??Chapter 61: Do you know how anxious I am?

Chapter 61 Do you know how anxious I am?

The tall car body rolled over, sending up a spray of water, and stopped four or five meters in front of hers. The glaring high beams switched to low beams, illuminating her pale, shocked face. Seeing that the person in the car was Shi Zhenglin, her chest felt as if a support had been yanked out of her. A complex web of emotions toppled through her numb body like a tide, and she collapsed under the weight of the weight being lifted off her body. He got out of the car and hurried over. The moment he opened the door, Qian Duoduo burst into tears, "Uncle! Uncle! Uncle, come save me! I'm dying!" Her cries radiated fear and deep grievance. He panted, his eyes filled with anxiety and heartache, as he looked from her to Duoduo. "Duoduo, come to your uncle. Don't be afraid. We'll get another car." He took off his coat, half-leaved into the car, and wrapped it around him from head to toe. He looked at her, still shivering, tears welling in her eyes, with a worried look on his face. "Wait for me." Qian Duoduo was carried out by him. He quickly settled her in the back seat and turned on the heater. He returned to remove his coat, touched her head, and wiped the sticky mess off her face. "I'll go get Mom. It'll be quick. Just sit still." The man, feeling safe, nodded with wide eyes, his sobs fading. He turned and ran back. The other person had already gotten out and stood at the door, staring at him intently. The rain had eased a little. He covered her with his coat and reached for her hand, which was cold. He held her close, his lips touching her forehead to soothe her. "It's okay." Warmth swept across her cold face, and she knew the empty space within her had been burned by this man. After helping her into the car, he ran to the other car to get something. Qian Duoduo slid into her arms, "Mom, I'm not scared anymore, and you don't have to be either." The car heater instantly warmed her up. She glanced at the time in his car; it was already half past ten. By the time they'd gotten the luggage over there and loaded it into the trunk, he was soaking wet. Getting in, he wiped the wetness off his face and looked back at her. "I'll have someone take care of that car. Are you feeling unwell?" She shook her head, still unable to utter a word. He dialed his number on his phone and handed it to her. "Lin Yao's looking for her. She's worried." She took it. He adjusted the car's navigation system, started the car, and turned around. A flurry of anxious voices came from the other end of the line. "Oh my God! Shi Zhenglin called you guys! What's going on? I'm going crazy! Is everything okay?" "Nothing." Her voice was still dull. She didn't have the energy to think about how he ended up there, or how he'd contacted Lin Yao. "Where's Qian Duoduo? Qian Duoduo, talk to me!" Qian Duoduo pouted, wanting to cry again. "Sister, I was wrong. I shouldn't have insisted on...

The tall car body rolled over and splashed water, and the car stopped four or five meters in front of hers.

The glaring high beam switched to low beam, illuminating her pale and shocked face.

When she saw clearly that the person in the car was Shi Zhenglin, she felt as if a supporting axis was suddenly pulled out of her chest. Complex emotions overturned in her numb body like a tide, and her body fell into collapse as if the heavy pressure was relieved.

He got out of the car and walked over quickly. The moment he opened the door, Qian Duoduo burst into tears, "Uncle! Uncle! Uncle, come and save me! I'm dying."

The crying releases fear and extreme grievance.

He was panting rapidly, his eyes filled with anxiety and distress. He looked at her and then at Duoduo.

"Come to your uncle's place, don't be afraid, we'll change cars."

He took off his coat, half-stuck into the car, and wrapped himself from head to toe with the coat. He looked at her, who was still shivering and with tears in her eyes, with a worried look on his face, "Wait for me."

Qian Duoduo was carried out by him. He quickly settled him in the back seat of the car, turned on the heater, came back to take off his coat, touched his head, and wiped the sticky mess on his face with his hand. "I'm going to pick up Mom. It will be quick. Just sit still."

Those who felt safe nodded with their eyes wide open, and gradually breathed out of their sobs.

He turned around and ran back. The person in the car had already gotten out and was standing at the door, staring at him.

The rain had subsided a bit. He covered her with his coat and took her hand, which was cold. He hugged her and touched her forehead with his lips to comfort her. "It's okay."

Warmth passed across her cold face, and she knew that the empty space in her had been burned by this man.

After helping her into the car, he ran to the other car to get something.

