After leaving the hotel, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu officially started their half-day tour of Utah. Since Yunluo wanted to take photos of the church at night in the evening, the Mormon headquarters was put last, and the Utah Jazz home court became the first stop. In fact, most NBA stadiums are not very interesting, but the Utah Jazz is different.
This team carries too much history and honor, and has also nurtured one of the greatest partnerships in basketball history - a bronze statue of Karl Malone and John Stockton was placed at the entrance of the stadium. Under the statue is a Tai Chi Bagua diagram. The two statues are built right on the Yin-Yang eyes, which is a very clever design.
Yunluo photographed this group of bronze statues from different angles and took photos with them as a tribute to the two legends.
After leaving the stadium, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu began to look for the Mormon headquarters, but before they found the headquarters, they thought they had found the Utah State Capitol. Yunluo had never heard that this Capitol was so magnificent, but after coming here, he felt that it was even more magnificent than the Federal Capitol in Washington.
Later, Yunluo felt that the building looked more and more familiar. When he saw the words "state of utah" on the stone wall in front, he suddenly remembered that he had seen the scene here in the CCTV documentary "Currency".
The story of a small town in Utah issuing its own currency was introduced in the magazine Currency. It also mentioned that the Utah State Assembly passed a proposal to issue its own currency, and there was a shot of the Capitol. Now that I'm here, I'm going to take a lot of photos. The clouds in the sky today are pretty good, and with the light from the setting sun, the photos I took are pretty good.
The entire building is surrounded by a huge lawn, where citizens occasionally come for a walk. There was also a bride taking wedding photos here, which added a romantic and peaceful atmosphere.
Yun Luo stood on the highest step of the Parliament Building and looked down at the entire city. It was peaceful and tranquil. There was no noise of car horns or people coming and going. The entire city was quietly waiting for the sun to set and the night to come.
This unexpected attraction made Yunluo excited, but the Mormon headquarters was the last one that Yunluo was looking forward to the most. The Mormon church was very grand, and its holiness was even more prominent under the setting sun. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu had already entered the church courtyard wall, and two enthusiastic student volunteers who spoke Chinese were willing to explain to Yunluo and Yan Chenyu.
The two girls were devout Mormons who had taken a year off from school to introduce Mormonism and the history of these buildings to tourists at the Mormon headquarters. They were both Chinese Americans. They didn't speak Chinese fluently, but they still tried their best to explain Mormonism and the doctrines it respected to Yunluo and Yan Chenyu.
After listening to their introduction, Yunluo really felt that sometimes having a belief is a very happy thing. A valuable belief can make people kind-hearted, self-disciplined, strong and upright. One of the Mormon creeds that Yunluo admires most is that they attach great importance to family harmony and believe that a happy family is the source of kindness.
The beliefs they uphold, such as love, sincerity, chastity, law-abidingness, and atonement, are also accepted and advocated by society. Yunluo has met many Christians in the United States over the years, and he is particularly impressed by the friendliness they exude from the bottom of their hearts.
The two Mormon volunteers did not intend to persuade Yunluo and Yan Chenyu to join the church, but just calmly and gratefully expressed their understanding of these doctrines. The sincerity they revealed was really touching.
After listening to their explanation, night gradually fell. The headquarters church also turned on the white lights. The whole building became more solemn when illuminated by white. Yunluo took out a tripod to take pictures of this sacred church, and sincerely appreciated and admired the church's contribution to the peace of human society.
After taking photos of the Mormon headquarters, Yunluo went back to take some photos of the night view of the State Capitol Building. It was almost ten o'clock when they finished. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu not only took a lot of satisfactory photos during this half day, but also cleansed their souls to a certain extent. It can be said that this trip was worthwhile.
Yunluo really likes Salt Lake City. She said goodbye to Salt Lake City in the morning.
Salt Lake City is the halfway mark of the journey. The circle drawn by the clouds on the map has completed the arc below. The next two national parks we will visit are really too famous - many people have never heard of Arches, Zion, or Bryce Canyon. But no one has not heard of Yellowstone.
If you come to Yellowstone, you must also visit Grand Teton. The two national parks are only 30 miles apart. Grand Teton is located south of Yellowstone and is the first national park you pass when heading north from Salt Lake City.
