Chapter 876: Her talent is that she never gets fat

**Official is not only compassionate and has great design ideas, but also a natural management expert. He designed a complete fund source management system and personnel management system to keep his ideals moving forward.

In addition to the money paid out of the governor's own pocket and the sponsorship he tricked from the Grand Duke of Burgundy, the governor also opened a high-end sanatorium ward in this hospital, providing paid medical services to the rich to subsidize the expenses of the poor.

As if that weren’t enough, he constantly bought or tricked wealthy people into donating real estate, namely vineyards. At its peak, the hospital had 1,300 hectares of donated vineyards, and the sale of high-end wines could continue to subsidize the hospital’s expenses. In fact, the fact that Beaune has now become the wine trading market in Burgundy is definitely related to the establishment of the Hôtel-Dieu.

Today, the Hôtel-Dieu has only 58 hectares of vineyards, but because it produces top-quality wines, its wines are sold every year through a famous auction. With this auction, the entire Burgundy will enter the wine trading season. This is the wine of the Hôtel-Dieu and its vineyards - what An Chuyu and his friends saw when they rode their bikes the next day.

The visit to the Hôtel-Dieu was absolutely delightful. It was a pleasure to walk around and listen to the Chinese tour guide. In addition to the hospital, after hundreds of years of operation, it naturally accumulated a lot of art collections.

The highlight of the collection is a set of "The Last Judgment" decorative screens, which are in classic Flemish style and painted with tempera. They are very gorgeous and are the treasure of the Divine Palace Hospital.

It is said that in the past, every major festival would be brought out to be displayed for everyone to see.

In addition, there are also many oil paintings and decorative tapestries. These works of art are usually placed in front of patients in the hospital - some are placed in large wards, and some are placed in wards for the rich. Their purpose is the same, which is to relieve the pain of patients. Let them purify their minds and reflect on themselves during the time they are in bed.

This accommodation was the only one that An Qingju and An Chuyu did not book breakfast for (except Paris). Breakfast is very important when traveling. It is much more convenient to go out after having a full meal. Most of the accommodations that An Qingju and An Chuyu booked include breakfast. Even if it does not, An Qingju and An Chuyu will book it.

In France, it costs about 8 Euros per person to book breakfast separately, which is acceptable, after all, breakfast is very rich. But the breakfast in this hotel costs 16 Euros per person! Forget it, I ate in the room. Fortunately, the big supermarket on the edge of the city has everything, so it is no problem to have a delicious breakfast in the morning.

After settling in, An Qingju and An Chuyu drove back to the city to buy food for the next day. They also prepared dinner for An Qingju and An Chuyu. Here, An Chuyu finally ate the kebab that he had been dreaming about for two years - the last time he had it was in Germany.

Kebab restaurants are basically equivalent to Chinese roujiamo restaurants, which are usually take-out restaurants, but also dine-in restaurants. Unlike the experience in Germany, it seems that French kebabs like to sell set meals, which are kebabs + fries + soda drinks. Of course, you can also order them individually, but the set meals are very affordable.

Just like in Germany, the restaurant owners and cooks are all fat Turkish guys wearing white T-shirts. The boss ladies are all quite aggressive. The boss lady in this Beaune restaurant is in charge of taking orders and is even more aggressive. She doesn't understand a word of English, and her French is passable. When taking orders, she simply taps the light box above the counter with a broomstick, "ce?oui?ok!"

Today is a big day because An Qingju and An Chuyu are going to ride bicycles to visit the Burgundy wineries and go to the Meursault that they have longed for.

When checking in, the hotel gave An Qingju and An Chuyu two wine tasting tickets to a famous winery called Pommard in Burgundy. An Qingju and An Chuyu wanted to go there. These are all on a bicycle "self-driving" road.

You can rent bicycles directly from the hotel, all of which are mountain bikes. If you need a helmet, they will provide it for free (An Qingju and An Chuyu didn't ask for one, but it's better to ask for one). Bicycle rental is 15 euros per day.

