Chapter 218 I love her to death

"Mom, so you knew all along."

Even if Wenmo was slow on the uptake, he could tell that his mother's words had a hidden meaning. On the surface, she was teasing him for not being good at lying, but in reality, she was blaming him for not speaking out about what was on his mind.

"What could you two possibly hide from me?" Su Juan shook her head.

When she heard that her son was dating, she was immediately filled with curiosity.

What a joke! Who is my son?

Although there might be a mother's bias involved, Su Juan still thinks her son's looks are perfect, and finding a girlfriend would be a piece of cake for him.

But that's the most strange thing: this kid has never been in a relationship since he was a child.

Children mature quite early in elementary school, and some girls even wrote him love letters. But he would read them for a while and then take them home to show his mother. In the end, he never gave her a response.

The reason is simple: the text was written in a very obscure and difficult-to-understand style. For Wenmo, who was still a child, not a single word was comprehensible.

Things are different now. How come there's a new little sister in the family, and this kid just happens to be in a relationship? Is this some kind of miracle?

Putting aside the issue of the iron tree blooming, at least Wen Mo has finally come to his senses and understands love and affection. All that previous entanglement wasn't in vain, and Su Juan is very gratified.

“Although Xiao Lian is indeed very beautiful, you must have no shortage of pretty girls who like you.” Su Juan took out her phone and found many old photos in a collection called “Son”.

The book contains many love letters written by little girls to Wen Mo, which Su Juan photographed one by one as a memento.

"That's different. The face is one thing, the most important thing is..."

"What is it?" Su Juan raised an eyebrow.

Wen Mo choked up. He didn't know how to describe what he wanted to say. After a long pause, he finally managed to utter a few words, "The most important thing... that unique feeling."

He only blushed and felt his heart race when he was around Xia Lian. Every time he looked at her, he would think... Wow! How could she be so beautiful?

It's like it has a built-in filter.

"The most important thing is my heart. My heart has already chosen her." After thinking for a while, Wen Mo gave a more reasonable explanation and patted his chest.

"I never expected you to say such cheesy things."

Wen Mo lowered his head sheepishly and muttered, "It's all because you insisted on asking, Mom..."

The mother and son talked for a long time, chatting casually, with most of the conversation revolving around Xia Lian. They also took the opportunity to tell Su Juan about their recent visit to the cemetery with Xia Lian.

"You've said so much, you should at least give me an answer."

Wen Mo couldn't help but say that after going around in circles for so long, he still hadn't gotten a definite answer.

Su Juan rested her chin on her hand with interest, "It's like you two will break up if I don't agree."

"...You already know, yet you still insist on asking."

"Am I prettier or is Xiao Lian prettier?"

"you."

"You're kidding me. I'm already in my fifties or sixties. How can I compare to a young girl?" Su Juan yawned.

"..."

Wen Mo was a little hesitant to speak. He really didn't know how to deal with his mother. Although she was a middle-aged woman in her fifties, he always felt that she was still like a child at heart.

Occasionally, she can be quite assertive, like in this situation, as if she's trying to pry out all the truths from Wenmo's mouth and heart.

"We started out as just ordinary people, and gradually we fell for each other," Wen Mo explained softly, hoping to clear his name.

Of course, he didn't mention anything about what happened in between—holding hands, sleeping, kissing, hugging, he couldn't say anything about it.

"We only hit it off later, so we're having a great time talking now." Su Juan nodded in realization.

"So are you trying to break us up, to separate us like lovers...?" Wen Mo decided to be direct and immediately asked the question he most wanted to ask.

"I don't remember saying anything like that." Su Juan glanced into the inner room and nodded helplessly. "It's a pity your dad is asleep, otherwise I would have asked him a couple more questions. How could you not tell me about something so important? You two are getting bolder and bolder, don't you care about your wife and mother anymore? Waaah..."

After saying that, Su Juan even pretended to cover her face and "cry," but Wen Mo found this act of sorrow to be completely fake.

What should I do if my mom is too childish?

"Okay, Mom, I was wrong, okay? I'll definitely tell you right away if anything happens in the future."

"That's what I've been waiting for." Su Juan's expression changed instantly, as if by magic, and she patted Wen Mo's back with a grin. "It's a promise, okay? From now on, no matter what happens, you have to tell me right away."

"So childish..."

"What did you say?"

"It's nothing, I just want to hear your opinion," Wen Mo changed the subject.

He always ignores other people's opinions. After all, such a big decision can only be made by listening to his family. He will try his best to change his mind if his parents have any opinions, but breaking up is impossible. He will just cooperate on the surface.

"What opinions could I possibly have? I just hope my son and daughter can live a good life and be happy in the future." Su Juan leaned back on the sofa and couldn't help but sigh about life.

This was her initial hope for happiness, and also the biggest reason why she felt so sorry for Xia Lian.

As a mother herself, she understands the bond between mother and child best, and when Wenmo was little, she wanted to hold him in her arms every day.

Sometimes I think about what will happen when I die, leaving my son all alone in the world.

Can he take care of himself? Can he feed and clothe himself? Can he live a good life?