Many people come here to visit Yellowstone and then spend a day in Grand Teton. In the research before coming here, Yunluo saw countless travel notes reminding him not to underestimate the beauty of Grand Teton.
After seeing so many photos of Grand Teton, Yunluo was more convinced that this statement should be correct. So Yunluo arranged a two-day and two-night trip specifically for Grand Teton, and camped for these two nights. The beautiful Grand Teton accompanied by the excitement of the first camping experience should be an unforgettable memory.
It was already afternoon when they arrived at the small town of Jackson at the foot of Grand Teton. The town was crowded and lively. Tourists from all over the world used this town as a supply base for the two national parks. There was always a constant stream of people here. Since there was nothing missing in the car, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu did not stop in Jackson and went directly to Grand Teton.
The sunset here is very late, and the sun is still shining brightly at around 4 or 5 in the afternoon. Since the Teton Mountains are to the west of the entire park, the setting sun gradually makes the Teton Mountains a silhouette.
But even so, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu could still feel the magnificence of the mountain. The lakes and rivers at the foot of the mountain added to the scenery. It was hard to imagine how attractive this place would be when the sun shone from the east in the morning.
Since Grand Teton is most beautiful in the morning, and Yunluo and Yan Chenyu’s camping site does not accept reservations and is only on a first-come, first-served basis, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu plan to go directly to the campsite to complete the check-in procedures.
There are many camping sites in Grand Teton National Park, scattered throughout the park. Yunluo chose the largest and most fully equipped campsite, Colterbay Village, based on everyone's reviews. This campsite is located in the northernmost part of Grand Teton, close to Jackson Lake, and has beautiful scenery.
When Yunluo and Yan Chenyu arrived at the entrance, an old man in his sixties handled the formalities for them and arranged them in the innermost part of the camp, close to the lake. It only takes two or three minutes to walk to enjoy the scenery of Jackson Lake.
He also reminded Yunluo and Yan Chenyu to be prepared to defend against bears. Each camp was equipped with a large iron box, and all food had to be locked in the box at night. Even water was not allowed to be left in the tent.
Hearing him telling Yun Luo these precautions so seriously, Yun Luo showed a little fear. The old man smiled and said to Yun Luo, don't worry. There are more than a thousand people camping here every night.
The design of the camping area is very standard, with a main road at the bottom and many one-way loop paths next to it. Everyone sets up camp along the paths according to the roadside numbers. Many RVs here also start to show off their functions, each of them parked on the roadside like a Transformer.
Each campsite had a small stove, and next to the stove was a fixed wooden table and a bear-proof box. Yunluo was very excited when he arrived at his own campsite. He quickly took out the tents and folding chairs that had been sleeping in the back of the car for a week, and found a flat place to camp.
Since the temperature difference between the night and day in Grand Teton is nearly 30 degrees Celsius, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu also brought a lot of cotton-padded jackets and quilts to stuff into the tent. After laying out, the tent became very comfortable. Yunluo kept taking pictures around this small camp, and the novelty made Yunluo feel like a child.
After cleaning up the campsite, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu decided to consider dinner. They heard that every campsite was equipped with complete facilities, including convenience stores, bathrooms, post offices, and gas stations, so Yunluo and Yan Chenyu decided to go to the service center to have a look.
This service center is just around the corner from the entrance to the camping area. The shower room and laundry room are connected to a convenience store and gift shop, and a little further away are the restaurant and visitor center.
Yunluo finally got to experience the advanced camping facilities in the national park. The store was small but had everything. The bathroom even had shampoo and shower gel, and the laundry room even had wireless internet access. No wonder Americans like to drive RVs and camp outdoors. Such superior conditions can indeed attract many tourists.
Yunluo and Yan Chenyu wanted to have a barbecue in the evening. They bought a piece of fresh beef rib eye and a bag of fresh vegetable salad from the convenience store, found a thick barbecue plate from the gift shop, bought a bunch of firewood and charcoal, and finally got a few free newspapers to start the fire. In this simple way, they bought all the ingredients for cooking in the evening.
