Chapter 2 Girl

"What? You secretly took pictures of me before? And even printed them out to keep for yourself, huh?" Wen Mo gave a disgusted look, as if he himself was disgusted.

On the other end of the video, Wen Yiquan was exasperated and quickly showed the front of the photo, saying, "Take a closer look at the photo to see if it's you before you speak."

Upon hearing this, Wen Mo, who was usually quite casual, finally glanced at it briefly.

Looking at it this way, the person in the photo is indeed not him, but... a little girl?

The girl was about ten years old, dressed very simply, all in dark colors, and the photo inexplicably gave off a strange feeling.

Normally, children should be happy when taking pictures, or at the very least, they should pretend to be happy and show a smile.

The little girl, however, had slightly drooping eyebrows and no curve at the corners of her mouth; her entire face showed no emotion.

Especially those lifeless, dull eyes, which always seemed strangely familiar to Wen Mo…

Suddenly, Wen Mo's mind went blank, and the two figures in his mind overlapped. "It's her?"

Seeing his son's reaction, Wen Yiquan understood what was going on.

"You two must have met today, right? She must have grown up a lot since then."

"Hmm... I have seen her before." He recalled her various actions in his mind. "She said she knew me, but I didn't remember her. It startled me at the time..."

"Serves you right, why didn't I scare you to death?" Wen Yiquan chuckled, with a sly expression. "Now we know each other."

Then, as if remembering something, he casually added, "Oh, by the way, she's actually yours..."

At this point, Wen Yiquan paused for a moment, and after thinking for a while, he realized the relationship between the two: "She is your cousin."

"Oh, I see... um?"

Wen Mo didn't react for a moment and was completely dumbfounded.

Then his eyes widened suddenly, and he sprang off the sofa. "Aren't you and Mom only children?"

"And why can you say something so important in such a calm tone?!"

So shocked was he that a thousand thoughts raced through his mind, and he even wondered if the girl was his father's illegitimate daughter.

“Distant relative, distant relative. I didn’t know this girl before. You two are several generations apart and have no blood relation. It’s just a title.”

Upon hearing this, Wen Mo took a while to recover. Then, he quietly leaned forward, held the phone to his face, and cautiously asked, "You really aren't lying to me?"

What good would it do to lie to you?

"I hadn't heard of that at all before..."

"Hey, hey, hey." Wen Yiquan waved his hand to signal him to shut up. "Actually, everyone has a few distant relatives they don't know. It's perfectly normal."

"You're really not your illegitimate daughter?" Wen Mo asked, his face full of suspicion.

"...Is this how you see me?"

Upon hearing this, Wen Mo remained silent for a long time on the other side of the screen before gently placing his phone back on the table.

I'll trust you this once.

It's still easier to accept than being an illegitimate child.

"It's okay if you two aren't familiar with each other now; you'll get to know each other gradually."

“What future…” Wen Mo muttered, seemingly unaware of the seriousness of the word “future.”

"Haha, take your time. By the way, where is she now? I haven't seen her at all."

Wen Mo looked back at her room, but there was still no sound. She was probably still inside wiping herself down.

"She was a little tired just now, and she's drying herself off in my room now."

As soon as the words were spoken, the two of them froze almost simultaneously, and an eerie silence fell over both sides of the video.

"..."

"..."

"You beast...!"

"Holy crap! It's not what you think! Let me explain!!"