Qian Duoduo moved into her arms and said, "Mom, I'm not afraid anymore, and you don't have to be afraid either."

The car heater instantly warmed her up. She glanced at the time displayed in his car. It was already half past ten.

By the time he got the luggage over there and loaded it into the trunk, he was soaked. After getting in the car, he wiped the wetness off his face and looked back at her. "I'll have someone take care of that car. Is there anything wrong with you?"

She shook her head, still unable to utter a word.

He took out his phone and dialed the number, then handed it to her, "Lin Yao is looking for her, she's anxious."

She took it.

He adjusted the car navigation and turned the car around.

There was a string of urgent words on the other end of the phone.

"Oh my god! Shi Zhenglin came to you! What happened? I'm so worried! Is everything okay?"

"fine."

Her voice was still dull. She had no energy to think about how he ended up here, or how he got in touch with Lin Yao.

"Where's Qian Duoduo? Qian Duoduo, talk to me!"

Qian Duoduo pursed his lips and wanted to cry again, "Sister, I was wrong. I shouldn't have insisted that mom bring me to play with the lamb. Mom and I almost died. Sister, I miss you a little bit."

Lin Yao comforted him from a distance.

She told Lin Yao that they would talk later, hung up the phone in a hurry, and handed the phone back to him.

The place she had booked was displayed in his car navigation.

"I asked Lin Yao for the place. I'm sorry, I was delayed. I drove here from Lijiang after five o'clock. It was raining heavily on the road and I encountered an accident and got stuck in a traffic jam. I couldn't contact you here, so I contacted Lin Yao again." He simply explained why he was here, but didn't mention why he came.

This time, the headhunting service contract had Lin Yao's mobile phone number, and he wrote it down.

This type of car has a high chassis, so he drove slowly and steadily. When he reached the dry section of road, he sped up.

Maybe it was due to a slight hypothermia, she recovered a little, and seeing that his white shirt was wet, she took off his suit and handed it to him.

"I'm not cold." He smiled at her in the rearview mirror.

He packed up all his work in the morning and only got away in the afternoon, going directly to the airport from the company. He was still wearing business attire and didn't have time to change.

After a while, he called again and Shi Shi answered the phone.

"Hey - Dad, did you find Qian Enming?"

She called him an hour ago and he said he was out looking for Qian Enming, but she didn't get upset.

"Found it. Do you want to chat with him?"

Qian Duoduo was frightened and in a bad mood. He could only talk to her for a few words and answered whatever she asked.

We arrived at the accommodation at nearly eleven o'clock.

Qian Duoduo had fallen asleep. After he carried her out of the car, she continued to sleep on his shoulder.

There was a man on duty at the front desk, and she used her ID card to apply for a room card. The man said that since she hadn't come yet, he thought she was not coming, and also speculated that the car might have stalled on the way. He called her but couldn't get through.

Shi Zhenglin frowned and said, "Why didn't you explain to the customers in advance that since there's a risk of stalling, this road should be closed for management?"

The man explained, "Highways are there to facilitate people and be driven by people. They're closed when certain weather warnings are met. Today's rain was normal, not severe, and it didn't reach the point where it would need to be closed. The rest of us drove here, and we're all fine. It depends on the condition of the car and our luck; everyone's situation is different."

"Is there any room left?" he asked.

"No, we're fully booked every day during the summer. You've booked our largest suite. Isn't that enough?"

The man looked confused. He looked at the man holding the child in one hand and pulling the suitcase with the other, and then looked at Long Weihe.

He went to see her and said, "I'll send your luggage to your room. If you don't mind, I can borrow it to take a shower and change clothes. You can sleep in the car tonight."

"Let's go." She started to look for a room.

The man rushed to help them with their luggage. There was no need to go through many twists and turns to get to the room, and there was no elevator. It was just a few stairs up from the front desk.

Shi Zhenglin went into the room and put Qian Duoduo on the bed.

This room has a typical suite layout. The entrance hall faces a large leisure area with a bathroom but no shower. The bedroom is independent and has a large bathroom with a shower, bathtub, etc.

She stood at the entrance and asked the man who had put his luggage away, "Do you have any food in the restaurant?"

"The chef is off work. If you need a simple midnight snack, I can make it for you."

"Could you please give me a bowl of noodles?"

"One bowl?"

"Um."

"good."

The man was preparing to retreat.

