Chapter 5
Chapter Five
Guan Shiyun's feelings were complicated. She didn't know how to face her current situation. Having gone from being penniless to her current wealth, she had witnessed too much of the evil in human nature, and she knew she was just as hypocritical. Her act of being so noble was merely self-deception, as if the shameful thought of being tempted by the invitation had ceased to exist.
Guan Shiyun looked intently into Li Miao's eyes, feeling that she was like a stray kitten. She knew she was cute and pretty, and accepted food from passersby with a straight face, then responded with a perfunctory meow, attracting even more people to feed her.
Some people tried to tease and coax her with food, but she was smart enough not to fall for it. If they tried to grab her, they would scratch her with their little paws. Such a smart and beautiful kitten was chosen from among the crowd.
Right now, standing right in front of me, I hooked my hand around her clothes, looked at her, and meowed: I know you have lots and lots of cat treats. I'm so pretty, take me home.
She did have some, but she never considered what would happen if she were locked in a cage and not given a cat treat!
"I'll pursue you, sister, let me go with you."
Should I agree? Or should I refuse?
"Come here next Wednesday at 10 a.m., and I'll take you to choose jewelry and a dress."
Li Miao's eyes sparkled with excitement as she rushed over and hugged Guan Shiyun tightly, resting her chin gently on her shoulder, feeling the person she was holding.
It wasn't hair, clothes, or perfume. With her head slightly turned, Li Miao gently rubbed the side of the person in her arms' neck with the tip of her nose, letting out a soft sigh of contentment.
"I will definitely be there on time."
Having achieved her goal, Li Miao walked briskly, feeling elated. When she returned to the car, Lin Bei immediately noticed her smug, self-satisfied expression.
"Did you get their contact information?"
These words were like a blow to the head, turning Li Miao from blissfully happy to feeling utterly snotty. How could she have forgotten something so important? Had she been tricked? Had she pretended to agree just to avoid her and coax her away?
"No, no, no."
Li Miao shook her head, trying to shake the thought away.
"What do you mean you can't? Did you not get their contact information?"
Lin Bei delivered another blow.
"Can't you say something nice?"
Li Miao unconsciously pouted, looking sullen. Lin Bei made a zipping motion, wondering what the two of them were talking about. Seeing that they had been exchanging words for a while and seemed to be doing well, Li Miao floated back.
"Let's go shopping."
"Stay optimistic, it's okay, it won't happen," Li Miao calmly patted her chest to comfort herself.
Unlike Li Miaopiao's euphoric state, Guan Shiyun looked serious, still not recovered from the situation. The hug was too intimate for her, with its intimate whispers and lingering breath on her neck.
Belatedly realizing it, Guan Shiyun's face slowly flushed. Had she... been flirted with? Guan Shiyun placed her hand on her heart, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath, slowly calming her abnormally rapid heartbeat. When she opened her eyes again, they had returned to their usual calm, gentle and tender state.

"It seems you two have a really good personal relationship."
Her tone was calm and relaxed, as if she were chatting casually, but her actions betrayed her true feelings. Guan Shiyun slammed the folder on the table and calmly looked at the uneasy Fang Shuhui in front of her.
Fang Shuhui clutched the hem of her clothes, wanting to explain that things that seemed completely unrelated had coincidentally come together. She felt wronged, but the fact remained that she had leaked several key data points for the project, and that her first project had already run into trouble.
"Mr. Guan, it's not a matter of personal relationship; I didn't leak it intentionally. I..."
"Go and process your resignation."
Guan Shiyun withdrew her gaze and stopped looking at people. Qiu Xue knocked on the door and entered the office without waiting for a response, looking slightly flustered. However, she quickly calmed down and gave Fang Shuhui a look, signaling her to go out first.
"Mr. Guan, this was my oversight."
Upon hearing this, Guan Shiyun's composure, which she had just maintained, cracked.
"Your negligence? Yes, the people you mentored leaked your project; that was indeed your negligence. What? You're leaving too?"
Seeing Guan Shiyun's angry expression and hearing her sarcastic words, Qiu Xue felt relieved. She knew the reason for Guan's anger: she couldn't tolerate 'internal betrayal'.
“President Guan, this matter has nothing to do with personal relationships. She was one of the talents you selected to train. You should know her personality. She just underestimated human nature and was a little too guarded.”
It cannot be determined whether the leak was intentional, which is indeed the case, which is why she waited outside the door.
She had been with President Guan the longest, and over the years, she believed she understood her character quite well. President Guan was concise and efficient in her personnel management, carefully cultivating and developing each person step by step, and she herself was one of those people. She always laid everything out in the open, which meant less time for intrigue and more time for serious business.
"That's where I misjudged her. Back then, her sister Haoli didn't want to keep her, but she was eager to get along with her closely, and even after leaving the company, they were still very close."
Qiu Xue didn't reply, she just listened, and then turned around to make herself a cup of coffee.
"Can't distinguish between work and personal relationships, stupid. Can't keep a secret and doesn't know how to be cautious, stupid. But still doesn't understand the situation, stupid. Go back to Shuhui, just call Fang Shu stupid!"
Qiu Xue handed the coffee to Guan Shiyun.