Yunluo is full of anticipation for the field kitchen to be built and believes that it will be a very interesting experience.
In fact, Yunluo thinks that successfully starting a fire is half the battle of barbecue. In the past, when I barbecued at my friend's house, I spent a lot of time to start the fire. All kinds of newspapers and sound dyes had to be used to ignite the carbon.
There is no mistake in the poem, post, content, and read the book on 6, 9, and bar!
This time, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu, two barbecue beginners with almost no experience, had trouble making a fire. It was impossible to light the firewood directly with a lighter, and it was difficult to get sparks on the firewood even if some newspaper balls were piled on it. After several newspapers were used up, the wooden sticks and charcoal blocks remained calm and lay quietly in the stove.
Listening to the rumbling sound in their stomachs and looking at the bloody raw meat, Yun Luo and Yan Chenyu looked forward to it.
Yunluo could only ask for help from the Americans in the nearby camp. Several old men and women were roasting marshmallows and chatting around the boiler. When they saw Yunluo coming, they greeted her enthusiastically. After Yunluo explained the situation to them, two white-haired uncles stood up and smiled, wanting to come over to help Yunluo.
Seeing the sticks in Yunluo and Yan Chenyu's stove, they laughed and said that it would never be possible to light them like this. So they took Yunluo to the small woods behind, quickly picked up a lot of dry branches, and picked up a lot of small tree forks with yellow needles from the ground, and came to the stove.
They put all the dead branches and twigs, along with some newspaper balls and charcoal blocks, at the innermost part, and placed the firewood on the outermost layer, forming a hill-like shape, and then ignited the newspaper balls inside.
The newspaper ball instantly ignited the yellow needles, and the high flames that quickly ignited immediately ignited the dry branches. After a few seconds, the firewood slowly caught fire, and finally the carbon blocks slowly burned red. The fire was very strong, and the two uncles smiled with satisfaction when they saw Yun Luo and Yan Chenyu's happy expressions, showing the pride of a master teaching his apprentice.
Yun Luo and Yan Chenyu had mastered the first lesson of outdoor barbecue. The flames were enough for them to finish this dinner. After the fire gradually stabilized, they put the grilled meat board they had just bought on the iron rack next to the stove and grilled the tender and juicy steak.
Rib-eye has always been Yunluo’s favorite. He orders it every time he goes to a steak house. This time he made it himself, and it smelled surprisingly delicious.
The cooking method of steak is quite particular. You must first bake the plate until it is very hot before putting the steak in. Do not turn the steak back and forth. Wait until the bottom is cooked and the blood gushes out before turning it over. After a few minutes, you can eat the tender rib eye that is 70% cooked. The sliced steak is accompanied by a refreshing salad. This dinner is really delicious.
Grand Teton gradually fell into darkness. Yunluo and Yan Chenyu cleaned up the leftovers from dinner, hid all the food, and began to enjoy this wild night. The temperature dropped sharply, and Yunluo and Yan Chenyu both put on thick cotton jackets, guarded the tent, roasted the remaining fire, and looked up to the bright starry sky.
This is the most stunning sea of stars Yunluo has ever seen. A Milky Way stretches across the sky, and the stars in the sky are like diamonds scattered on the ground, hanging in the sky. Yunluo found a tripod, set up the camera, and exposed it for 25 seconds. Yunluo took this stunning picture. The dark night was extremely quiet, and the purity of the original ecology made every cell of Yunluo feel comfortable.
Living in the city, Yunluo and Yan Chenyu seldom have the opportunity to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Appreciating the brilliant starry sky has become a luxury, and lying in the silent forest has become a pleasure.
Good night, beautiful Milky Way. Watching the sunrise in Grand Teton has always been Yunluo's wish. Having seen so many praises of the Grand Teton sunrise, Yunluo can't wait to see its charm with her own eyes.
Last night was the first time in my life that I slept in the wild. The temperature in the tent was close to zero degrees Celsius at night. Even though I was wearing a cotton jacket and covering myself with a quilt, I couldn't avoid feeling cold.
But Yunluo felt that she slept pretty well. Although it was far less comfortable than sleeping on a Simmons mattress, it basically satisfied her basic need for rest. (To be continued...)