How to find the bicycle routes in Burgundy? It's very simple. First, go to the tourist center in Beaune and ask. They will give you a detailed bicycle route map. Second, ask at your hotel or B&B where you are staying. You can also get a map, download an electronic map or even GPS navigation information.

See it? It’s the second icon on the upper left corner of the website, a green bicycle sign. Just follow this sign on the road and you’ll be on your way.

The starting point of the bicycle route is in the west of Beaune. An Qingju and An Chuyu have to ride through Beaune first. Today is Saturday again, and it is a market day as usual. There are small stalls everywhere in the Plaza de la Hôtel-Dieu and on the main road. It seems that all 20,000 residents of Beaune have come out, and it is very crowded. Pushing the bicycle all the way, it is a feast for the eyes.

I pushed the cart and looked at the stalls at the same time, and it took me a long time to squeeze out of the crowd; I passed through the entire old town of Beaune and easily saw the little man sign for the bicycle path - I found the way.

The good thing about traveling in developed countries is that everything seems to have been carefully planned for you. This wine road bicycle tour is absolutely fine as long as you follow the road signs. In addition, you can get a special bicycle tour map at the tourist center, so it is difficult to get lost.

Once you start cycling along the wine route, you will be shocked by the overwhelming vineyards in the Burgundy region. It is estimated that the French do not grow food, and the land is planted with these high-value crops.

It was different from the vineyards that An Qingju and An Chuyu had in mind. Grapes here were for making wine, and all the grape plants were short, about one meter tall, and they were lined up in rows across each field. The grapes that An Qingju and An Chuyu saw were still green.

There were no people working hard in the fields, but occasionally you could see the tractors that were used to prune grapes, as shown in the upper right corner of the photo. These tractors were designed with a one-meter-high arch between the left and right wheels, which made it easy for the tractors to drive over a row of grapes, making pruning grapes very convenient.

It seems that grape cultivation is a completely mechanized operation and is well developed. On the way, An Qingju and An Chuyu passed by a grape field with the logo of the Zhugong Hospital. Each grape field is from which region. Generally, a small doorway is built by stone on the side of the road, with the logo of the region engraved on it.

The bicycle path along the grape fields is the path shown in the photo. This bicycle path is different from the car path. If you drive, you will pass directly under the grape fields, so you don’t have to worry about avoiding cars when riding on this road. The occasional car passing by is a slow-moving grape tractor.

It's basically uphill from Beaune to Meursault. If you don't have a mountain bike with gears, you probably can't handle it. The weather in Burgundy in summer is just like the photo. It's sunny with high clouds. It's very sunny when there are no clouds to block the sun. You can see the clouds with rain at a glance. The black clouds are gray all the way to the ground. It must be the rain belt.

Although it was a mountain bike, it was still tiring to ride. We occasionally met other cyclists on the road, and everyone greeted and encouraged us warmly. However, it was already 12:30 when An Qingju and An Chuyu arrived at Pommard. It took more than an hour to ride 5 kilometers. The first stop of the wine road after leaving Beaune was Pommard, where An Qingju and An Chuyu tasted wine.

Pommard is actually the name of a village, and the wine here is Pommard wine. When I was writing the travel notes, I checked it online. It turns out that Pommard (Chinese translation: Pommard) is quite famous. I guess anyone who knows red wine will know it.

The hotel gave An Qingju and An Chuyu two tickets to enter Chateau de Pommard for wine tasting. As soon as you enter this winery, you know it must be very high-end. There is even a Dali art sculpture in the yard.

Sure enough, after looking at An Qingjue and An Chuyu's wine tasting tickets, the staff told An Qingjue and An Chuyu that an English tour guide would explain the knowledge of the wine here to An Qingjue and An Chuyu in about 40 minutes, and An Qingjue and An Chuyu could use this time to visit the art gallery and exhibits in the castle.

This art gallery is a real art gallery. All the collections are from the owner of the winery. It can be seen that they are all big spenders. The one that An Qingju and An Chuyu know actually has many original works of Dali and Picasso.

The showroom houses the winery's earliest grape juice press and various tools used to make wine by hand in the early days. All of Pommard's wine bottles are specially made, and those who know the wine can probably recognize it from the bottle.

