This is the naval monument of Alexandria. In fact, you can see ancient buildings almost everywhere when you walk around the city. Although none of them is the main destination of Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo, the profound historical background of Alexandria is enough for Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo to ponder.
It was already noon when they arrived at the ruins of the Lighthouse of Alexandria. There were not many tourists and the street vendors were too lazy to greet Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo. What was more surprising was that Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo were approached by a handsome Egyptian guy who was also here for fun and were asked to take a photo, even though the tour guide had previously warned Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo not to take photos with locals.
But because the guy was so handsome, they couldn't help but take pictures. Maybe Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo were considered special in their eyes. In a rare route where there were not many Chinese people, Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo were unexpectedly welcomed.
The main building is a lighthouse ruin, but it is obviously newly built. Not only is the sea water here crystal blue, but looking up at the sky, it is indeed much bluer than Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo’s hometown.
Street vendors are sorting out their products. I admire them for being able to set up their stalls so calmly under the scorching sun. What I admire even more is that they all have an optimistic and beautiful attitude. No matter what work they do, they enjoy it. Perhaps only by bringing happiness to everyone can things be sold more easily. Most of these products are made in China and are indeed popular all over the world.
A row of discarded hookah bottles. In fact, ignoring their function, their appearance is still very delicate and distinctive. If they could be smaller, it would be a good choice to take them home as handicrafts.
There are many people fishing on the coastline, and the prices of houses along the coast of Alexandria are quite high. It seems that no matter where people are, they all hope to have a house facing the sea with flowers blooming in spring.
The water near the Mediterranean Sea is very pure and light green under the sunlight, while the sea a little further away has gradually turned into a dark blue, very beautiful and clear. There are many chairs and parasols on the beach for tourists to stare at the sea and chat. This may be the way Westerners spend their holidays, find a place and stare quietly together...
Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo's lunch was the long-awaited local Egyptian grilled fish meal. The restaurant was near the lighthouse. The overall meal was similar to the Egyptian meal the night before, except that the French fries and grilled meat were replaced with grilled fish and shrimp.
I still can't get used to the side dishes and sauces mixed with spices, and the grilled fish also feels a bit burnt. Sometimes I think the biggest obstacle to going abroad is not getting used to eating local food. Who can blame our Chinese food for being so colorful? What about nutrition?
The main course was grilled fish. Although he was not very used to it, he was still moved by the sincerity and simplicity of the waiter. He finished this local delicacy happily. He asked Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo for ballpoint pens as small gifts for his three children.
They said that this way they could show off to other classmates that they had imported products from China, but suddenly they discovered that these inconspicuous things in China actually have a big market in many places.
At noon, a call to prayer came from the mosque at the door. The imam reminded the Muslims to pray. In Egypt, mosques and minarets can be seen everywhere. Devout Muslims pray five times a day on time, which once again confirms the great power of religious belief.
After finishing the dry and salty grilled fish meal, I really needed a drink. Water in Egypt is very expensive, a can of Coke costs 10 Egyptian pounds. Fortunately, I got a cup of warm black tea from the lovely leaders Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo. After drinking it, a strong sense of happiness immediately surged in my heart. Egyptian black tea is very sweet.
But you won’t get sick of it at all. Sweets can easily make people feel happy. Maybe they rely on this daily drink to maintain a happy mood.
The streets of Alexandria are cleaner than those of Cairo. There are still some unfinished buildings, but the number is less. Especially the houses near the sea are well built. Egyptians also pay attention to enjoyment, which can be seen from their beds and decorations. Perhaps they don't need to worry about superficial work, and they will have more energy to take care of their lives.
The cats here are so pretty and energetic that I can't help but capture them in my camera. After finishing lunch, they are scratching themselves with difficult movements, and their expressions are so cute.
The kind driver, Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo were on a tourist bus from Huaguo Yutong. Many domestic cars could be seen on the streets of Egypt. Only then did they realize that they were also constantly expanding the international market. I hope they can continue to win a larger market with high-quality products.
After lunch, Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo moved on to the next attraction, the ancient Greek and Roman amphitheater and the famous Pompeii's Column. Although there were many attractions and the time was tight, Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo did not seem to feel tired at all. The constant sense of freshness and unexpected gains enriched the entire journey.
While driving, Yunluo saw a couple dating on the beach. The girl was wearing a black robe, which made Yunluo feel very curious. Would there be any obstacles in their communication?
However, the eyes of Arab girls are very expressive. I wonder if it is because of the veil that they have such charming eyes. However, the girls in Alexandria are more open and fashionable. You can see many girls wearing denim skirts and trousers on the streets, which is rare in Cairo.
