Chapter 209 The Cicada is Hidden Behind

With nothing else to do, I came to check on my good friend's playful banter.

Wen Mo originally thought that was the case, but after only one day, the two of them were back to normal, bickering and laughing with each other on Qin Zhou's desk.

"Really? Hahaha, if it's true, then you'd be like a shark's arm, hahaha."

Xiang Xiaonan laughed loudly, patting Qin Zhou's back repeatedly with solid "thump-thump" sounds, clearly not holding back her strength.

Qin Zhou, however, seemed oblivious, only eager to explain, "It was an accident! Please don't tell anyone!"

"What's making you so happy?"

"Holy crap?!"

The two cursed in unison and looked to the side. Wen Mo had already taken his seat and was idly listening to the gossip.

"You walk so quietly." Qin Zhou patted his chest, relieved to see no one was around, and whispered, covering his mouth, "It's nothing serious, I just accidentally stepped in dog poop on my way to school..."

Before he could finish the last word, Qin Zhou was slapped away. When he looked up again, Wen Mo had an expression of utter disgust.

He stepped in shit and went around telling everyone how awesome he was.

I came here to watch you guys fight, and you're talking to me about such disgusting topics first thing in the morning?

"Tsk tsk tsk, hopeless." Wen Mo shook his head and clicked his tongue a few times. He originally thought that the two of them would stay in the same state as yesterday for a while, but they were back to normal after only one day.

I originally wanted to help my good brother out, but then I thought better of it. He should take care of his own relationship; if I just help him, he won't improve at all.

I just hope for a good outcome before graduation.

"Alright, alright, let's get down to business. I have something very important to tell you." Wen Mo clapped his hands, gesturing for the two to look over as if coaxing a child.

Seemingly noticing the serious look on his face, Qin Zhou and Xiang Xiaonan both consciously put away their smiles and listened attentively.

Something happened this morning, can you give me some advice on what to do?

"What's wrong?"

"...Lianbao and I were being followed." Wen Mo pinched his chin, still feeling a chill down his spine from the thought of that morning, as if they were being followed no matter where he went.

Upon hearing this, Qin Zhou gasped, his face filled with shock.

Seeing his reaction, Wen Mo sighed softly, "You also find it terrifying, right?"

"No, I'm shocked that you've already started calling her Lianbao? That's so intimate."

"Can't you at least pick out the important points?!"

Wen Mo gritted his teeth, suppressing the urge to slap him to death, and then shook his head and rubbed his forehead, "Give me some ideas, should we call the police or what?"

Xiang Xiaonan frowned, as if she had thought of a possibility, "Could it be that they came to deliver a love letter? Or maybe they just have a crush on one of you, like Wen Mo did last time?"

"Impossible." Wen Mo interrupted before Xiao Nan could finish explaining, "Even if you like someone, you wouldn't follow them all the way to their home. Lian Bao and I felt a chill down our spines almost as soon as we stepped out the door."

It's normal to have feelings of affection, and it's understandable to follow someone you like around at school, trying to get close enough to exchange a few words.

But the situation is definitely not that simple. If that guy hadn't followed him all the way to the school gate, Wen Mo would have almost not realized he was being followed. And as soon as he entered the school, that guy seemed to turn around and leave immediately.

This shows that he is not a student at this school at all.

Qin Zhou crossed his arms. He had never been good at using his brain, and after thinking for a long time, he still couldn't come up with a solution.

It's so itchy, I need to grow a brain.

"So you're not calling the police? What are you trying to do?"

“I didn’t even get a clear look at his face. Even if I call the police, they’ll just think I’m being paranoid.” Wen Mo waved his hand and took out his phone to send two messages to Xia Lian.

Mo: Did you notice anything unusual on your way to school this morning?

Almost the instant the message was sent, Xia Lian replied.

Lianbao: No.

Lianbao: What's wrong?

They also sent a concerned emoji.

After chatting with her for a bit, Wen Mo felt much better. He didn't tell Xia Lian about being followed, and even thought that if it was someone targeting Lian Bao, then he would have to ask his father to take action.

Although he usually seems no different from any other middle-aged uncle or father, he has been in the workforce for so many years that his network of connections is far beyond what a young person like me can match. I figured he could probably manage to get the stalker arrested and put him through the wringer.

"I want to catch him and then call the police." Wen Mo clenched his fist, exhaled, and revealed his plan.

"Catch them?" Qin Zhou's interest was piqued. He didn't want to use his brain for anything, but he was quick to act. "How? Where? Do we have a chance?"

"Hey, let Wenmo finish speaking first!"

Xiang Xiaonan rolled her eyes at him, and subconsciously wanted to push Qin Zhou's face back with her hand, but her hand inexplicably stopped in mid-air, and the next second she changed her target and pushed his arm.

Wen Mo noticed this detail and smiled to himself.

As expected, what happened yesterday won't be over so quickly; it will probably drag on for a while.

But the focus now is on the stalker. Wen Mo beckoned, and the three heads gathered on the desk, whispering and sharing their opinions.

"Will this work?" Qin Zhou looked puzzled after making the plan, but since Wen Mo had said so, he could only follow it.

"You'll know once you try." A cold glint flashed in Wen Mo's eyes. If he could, he really hoped that what happened this morning was just his imagination.

...

At the foot of the teaching building.

Xia Lian felt strange. In the past, Wen Mo would always ask her to wait at the school gate, but today she saw Wen Mo at the foot of the teaching building.

"Wenmo".

"Mmm, you're very good." Wen Mo scratched her chin like he was petting a kitten, which made Xia Lian's eyes narrow slightly.

There weren't many people in the school building right now, because Wen Mo had deliberately stayed late to pick Xia Lian up from school.

"So, as I just told you on my phone, you're going to walk home by yourself today. Can you manage that?"

Xia Lian nodded her head vigorously, indicating that she could do it.

I received a WeChat message from Wenmo just before class ended, telling her to wait in the teaching building until there were only a few people left before leaving the school. Today, she was also inexplicably told to go home alone.

Although it was strange, Xia Lian didn't say anything, perhaps Wen Mo had some important things to do.

"Goodbye, Wen Mo." Xia Lian waved obediently, turned and walked towards the school gate. Halfway there, she turned back and waved again before finally leaving at the corner of the school gate.

Wen Mo's smile gradually disappeared. He waved inside, and Qin Zhou and Xiang Xiaonan, who had been hiding in the stairwell, revealed themselves.

"Let's go, let's follow her."
