Chapter 23
On the day of departure, the Zhao siblings and Jing Tao got up early to pack their bags.
Dongfang Yang personally escorted them to the city gate.
Su Mu thanked Dongfang Yang and, together with Ren Dong, mounted their horses.
“Jing Tao is gone,” Ren Dong said, pointing to another horse and signaling Jing Tao to get on.
Jing Tao loaded the luggage onto the horse, then looked back at Dongfang Jin, who was behind Dongfang Yang, and tilted her head.
Dongfang Jin's eyes met Jing Tao's, but he silently lowered his head, not daring to look again.
Seeing Dongfang Jin standing there blankly, Jing Tao walked forward in confusion and took out a folded piece of paper from her bosom.
Dongfang Jin glanced at her father subconsciously, took the paper, and opened it. What came into view were the two names, "Jing Tao" and "Dongfang Jin," written crookedly.
The feeling from that night instantly flooded her entire body, and Dongfang Jin looked at Jing Tao in disbelief.
As if she knew that Dongfang Jin was not leaving with them, Jing Tao turned around and walked towards the Zhao siblings.
Dongfang Jin watched Jing Tao's departing figure, getting further and further away from her step by step. Was it them who were leaving, or was it herself who wanted to break free from all of this?
Just as Jing Tao was about to mount her horse, Dongfang Jin shouted the name "Jing Tao" with all her might.
Jing Tao immediately turned around and looked at Dongfang Jin who was rushing towards her.
The moment Dongfang Jin set off, dozens of demon hunters beside Dongfang Yang also immediately set off towards her.
Jing Tao immediately ran towards Dongfang Jin and punched away the demon hunter who was about to grab Dongfang Jin. Upon seeing this, Dongfang Jin ran towards the horse.
"Bring the young master back to me!" Dongfang Yang rarely showed anger.
The moment Dongfang Jin passed Jing Tao, Jing Tao immediately crouched down and assumed a fighting stance, her expression remaining unchanged as she faced the dozens of demon hunters heading towards her.
Dongfang Jin quickly mounted her horse and turned back to shout loudly to Jing Tao, "Jing Tao, come quickly!"
At this moment, Jing Tao was surrounded by the demon exorcists and could not escape.
"Never mind her, go find Dongfang Jin!"
Upon hearing the order, the demon hunters immediately changed direction.
Jing Tao, however, blocked everyone's path with a single palm strike.
Today, no one can get past her!
However, facing the siege of dozens of people, Jing Tao gradually became unable to withstand it.
Finally, Jing Tao reached behind her and instantly drew her sword. With one strike, a demon hunter was severely injured in the thigh and unable to move. In another instant, another demon hunter's sword fell.
To quickly end the battle, Jing Tao pulled a small knife from her boot with her left hand. With her nimble figure, she weaved through the crowd, each strike not fatal but incapacitating her victims. When she reached the last person, Jing Tao crouched down, braced herself with her hand on the ground, and kicked the man away.
Within ten minutes, all the demon hunters in Dongfang City had fallen to the ground. Jing Tao immediately sheathed her sword and ran towards Dongfang Jin without looking back.
Dongfang Jin reached out her hand, and Jing Tao caught it, using the leverage to mount her horse.
Dongfang Jin glanced back at her father, her eyes filled with resentment and regret, before finally turning back, mounting her horse, and leaving the place where she had lived since childhood.
As Dongfang Yang watched the departing crowd, seemingly having anticipated this outcome, he asked, "Is this the life you wanted to choose?"
The two horses galloped swiftly until they reached a safe location before gradually coming to a stop.
Su Mu asked, puzzled, "Why did you come along too?"
"What? Only you can leave the city?" Dongfang Jin replied casually.
"What did Jing Tao just give you?"
"Why do you talk so much?" Dongfang Jin was a little impatient, but still took out the paper from her pocket and opened it.
After seeing this, Honeysuckle said, "Isn't this what I taught Xiaotao to write?"
Dongfang Jin put away the papers, turned to look at Jing Tao, and was in a good mood. She then took out an orange from her sleeve, peeled it, and handed it to Jing Tao.
Upon seeing this, Jing Tao immediately picked it up and started eating.
"But are you alright after escaping like this?" Ren Dong asked with some concern.
"We've already run away, we can't just go back now, shamelessly."
"But can your young master's body adapt to the lives of us poor people?" Su Mu asked.
Dongfang Jin calmly took out a money bag and twirled it in front of the two of them.
Judging by its bulging appearance, you can tell there's a lot of money.
Ren Dong smiled. "Is this enough for you to live on for a few days, Young Master Dongfang?"
Dongfang Jin gave a wicked smile and said, "Who said this is silver?" Dongfang Jin opened the money bag and showed it to them.
The two of them stared wide-eyed.
This is definitely not silver, it's gold!
Su Mu immediately began to flatter, "It still has to be Young Master Dongfang!"
The four men and two horses gradually set off for their next destination.
