"Huh?" Wen Mo put down his phone, somewhat surprised. "You're so scared, yet you still want to go to class?"
Upon hearing this, Xia Lian crossed her arms and placed them flat on her lap, a hint of timidity in her eyes.
"The tuition fees have already been paid; it would be a waste if I didn't go to school..."
As soon as she finished speaking, the previously serious atmosphere between the two of them suddenly changed, making Wen Mo almost burst out laughing.
He pinched his thigh several times before he could stop the upturned corners of his mouth. He looked at Xia Lian with a worried expression and said, "I don't object, but I'm still very worried about your condition."
Then, Wen Mo changed the subject, "Why don't you try to make some friends? That way you might feel more at ease at school."
When the word "friends" was mentioned, Xia Lian's already expressionless face showed an added hint of timidity. "I don't really want to have contact with other people..."
"Are you scared?"
"Because...I find it very annoying..."
Wenmo scratched his cheek awkwardly and pointed at himself, "You and I get along pretty well, don't you?"
Xia Lian shook her head, her eyes serious. "Wen Mo is different from others." As she spoke, she gently squeezed Wen Mo's palm. "I have Wen Mo, and that's enough."
Hearing this, Wenmo felt a surge of warmth in his heart; at least his love for her hadn't been in vain.
"Although I'm happy you said that, I can't be by your side all the time. I still hope you can make some familiar friends."
The two were not in the same class, or even the same grade. He did not want to see Xia Lian spend her three years of high school alone in the class.
Xia Lian lowered her head and remained silent upon hearing this, a hint of hesitation flashing across her pretty face as she drew circles on the table with her finger. "I'm not very good at...making friends."
"Let's take it slow. Let's start with our deskmate. Go to the bathroom together a couple of times and you'll get to know each other. Once you're familiar with each other, you'll become friends. It's that simple!"
He patted Xia Lian on the shoulder, his eyes full of tenderness.
"Also, you don't have to worry about being bullied at this school."
Xia Lian stared blankly at him, seemingly not understanding why Wen Mo was so certain.
"Really?"
Wen Mo's eyes revealed a hint of confidence.
"First, we go to the same school. You can always come find me in the third-year class if you need anything. As for the second, well..."
He didn't continue, instead keeping everyone in suspense.
You'll find out tomorrow.