There are bus stations and tourist buses along the Mediterranean coast, but the buses here are relatively crowded. If you are traveling by yourself, it is recommended to charter a car yourself. Fuel is cheap anyway. Egypt's public transportation is not particularly convenient and comfortable.
We came to the ancient Greek and Roman amphitheater which has completely turned into ruins. It is said that the original was similar to the Colosseum in Rome. The people living in this city at that time were more Roman than the Romans. They liked to take baths, loved poetry, and loved watching dramas and gladiatorial performances.
Worshiping art and heroes, Yunluo had seen relatively complete ruins in Rome, but now the remaining buildings are full of holes. It seems that this is another attraction that can only be imagined.
The emblem of Alexandria, Egypt - Pompeii's Pillar (Savary Pillar). Pompeii's Pillar, also known as the Knight's Pillar, is a 27-meter-high pink Aswan granite pillar built during the reign of Roman Emperor Diocletian around the first century AD. The top of the column is topped with a flower-shaped capital. The pillar was originally part of the Temple of Sarapiy.
The Temple of Sarapiyon is the most important temple of the Greek-Egyptian god Sarapis. It was originally built during the reign of Ptolemy III. The temple existed for only a short time before it was destroyed. Only the stone columns were preserved, which became a beacon for sailors. The huge stone columns have stood for 1,600 years.
It turned out that during the reign of Roman Emperor Diocletian, the Roman general Ahri stationed in Alexandria rebelled, and Diocletian personally led a large army to suppress the rebellion and besieged the city for 8 months. At that time, there was a severe famine in Alexandria, and starving people were everywhere. Diocletian transferred grain and distributed it here to help the victims.
To commemorate this, the Egyptian archon Posthumus erected a stone column in the center of the square of the Serapeum Temple in 297 AD. To this day, the commemorative words engraved on the foot of the column can still be seen: "Posthumus erected this column for the invincible patron saint of Alexander, the just Emperor Diocletian."
Now, the stone pillars are decorated with some artworks from the Pharaoh period, the main ones being two black granite sphinxes (with missing heads) from the end of the 18th Dynasty and two red granite sphinxes from the Ptolemaic Dynasty.
This is a complete misunderstanding: In 48 BC, the Roman general Pompey fled to Egypt after being defeated and died at the hands of the Egyptians. Later, when the European Crusaders invaded Egypt, they mistakenly believed that Pompey's ashes were stored on the top of this giant column, so they called it Pompeii's Pillar.
The residential buildings next to the ruins of Pompeii's Pillar, the various satellite TV receivers on the roof, the very special balconies and colorful curtains. Yunluo has always been fascinated by the Arab world, because the more mysterious and different the place is, the more fascinating it is...
There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!
After visiting the last attraction, Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo drove back to Cairo. During the drive, Yunluo was digesting and recalling what he had seen and heard the whole day. Although Alexandria was not a place Yunluo particularly longed to go to at first, it gave Yunluo a great surprise with its beautiful natural scenery and profound historical and cultural heritage.
Yunluo fell deeply in love with this place. Alexandria as a whole gave Yunluo the feeling of being a "special zone" and a port garden city in Egypt, a place suitable for living and vacationing.
The people here are still very enthusiastic, and most importantly, the area near the Mediterranean is indeed a good place for handsome guys. For girls like Yunluo who have never seen the world, just observing passers-by along the way is a visual feast.
After arriving in Cairo, they happened to encounter a huge traffic jam. Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo slowly moved to the cruise ship pier, ready to start a night cruise on the Nile River.
The night view of both sides of the Nile River at the pier where the cruise ship is docked is not particularly well done, and the buffet on the ship is relatively average. However, the highlight of the night cruise on the Nile is the belly dance and whirling dance performances, especially the whirling dance performed by the handsome Turkish guys, which is so wonderful. It's a pity that the camera's night shooting effect is not very good.
I was unable to take photos to share with everyone because we had already seen such a wonderful dance. When we went to Turkey, we consciously saved the money to watch the Sufi dance.
The night on the Nile River is romantic and beautiful. After getting off the boat, it was as if we had been pulled out of a dream. On the second day in Egypt, Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo enjoyed a very pleasant time in the wonderful and fulfilling itinerary.
In fact, the truly cultural Egypt was on the third day of the tour. Nalan Shiqi and Yunluo saw the diverse civilization that was transformed from a long history. In Cairo, there is not only Islam, which is popular in the Arab world today, but also Christianity and the polytheistic religion of ancient Egypt with thousands of years of history.
Sometimes I find it incredible that they can coexist. Islam believes that Allah is the only God and does not worship idols at all, while Christianity, which has similar doctrines, not only accepts God but also some legendary saints. (To be continued...)
