0003 Blind Date
"I don't ask much of my wife. I just want her to give up her work and focus on our family..."
Upon hearing what the man opposite him said, Jiang Jifan suddenly burst out laughing.
The man in the black suit suddenly stopped talking and looked at her with a puzzled expression. "What's wrong, Miss Jiang?"
"But did I say something wrong?"
Jiang Jifan glanced at him, his eyes filled with undisguised disdain and arrogance, and slowly said, "Mr. Ji's requirements are far too high for me."
Ji Li chuckled lightly, "For a successful woman like Miss Jiang, focusing on family shouldn't be a difficult thing, right?"
"Since Mr. Ji says I am a successful woman, then what makes you think that a successful woman would give up her hard-earned career to focus on her family?" Jiang Jifan tilted her head slightly, looking at him with a puzzled expression.
A cold smile curled at the corner of her lips: "Or do you think that becoming a housewife is the right choice for a woman? Or that they can gain more from this process than from working?"
These words left Ji Li speechless. Jiang Jifan, seeing that Ji Li couldn't come up with anything convincing, clearly acknowledging what he had said, rolled his eyes inwardly.
She reached for the bag beside her, then stood up from her seat and looked at him with a fake smile, as if he were an ant, saying, "I, Jiang, am not worthy of being Mr. Ji's wife."
"You should save your time to find other housewives who are interested in you; those kinds of women are more suitable for you."
She recalled one of his remarks, and a sarcastic smile curled at the corner of her lips: "Oh, right, in my opinion, the greatest value a man can create is to disappear from this world forever, just like Mr. Ji, a piece of trash that even recycling wouldn't want."
After saying that, he turned and left, ignoring his angry calls behind him.
Jiang Jifan walked briskly down the aisle of the coffee shop in her seven-centimeter high heels, but her bright and beautiful face was as black as charcoal just fished out of a brazier.
Damn it, what bad luck! He still has the nerve to call himself a PhD who returned from overseas? The things he said sounded like something a brainless idiot would say!
What does it mean that "women are merely appendages of men"? What does it mean that "a woman's greatest value in life is childbearing"?
Ha, if his mother heard these words, she'd probably stuff him back into her belly and smother him to death.
Just as she was cursing under her breath, the phone she was clutching in her hand suddenly vibrated. She looked down at it.
Caller ID: Crazy Woman.
Perfect timing, she's angry but doesn't know who to vent it on.
Jiang Jifan lightly swiped the green key, and before the other person could speak, he gritted his teeth and growled, "Xing Yeye, is your boyfriend also an idiot? Otherwise, how could he have such a pig-headed PhD friend?!"
If she hadn't kept emphasizing that her boyfriend had a good-looking and well-off friend who had returned from overseas, and insisted that she come to meet him today, she wouldn't have come at all!
"Everyone talks about biodiversity, and today I've really run into a typical example. Do you want to hear some famous quotes from his so-called PhD friend?"
She poured out her rant in a rapid-fire manner, and after finishing her rant, still not satisfied, she added, "This kind of brain-dead idiot should be nipped in the bud!"
Xing Yeye on the other end of the phone looked completely bewildered, utterly confused by her sudden outburst of abuse. "No, my sister, you really are my sister..."
Jiang Jifan pursed his lips as he listened to her constantly explaining herself on the other end, saying that she would definitely go to great lengths for her today, and that she would dump her useless boyfriend as soon as possible to give her an explanation.
She sneered, "Don't come with me..."
"ah!"
A sound like ceramics clashing rang out.
"Jifan, what are you doing over there?"
Jiang Jifan heard Xing Yeye's urgent greetings coming from the other end of the phone. He glanced down at his off-white suspender jumpsuit, which was now stained and filthy from spilled coffee, and then looked at the waitress in front of him who was constantly apologizing. He closed his eyes tightly.
What day is it today? Did she not check the almanac before going out?
The waitress kept apologizing to her, saying, "I'm so sorry, miss! I'm so sorry!"
Then he bent down and took a clean white towel to wipe the coffee stains off her chest.
When a stranger touched his sensitive areas, Jiang Jifan instinctively took a step back and reached out to block him.
The waitress was slightly taken aback, then seemed to realize what had happened, and immediately apologized to her with a flushed face.
"Never mind." Jiang Jifan sighed, too lazy to make things difficult for her anymore. He frowned, glanced at the coffee stains on his clothes, then clutched his chest and left.
It would have been fine if it had gotten somewhere else, but it had to get here. Jiang Jifan stood at the entrance of the coffee shop, one hand covering the embarrassing stain on her chest, the other holding her bag and typing on her phone, preparing to ask Xing Yeye to bring her some clothes.
