Chapter 208 Tracking

Don't say things like that!

Wenmo felt ashamed. If he continued playing, he felt that he would be pulled into a dark room by some unforeseen circumstances. To be on the safe side, he decided to stop playing here for now.

"Okay, you can take the bow off now."

"oh."

Xia Lian nodded obediently, reached out and grabbed one of the bows, twirled it a few times, and then pulled off the bow hair tie, while Wen Mo took care of the other ponytail.

Without the support of a hairstyle, the originally smooth and straight hair became somewhat fluffy.

Wen Mo casually placed the two bows on the coffee table, stood up, stretched, glanced at the time—it was already quite late—and turned to ask, "Shall we take a shower today?"

"I don't want to take a shower." Xia Lian shook her head and hugged herself. "It's winter, it's cold... I don't want to shower."

She repeated twice that she didn't want to wash, so it seems she really is quite afraid of the cold.

"Alright then, we won't take a shower today."

Wen Mo ran to the washing machine, picked up a basin, thought for a while, and suddenly his eyes lit up. He ran to the living room to show Xia Lian the big pink plastic basin, "Instead of taking a bath, let's soak our feet. It's perfect for winter, it'll warm us up."

He chuckled and patted the basin, then remembered something and quickly added, "Oh, don't worry, this is specifically for soaking feet. I won't use the basin I use to wash my face."

Hearing this, Xia Lian, whose expression had been strange, relaxed considerably and nodded blankly.

"Soaking your feet."

"OK, I'll go get some hot water."

Carrying a basin, Wenmo happily ran into the bathroom to turn on the hot water, turning the temperature up to the maximum until the steaming vapor blurred his eyes.

When the water was almost gone, he carefully picked up the basin and walked to the living room, put it down in front of the sofa, and then grimaced and shook his hands.

"Holy crap, this might burn me, ouch..."

Blowing on his burned hand, Wenmo was the first to kick off his slippers and pat the spot next to him.

Xia Lian took off her socks, and her fair and rosy little feet lay obediently in her slippers, looking at the hot water basin in front of her with a bit of curiosity.

"What, haven't you soaked your feet before?" Wen Mo laughed, gesturing for someone to "please," and sat down to watch the show. "You go first, just put them in, but be careful."

The water temperature is quite high; you might get scalded if you're not careful.

"Um."

Xia Lian responded and carefully placed her two little feet together into the basin. The moment they touched the water, her eyes widened suddenly.

"Hot!!"

Her foot, which was only halfway in, was quickly pulled out again. She put both feet on the sofa and pouted pitifully as she blew on the air.

"I told you to be careful," Wen Mo shrugged helplessly. "Did you get burned? Let's let it cool down for a few minutes before continuing."

If you get burned and something happens, I can lick it off as an apology.

After letting it cool for a few minutes, it was Wenmo's turn to put his feet down first. He looked around for a while and when the heat wasn't too intense, he put his feet down. The temperature was just right and very comfortable.

"OK, the temperature is about right, you can put it down now."

Xia Lian puffed out her cheeks, making them look like she had several pine nuts inside, clearly still upset about being burned earlier.

Almost the instant Wenmo stepped down, a pair of small feet followed, pressing Wenmo's foot firmly down.

Her red soles would occasionally stomp lightly a couple of times, as if in retaliation.

"Is this punishment?" Wen Mo was stunned, wanting to laugh but not daring to.

"Yeah, because Wenmo bullied people."

Xia Lian nodded, then stomped harder with her little feet until Wen Mo was unable to speak.

Why should we reward him?!

The narrator should shut up.

"Let me dry your feet for you, as an apology," Wen Mo said with a grin. After the water cooled down, he took his feet out, dried them, and then squatted down on the ground.

Xia Lian looked at him squatting on the ground and felt a strange sensation in her heart.

Yet she couldn't quite describe the feeling; she simply lifted her dripping little feet, suspending them in the air, water droplets falling one by one from the soles of her feet into the basin.

Wen Mo held one foot seriously, drying it thoroughly with a towel. The foot was very warm, and it felt comfortable to hold after soaking it in the water.

The soles of my feet, scalded red, smelled sweet and soft. If I could, I'd love to swirl them right into my mouth, but I'd probably get kicked for doing that. The reward is just too good to pass up.

"Wenmo is really strange."

Seeing him examining her feet so intently, Xia Lian tilted her head in confusion.

It's not that I find it annoying; he can do whatever he wants. It's just that I feel something is strange inside.

Wenmo raised his head, seemingly realizing he had been watching for too long, and quickly put her feet back into her slippers, obediently helping her put on her slippers before getting up.

"Alright, let's go to sleep."

It shouldn't be cold tonight.

After all, I had just washed my feet, and I could hold her in my arms.

Looking back at Xia Lian, she didn't seem very tired, but she still followed obediently behind like a child.

Wen Mo crawled into the blankets, reached out to Xia Lian beside him, and pulled her into his arms.

"Wuhu is warm."

Friendly reminder: If your child feels cold while sleeping in winter, you can find a companion to cuddle with while sleeping.

...

When Wenmo regained consciousness, he was already on his way to school again. He sneezed; he felt a bit chilly because he had kicked off the covers yesterday.

"Wenmo, have you caught a cold?"

"I don't have a cold, just a slight chill. Drinking more hot water will make me feel better." Wen Mo hugged his arms and shivered. He took out the kettle and took a sip, which warmed him up considerably.

On the other hand, the woman next to her showed no signs of catching a cold. Well, being held in someone's arms the whole time probably makes it hard to catch a cold.

"Drink more, hot water." Xia Lian squeezed in front of Wen Mo and said with a very serious expression.

"I know, I'll drink a few more sips myself."

He reached out and patted her little head, Wen Mo smiled and made a few perfunctory remarks, but suddenly felt a chill down his spine.

It wasn't because I caught a cold, but I just felt a chill down my spine for no reason.

Looking back, there was no one there, only a few yawning passersby, office workers, or students eating breakfast while walking.

"What the hell...!"

Wen Mo muttered something, then turned and pulled Xia Lian along as they continued towards the school.

Pretending to be unintentional, the two walked as usual, but when they turned a corner, Xia Lian looked at Wen Mo with a strange expression.

"Shh," Wen Mo whispered, covering his mouth.

Seeing that his expression didn't seem to indicate he'd gone to the wrong place, Xia Lian didn't say anything.

After walking through two more forks in the road, the two arrived at the school gate without incident.

"Pay attention in class, see you after school."

"Um."

Wen Mo smiled and waved goodbye to Xia Lian in the teaching building.

However, the next second, he withdrew his smile, his expression turning icy cold as he glanced back at the school gate, which was now completely deserted.

He deliberately took a longer route in the morning.

That chill down his spine wasn't an illusion, Wen Mo clicked his tongue in amazement.

I'm being followed.