The tour took exactly 40 minutes, and then a beautiful French girl came out to explain to An Qingju and An Chuyu in English. Although it was in English, the French accent of this girl was quite heavy and it was hard to listen to.

Usually, An Qingju and An Chuyu would listen to a passage with their ears erect, and then An Qingju would summarize it briefly in English and ask the other party, "Is this what you meant?" In this way, they would almost understand it by guessing along the way. A great wine tasting master in France summarized it this way.

"The secret of Bordeaux wine lies in the wine cellar. The secret of Burgundy wine lies in the soil." This means that the characteristics of all Burgundy wines depend on the soil of the grapes used to make them. There are five kinds of soil in the vineyards of Pommard, which produce five kinds of grapes. Of course, they also purchase grapes from other places and then make wine using their own secret methods.

There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!

Burgundy wines are generally not blended, and are made from a single variety of grapes, which is probably a unique style. Pommard does not produce grapes for white wine, but they also make white wine using their own technology and purchased grapes.

Finally, the girl took An Qingju and An Chuyu to taste 4 kinds of wine, the first one was white wine, and the last three were red wines. The first three were unpalatable (An Qingju and An Chuyu understood unpalatable as being particularly astringent and dry, of course, I heard that Burgundy wines are generally drier)!

And there is also a smell of shoes or wood chips. Later I checked and people said that it is a sign of good wine, a smell of leather. An Chuyu went! The last one is their signature wine. Even An Qingju and An Chuyu who don’t know much about wine think it tastes good and smooth. A bottle costs 75 euros.

An Chuyu privately thought that the first three wines were hard to drink, which made the last one taste better. Although the young lady in the winery suggested that An Qingju and An Chuyu buy some wine, they declined. 75! How much money can you save by not drinking or smoking?

At this point, I guess people who know wine will feel sorry for An Qingju and An Chuyu. They should have bought it! After spending a few days in Burgundy, people like An Qingju and An Chuyu who are complete wine idiots will gradually learn something.

An Qingju and An Chuyu learned that the wine production in Burgundy is very low. It is true that the characteristics of the wine are linked to the vineyards. The vineyards are so small, so how can the production be high? Burgundy has many varieties of wine, many of which are famous, but the total wine production accounts for less than 10% of France's own wine production.

Therefore, Burgundy exports very little wine. It is said that the French prefer Burgundy wine, and they consume most of it in China. An Qingju and An Chuyu did not buy any wine. They rode their bikes to Meursault.

It was a 3-kilometer road with a big uphill slope, and we rode for more than an hour. When we arrived, it was already past two in the afternoon. The fancy French restaurants were all closed, so we had lunch.

The German headquarters in "The Great Escape" is easy to find and can be seen at a glance. It is the high-rise building with glazed tiles. This shows that An Qingju and An Chuyu did not come to the wrong place.

This building is just opposite the church in Meursault. I don't know what it is used for now, but there is a large square outside the building, and wine tasting services are also provided, and the wines are produced near the village of Meursault.

Now let's talk about the wine tasting method in Burgundy. This method is applicable to wine tasting services in any wine cellar or wine trading market in Beaune. In Burgundy, it is completely possible not to buy wine but just want to taste it extensively. You only need to pay a separate wine tasting fee.

The wine tasting fees in different wine cellars and castles are different, but they are basically the same. The unit is calculated per seat. A wine tasting tourist can taste 5-10 different wines for a certain price.

In large wine cellars and wine markets, after you pay the fee, they will give you a wine glass engraved with their winery's logo. You can use this wine glass to taste the wine, and you can also keep the wine glass as a souvenir.

For larger wine cellars, there are many varieties of wine, and they usually let you pick a few of each grade of wine to taste. They will also recommend the most high-end wine in the cellar for you to taste - which has a leather flavor, haha.

But how do you know which wine you want to taste among dozens or even more wine flavors? They also provide considerate services, and there will be a device like the one in the photo below in front of each wine cellar. (To be continued...)
