indicated by Yu Miaomiao.

Several law enforcement officers took Xiaobai and the criminal suspect and returned to City A ahead of time.

Liu Wenzheng and the rest of the group changed into civilian clothes and got into Tianye's car.

On Tianye's phone, Dr. Yang's latest message popped up.

Where are you?

Liu Wenzheng replied in the same style as Tian Ye, then turned off his phone.

"Are you all ready?"

Liu Wenzheng's fierce eyes swept over his spirited subordinates.

He said in a deep voice, "What we are facing this time is not some small fry, but a huge monster trafficking group."

"They have countless lives on their hands. They are cruel and ruthless and will not beg for mercy just because of our uniforms and weapons."

"They will fight back fiercely, they will kill, and they will escape by any means necessary!"

"Everyone must obey my orders and is not allowed to act on their own, do you understand!"

"Yes, boss!"

The young law enforcement officers responded with high morale.

-

After receiving basic treatment at the town hospital, Jiang Chengyi was urgently transferred to a hospital in City A.

Outside the operating room, Yu Miaomiao paced back and forth, anxiously awaiting the results.

She didn't want to sit down because she was afraid that if she did, she would fall asleep due to exhaustion and weakness.

The doctor came out of the operating room looking very relieved.

"This young man was incredibly lucky; the incision was in his lower right abdomen, avoiding all the vital organs and major arteries."

"Moreover, the emergency treatment of the wound was done very well, and there was no infection or secondary injury."

Hearing the doctor's words, she breathed a deep sigh of relief.

The doctor looked at Yu Miaomiao's pale, almost transparent face and her exhausted expression, and couldn't help but worry.

He advised, "Young lady, you've been sitting outside for four hours. Go back and rest for a while. We'll keep an eye on things here."

Yu Miaomiao shook her head and insisted, "I want to wait for him to wake up."

The doctor advised again, "Then at least take a shower and change your clothes. You're covered in blood; it must be very uncomfortable for you."

"The patient is about to be transferred to the ICU and won't wake up for a while."

Yu Miaomiao lowered her head slowly, looking at the bloodstains on her body, which were indeed a bit terrifying.

She thought inappropriately: This is all Jiang Chengyi's blood.

She nodded slowly. "Okay, I'll go change my clothes and come right back. Please give me the address of the ICU."

"Okay, okay." The doctor was defeated by the stubborn girl. "Go quickly."

Yu Miaomiao then turned to leave, but after taking only two steps, she collapsed to the ground with a thud.