"He was indeed foolish, and his way of dealing with people was a bit naive."
Is that a little bit?
Guan Shiyun did calm down a bit, because she knew that some people were involved in this matter, but she still couldn't help being angry.
"You go and teach them. If you can't teach them, you can leave too. Pack your bags and go to Sister Li's place." Qiu Xue was completely relieved after receiving the confirmation.
“We have different paths, so you can’t come to me. I will teach you, just like Mr. Guan taught me back then.”
Back at her workstation, Qiu Xue saw Fang Shuhui wiping away tears. Qiu Xue didn't want to comfort her right now; this problem had been going on for a while, and if it wasn't resolved, it would only make things worse.
"Tell me how exactly it was leaked."
"Sister Xue."
Looking at Qiu Xue's current state, Fang Shuhui was reminded for a moment of Guan Zong from earlier. He was calm but dangerous, which made her a little scared.
"If you won't tell me, then let me tell you something first."
Qiu Xue sat down in the seat next to her, looking like she was having a long talk, but she didn't look at the person wiping away tears, like a storyteller talking to herself.
“When you came for the interview, you were rejected by Li Liqing.”
Just one sentence made Fang Shuhui's scalp tingle: the interview was led by Li Liqing.
"It's General Manager Guan who's keeping you here."
Fang Shuhui was shocked again. She had wondered why she was chosen, since everyone who applied was more qualified than her, either in terms of education or experience. The interviewer was Sister Li, and after she was hired, Sister Li had been very kind to her…
“Your performance is poor, your resume is weak, and you lack experience. However, your professional knowledge is solid, and you are very proactive. This is why Ms. Guan kept you; she put you in my team.”
Why did Sister Nali message me?
Fang Shuhui asked, and Qiu Xue looked around at her busy colleagues, seemingly lost in thought.
"I have no idea."
Qiu Xue turned to look at Fang Shuhui, staring into her eyes. "But you can think about the people in her team, and infer from her hiring standards that Guan Zong doesn't interfere with the people in her team, which is the norm in this industry."
Fang Shuhui thought about what had happened in the three years since she joined the company, about Sister Li's attitude towards her and the people in her group, but Qiu Xue did not give her time to think deeply.
"Judging from your expression, I can tell how shocked you were by this, but it was just a small matter at the time. You haven't experienced office politics, and I know you'll be grumbling, but the rumors and gossip you've heard are just the squabbles between people who don't get along. How harmonious can you expect a group of people with different personalities who are here to make money?"
Fang Shuhui seemed to have her secret thoughts exposed and lowered her head.
"I know you mean well, Sister Xue."
"No, you don't understand. It's a hassle to train new people again. Just when you're about to become a fully capable employee, they leave... That's why I'm keeping you here. The reason I'm saying all this is that with your current experience, you can easily switch jobs and find a good one. Boss Guan is decisive in letting people go, but the trouble is mine. No matter how many good things I say about the company to keep you, it's like trying to stop a fish from leaping out of the water. It's useless. You'll only believe it when you jump out."
"What if I want to resign?"
"The HR department is over there, and you know the finance department too."
Qiu Xue stood up and left.
Yes, she's the most troublesome one in this whole affair. President Guan trains people with the expectation of a return, but he doesn't care if those people leave. There are companies that train people, but won't let them go until they see a return; sabotage is all too common.
At first she didn’t understand why, but later she saw those who left build new networks in this industry or other industries, and she realized that it was confidence.
Those who provide a good environment will reap the rewards of new, positive relationships that grow within that environment.
"They've left?"
When Guan Shiyun saw Qiu Xue enter with a long face, she felt all her resentment was directed at her.
"General Manager Guan is quick to fire people, but I'm the one who gets exhausted."
Guan Shiyun got up and brewed a pot of tea. Fortune turns, and Qiu Xue accepted it without hesitation. She had also been talking quite a bit and was quite thirsty.
"Don't be angry, come and take a look at this for me."
"Regarding the film and television industry?"
Qiu Xue looked at the documents handed to her. Currently, Qiu Xue is the only one who is familiar with this area. Guan Shiyun had actually had this idea for a while, but there was no opportunity. Now it's not quite ready yet, so it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.
"Want to try what it's like to be a big boss? I'll give you a chance; fire me."
Qiu Xue looked at the equity agreement that was handed to her along with the agreement.
"Mr. Guan, what's going on?"
"Why don't you try starting a company? You're quite familiar with this area, so you'd be the most suitable person to take on the role. I'd make money too, and you'd earn more than you do now. Even if we lose money, it won't matter. You can experience what it's like to be in charge and hire people yourself."
Qiu Xue's mind exploded like fireworks. Promotion and salary increase wouldn't happen at this speed, but even with her usually reserved nature, she could only manage one sentence.
"Thank you, Mr. Guan."
"Pfft, you're welcome." Guan Shiyun knew she would react this way.
"I'm off work. You can take your time looking at it."
Guan Shiyun's good mood didn't last long before it was shattered by a phone call.
"Hello?"
"Mr. Guan, would you like to have dinner together tonight? I have something very important to discuss."
The person making the call was the 'rumored boyfriend of President Guan' from Li Miao's information.
"address."