"Wait a minute." She called out, "Please help me put up an extra bed in the living room, thank you."

"Okay, okay, right away."

She closed the door and turned to face the person who had just come out of the room.

He scratched his forehead with his fingers, a little nervous, "I..."

"Wait for him a moment. He's gone to move the bed and said he can cook a bowl of noodles."

She concluded that he had not eaten anything in the evening.

"Thank you!" He was indeed hungry and very tired, and he smiled gratefully. "You take care of yours first, and go take a hot bath."

She went back to the room to see Qian Duoduo.

Shi Zhenglin had taken off his coat and shoes, and he was sleeping soundly. She pulled his little hand out from under the covers and looked at it. It was clenched into a fist, slightly tight, as he would be when nervous. She kissed it again and again, lovingly, and touched his dirty face. She turned to open the suitcase, took out a disposable soft face towel, wet it with warm water in the bathroom, and came back to gently wipe his face.

She showered and washed her hair, feeling weak and powerless. Fortunately, she hadn't experienced any altitude sickness symptoms like hypoxia and headaches on the way.

Quickly drying her hair, she threw on a shirt over her pajamas and hurried to vacate the shower stall.

"The shower is ready." She came to the living room and called him.

He stood up quickly. He had finished eating and cleaned up. The man at the front desk had already made up a folding bed, about a meter wide, for him.

"Are you feeling unwell? Is your temperature normal?" he asked again, staring at her flushed face. Afraid that she might have altitude sickness, he stepped forward to touch her forehead.

"I'm fine." She took a step back. "Go in and take a shower. I'm tired. I'll go to bed when you come out."

She turned her back so she wouldn't watch him grab his personal belongings.

When he was on a long business trip, his luggage storage bag was always filled with toiletries, disposable towels, and pajamas. He didn't have to rummage through his suitcase, he could just grab the storage bag and quickly go into the room.

She sat on the sofa and waited.

The coffee table before her held everything a man would need when he was away: his phone, watch, car keys, ID bag, charger, and so on. Sitting there for a moment, she thought a lot. Everything that had happened today felt like a dream.

The sound of the door opening startled her and she jumped up.

Her mental state was still in shock after the incident.

He wiped his wet hair with a towel. He had just tried the hair dryer inside, but it was very noisy and he was afraid of waking Qian Duoduo.

After glancing at her, he closed the door.

She made eye contact with him and walked past him towards the room. "Good night."

Pulling the door handle, she was suddenly embraced.

There was silence.

His heartbeat, chest heaving, panting, pressed against her back. She felt a soft, warm sensation sinking down.

"Are you okay?" he asked softly.

He could see that there was still fear in her eyes, but he didn't know how to express comfort.

She couldn't respond, her breathing was rapid and her mind was in a mess.

"Do you know how anxious I am today?" He rubbed his face against her hair gently.

Being wrapped in his strong arms, she felt a sense of security. She needed him at this moment.

Feeling that she was weak and frail, he hugged her tighter.

She reached out to touch his hand on her waist, and he took it, covering it with his palm and kneading it gently.

"Do you know how anxious I am? Huh?" He asked repeatedly, his breath moving from the top of her head to her ear. The burning red spot behind her ear aroused the red heat of desire in his eyes.

She turned to face him, looking into his eyes. His eyes were filled with affection, and her fear of him was gone.

The living room light was dim here. He reached out with one hand to cup her face. Her features had long been striking to him. His gaze shifted from her eyes to the tip of her nose. He leaned in, inhaling her scent, locking eyes with hers, and kissing her plump lips.

She leaned her head against the door, and he supported her spine with his palm, pushing up with a little force. She was weak, and her hands rested on his shoulders, her fingertips weakly touching the back of his head and neck. His nerves tingled, and as their lips and tongues entwined, he could hear a hint of her sound. The stimulation of the sound made him open his eyes and look at her. There was pain between her brows.

She suddenly felt short of breath again.

He forced his lips away from hers, restrained his excitement, kissed her forehead, and pressed his nose against hers to calm the kiss that had been suppressed for too long. "I'm sorry. Are you feeling unwell?"

"Um."

"How about sleeping here? I'll sleep on the sofa and take care of you." He stroked her cheek with his hand.

"Duoduo needs care. I'm afraid he'll have a nightmare tonight."

"Let me take care of you two from now on, okay?"
