Chapter 217 Just Like Him (shuhaige.net)

I haven't felt this comfortable in a long time.

In the past, my dad would occasionally pick me up from school in his car, especially in the winter when it was raining. Whenever I saw his car at the school gate, I would feel very safe, no matter how cold the weather was.

The same applies to cars nowadays.

He has two women he loves most, and a father who is most reliable.

Wen Mo felt the warmth of the car's heater, reached out and pulled Xia Lian's head into the crook of his neck, her soft breath making his neck itch a little.

"If you want to sleep, take a nap first. I'll wake you up when we get there."

"Hey, don't fall asleep yet, we'll be there in a few minutes. You can sleep when we get home," Wen Yiquan, who was sitting in front of me, reminded me.

"Dad, I love you so much."

"...Your sudden change in attitude is making me feel a little disgusted, to be honest." Wen Yiquan got goosebumps all over.

In the past, the father and son's relationship was like an argument. They would argue about everything, big or small, and they couldn't stand each other.

But Wenmo, who had passed his rebellious phase, had come to understand his father's hardships. He had to support such a large family and go to the company to earn money every day. To be honest, it would be a lie to say that he didn't feel sorry for him.

"You only like your dad, not your mom, right?"

Su Juan, sitting in the passenger seat, snorted unhappily, turned her face away like a little girl, and deliberately gave Wen Mo a cold look.

Wen Mo chuckled awkwardly, "I like them all."

Xia Lian blinked, seemingly realizing she should say something too, and poked her head out from his arms, saying sweetly, "I like it too, Uncle and Aunt."

"Xiao Lian knows how to talk. She should learn from her."

Su Juan nodded in satisfaction, then turned to give a word of advice to her son.

Wen Mo smiled on the surface, but was cursing inwardly.

I was the one who started by speaking from the heart! This guy is just imitating me, a bootlicker!

Turning to look at Xia Lian, and seeing that she still had that innocent and adorable look, his resentment from before instantly vanished and was completely healed.

"Wenmo, what's wrong?"

"...It's okay, you're so cute."

Since you're so adorable, I won't be angry if you give me a couple of kisses when we get back. Even though you took advantage of me, I'm magnanimous and won't hold you responsible.

"Alright, you two stop whispering." Wen Yiquan glanced at the back seat in the rearview mirror, his expression unreadable, then stepped on the gas and sped into the underground parking lot before turning off the engine. "We're here. Let's go home."

"Oh, I'm home, I'm home."

Wen Mo excitedly opened the car door, then stood outside to protect Xia Lian's head, preventing her from hitting the door frame when she got out of the car.

Su Juan noticed all these little details. These little details were very touching, and she could tell that her son's gentle behavior was not an act, but that he really cared about this girl.

The group walked through a familiar corridor, behind which was their home, where they had lived for over a decade. The last time they returned was to have a reunion dinner with Xia Lian.

Su Juan stretched and said, "Do you two want to take a shower? If so, I'll run some hot water."

Xia Lian looked puzzled, tilting her head as if she couldn't understand why she needed to use hot water for a shower. Shouldn't she just turn on the shower and start washing?

Seeing her expression, Wen Mo pushed Xia Lian's shoulder and walked towards the bathroom, then called out to Su Juan behind him with a grin, "Mom, you go and rest. We can figure this out ourselves."

After saying that, he covered his mouth and whispered in Xia Lian's ear, "Why don't you take a bath? There's a bathtub here, it'll be quite comfortable."

This is why hot water needs to be prepared in advance. Before Xia Lian could agree or disagree, Wen Mo had already pushed her into the bathroom, where a large, pure white bathtub lay in the middle.

"I... I'm not very good at using it."

Xia Lian said timidly.

"It's alright, taking a bath doesn't require any advanced skills. I'll fill the tub with hot water for you, just lie down and you're good to go." Wen Mo turned on the handle and waited for the hot water to fill the tub, then playfully raised an eyebrow and teased, "Of course, don't soak for too long, or you'll get dizzy. But I'll rush in and save you, don't worry."

"Yes, Wen Mo remembers, he saved me." Xia Lian breathed a sigh of relief.

"...I was just kidding. You can soak in it by yourself for a while. I'll remind you when it's almost time."

Wen Mo's lips trembled slightly. After giving a few more instructions, he closed the bathroom door.

"If I don't go back today, will Xiao Hei not have dinner?" He muttered to himself, stroking his chin. "Oh well, it's all grown up now. Even without its parents, it has to learn to take care of itself."

Without much thought, Wen Mo returned to the living room and plopped down on the sofa. The familiar elasticity made his butt bounce a few times, and he tilted his head back contentedly. "The sofa at home is definitely the most comfortable."

"Don't break the sofa again." Su Juan rolled her eyes and came over with two glasses of milk.

"Hehe, thanks, Mom."

Wen Mo took the cup, and as soon as he took a sip, the scalding temperature burned his tongue. He kept panting like a dog, "It's a little hot, but it's okay."

"The other cup is for Xiaolian, so don't you dare drink it."

"I'll try my best." Wen Mo took small sips of milk, then casually put down the cup, seemingly waiting for the other person to speak first.

After waiting a while and seeing that Su Juan didn't speak, he let out a long breath, his expression gradually becoming serious. "Mom, just tell me what's on your mind. Stop testing me."

I noticed my mom's gaze was off as early as when we were in the car; she kept sneaking glances at the back seats, which is unlike her straightforward personality.

Having lived with her mother for so many years, she could tell at a glance if her mother had something on her mind. So, she tricked Xia Lian into going into the bathroom so the two of them could have a private chat.

Su Juan didn't speak, but looked up at the inner room and muttered to herself, "Your father seems to be asleep. He's very tired today."

“It must be really tiring. He suddenly ran to the police station halfway through his shift. I feel sorry for him,” Wen Mo chimed in.

Seeing no clue on his face, Su Juan's eyes remained calm as she looked at her manicure and casually asked, "Your new manicure looks good, doesn't it?"

"nice."

“Men, they just like pretty girls. Your dad was no exception when he was pursuing me.” Su Juan smiled casually, a slight curve appearing at the corner of her mouth, and looked directly at Wen Mo. “Xiao Lian is very pretty, isn’t she?”

Wenmo didn't know what he meant, but he still told the truth, "Very beautiful."

“Your dad told me you’re in a relationship.”

"They did talk."

"With whom?" Su Juan narrowed her eyes slightly.

"...Mom, who do you think would be a better match for you?"

Su Juan yawned, said nothing, reached out and pulled Wen Mo's head close, then ruffled his hair as if it were fun.

They didn't stop until they had ruffled his hair into a messy, unkempt style.

Looking at Wen Mo's guilty eyes, Su Juan tapped his nose with a sly smile, "Your father isn't good at lying, and neither are you."
