The day after the New Year will be the day that Su Xun and Tang Shi agreed upon.
February is the time when spring is still chilly, and the camphor trees on both sides of the street still have green leaves, swaying and trembling in the cold wind.
Su Xun and Tang Shi arranged to meet at noon at the milk tea shop they used to frequent.
It's been five and a half years since I last came here, and not much has changed, except for a few new dishes that look pretty good.
It takes Su Xun more than an hour to get here from her grandmother's house. She left early and arrived at 9:30. It was still early, so she ordered a hot bubble tea with full sugar.
The taste is still the same. I've tried milk tea from many shops over the years, but I still miss the taste of this place the most.
At 9:50, Tang Shi pushed open the door and immediately saw Su Xun sitting in a booth playing on his phone.
"Su Xun, we're here." Tang Shi ran over.
Fortunately, the passageway was fairly spacious, so Tang Shi wouldn't bump into anything while running over.
Su Xun put down his phone, stood up, and looked at the person who had come in. Tang Shi, wearing a camel coat, had cut her hair into shoulder-length bobs and had it slightly permed. The ends of her hair curled up in a lazy way, making her look much more mature.
Su Xun noticed the man following Tang Shi. He was tall and slender, and his long coat accentuated his figure, showing off his long legs. Looking further up, he saw a pair of captivating peach blossom eyes, full of affection.
If it weren't for the fact that he could still vaguely make out the familiar facial features, Su Xun would almost not have recognized that this was Pu Xiaochuan.
That chubby kid from before! No wonder they say chubby kids are all high-potential stocks; it seems like investing in them really is worthwhile.
"Su Xun!" The handsome young man's eyes lit up when he saw Su Xun, and his captivating peach blossom eyes trembled. "It's been so long since I've seen you. You've changed so much."
Su Xun knew how much she had changed over the years; her height alone was astonishing. She used to be the shortest in her class, but now she had grown to 168 cm, which was considered above average height in the south.
"Xiao Chuan, you've changed quite a bit too." Su Xun smiled.
Pu Xiaochuan scratched his face, a little embarrassed, "Hehe."
Although her appearance has changed a lot, her personality seems to have remained the same.
"Pu Xiaochuan started dieting after entering high school, and under my supervision, he finally succeeded in his weight loss mission." Tang Shi proudly gave a thumbs up and pointed to herself.
"Let's sit down first. What would you like to drink? I'll order." Pu Xiaochuan looked around awkwardly. There were only the three of them standing in the shop, which felt very out of place.
The group quickly sat down.
They were old friends, and even though they hadn't seen each other for several years, their old friendship was still there, and the atmosphere quickly warmed up.
Tang Shi must have already told Pu Xiaochuan the reason why she left back then. Pu Xiaochuan didn't mention those difficult days, but only talked about his current situation.
"I haven't even condemned you two yet. You were all flirting with each other in private back then, and you didn't say a word when you had a fight later. That's so unfair of you."
Back in junior high, Su Xun had a vague feeling that something was off about the two of them, but she didn't ask too much for fear of embarrassing them. She never expected that so many things would happen. If they hadn't finally gotten together, she probably would never have known that the two of them had a past.
"Well, that's all in the past," Pu Xiaochuan said with a laugh.
"Back then, we were worried that you would feel awkward being caught in the middle of us. Besides, we were young and naive back then, and our skin was thinner than paper."
Su Xun was obviously not serious about pursuing the matter, and quickly changed the subject.
The group chatted enthusiastically, from the milk tea shop to the mall, where they had a meal together and wandered around. Around 5 p.m., as dusk began to fall, they reluctantly said goodbye.
