Chapter 62 Why does uncle hold your hand?
She lowered her eyes, panting, but didn't respond. If they were to talk about love again, he had to accept that she was first and foremost a mother. Just as she said she was worried Qian Duoduo would have nightmares, she heard crying from inside. She broke away from him and quickly opened the door. The blanket had been kicked off. Under the dim light of the sleep light, he was slightly open, his eyes shaking from side to side, crying and talking in his sleep, mumbling "Mom" here and there. She hurriedly knelt on the bed, took his hand, and touched his forehead. It was covered in sweat, a high fever. He stood by the bed, supporting her shoulder, and then touched his forehead. "He has a high fever. I'll get a towel to wipe him down. You go to bed and I'll take care of him." She went to search the suitcase and found a fever patch and Motrin. Before leaving, she had casually stuffed two fever patches and a small amount of Motrin into the suitcase, just in case he got sick on the way. They wiped his sweat together, woke him up, fed him Motrin, and put on the fever patch. He dozed off, but soon fell asleep again. She sat on the edge of the bed, looking at him, completely drained. "You need to rest. Go to bed and get a good night's sleep. I'll watch over him." He squatted in front of her, pulling her hands together and gently touching them to his lips. She pulled her hands back. "He doesn't need any special care right now. A good night's sleep will be enough. You can go out and sleep." They could both see each other's fatigue. He smiled softly and stood up. "Okay, call me if you need anything." He sat alone for a while. He had a bunch of work calls and messages to answer. Someone was urging him to sign and approve the OA. He checked the time. It was almost one in the morning. He processed the messages and the OA. The third party who handled the car called him to say that the car wouldn't be towed away until six in the morning and that he would have to come to him to get the documents. After discussing this, he lay down for over an hour, unable to sleep. The folding bed was probably a makeshift one. It was very thin, and there was something wrong with the frame. It made a creaking sound when he turned over. It annoyed him so much that he simply took a pillow and slept on the sofa. After a short nap, his body clock awoke naturally at five in the morning. He stood up, glanced at the door, and boiled some water in the kettle. He washed, changed, and checked his phone for flights, considering the possibility of rescheduling for a day. He had booked tickets for the same flight as her yesterday morning. There were more direct flights returning, and there were still seats available on tomorrow's flight. A little after six, she opened the door and came out. She had been up long ago, remembering her 11:00 flight. She had originally planned to get to the airport from here, but considering the travel time and the time it would take to return the car at the airport, she had to leave at eight. Now that the car had crashed, she had no idea what his itinerary was. Aside from the slight fatigue on her face, he gave no sign of the darkening she had experienced the previous night. Her long, curly hair was tied back in a fresh, half-up bun. She had concealed the slightly blueish bags under her eyes with makeup last night...
She lowered her eyes and panted, without answering him.
When it comes to relationships, you have to accept that she is a mother first.
Just as I said I was worried Qian Duoduo would have a nightmare, I heard crying from inside the door.
Breaking away from him, she quickly opened the door and came in. The quilt had been kicked off. Under the dim light of the sleep light, he opened his eyes slightly and shook his head from side to side, crying and talking in his sleep, mumbling "Mom" left and right. She knelt on the bed and held his hand, then touched his forehead, which was covered with sticky sweat and a high fever.
He stood beside her bed, supporting her shoulders, then touched her forehead. "He has a high fever. I'll get a towel to wipe him down. You go to bed and I'll take care of him."
She went to search the suitcase and found the fever-reducing patches and Motrin. Before leaving, she casually took two fever-reducing patches and a small amount of Motrin and stuffed them into the suitcase to prevent him from getting sick on the way.
Together they wiped his sweat, woke him up, fed him Motrin, and put a fever patch on him. He drifted off, but soon fell asleep again. She sat by the bed, looking at him, completely drained.
"You need to rest. Go to bed and have a good sleep. I'll watch him." He squatted in front of her, pulled her hands together and gently touched them to his lips.
She pulled her hand back. "He doesn't need any special care right now. He just needs a good sleep. You can go out and sleep."
They could see each other's tiredness.
He smiled and stood up, "Okay, call me anytime if you need anything."
After coming out, he sat alone for a while. He had a bunch of work calls and messages that he hadn't replied to. Someone was urging him to sign and approve the OA. He looked at the time and it was almost one in the morning. He processed the messages and OA. The third party that handled the car called him and said that the car could not be towed away until six in the morning and he had to come to him to get the documents.
After communicating this matter, he lay down for more than an hour and couldn't fall asleep. The folding bed might have been made temporarily, it was very thin, and there were some problems with the bracket. It made a "creaking" sound when he turned over. He felt irritated by it and simply took a pillow to sleep on the sofa.
After falling asleep for a while, his biological clock woke him up naturally at five in the morning. He got up and looked at the door, boiled some water in the kettle, washed up and changed his clothes, checked his flight on his phone, and considered the possibility of rescheduling and delaying it for one day.
He had already booked a ticket for the same flight as her yesterday morning. There were more direct flights returning, and there was still space on tomorrow's flight.
At around six o'clock, she opened the door and came out.
She had gotten up early, remembering her 11 a.m. flight. She had originally planned to go to the airport from here, but considering the travel time and the time it would take to return the car at the airport, she had to leave at 8 a.m. Now that the car had crashed, she had no idea what his itinerary was.
Aside from the faint trace of fatigue on her face, he couldn't tell she'd been through the dark times the previous night. Her long, curly hair was tied back in a refreshing half-updo. The bags under her eyes, which had appeared slightly bluish the previous night, were concealed with makeup. Her large, beautiful eyes had a soft glow, and her lips were painted red. She wore a plain, short-sleeved, white, round-neck T-shirt and olive green overalls. To his eyes, she exuded a simple, vibrant vitality.
"How's Duoduo?" He put the phone in his pocket.
"He hasn't woken up yet, he should be fine, his fever has turned into a low level."
"Did you sleep well?" He approached the tentacle.
She subconsciously dodged.
It was like a dream, being in such a foreign place. When she woke up early in the morning and saw him, the former strong oppression turned into gentle concern. She couldn't get used to such intimacy yet.
"Ping Mei said it's not that easy for her to leave. I've thought about it. Even if we can reach an agreement, the board's approval process for her resignation application will be quite lengthy. There's no ruling that she might be subject to restrictions, which won't solve your problem. I think I'll go back and talk to Boss Yang and convince him to consider other candidates for us. What do you think?"
She suddenly changed the subject to work and mentioned the core purpose of her trip.
She was actually thinking about this at this time. He nodded his head and smiled, "I'm not here for Pingmei's matter. Let's discuss this matter when we get back. There will be a solution."
"My flight is at 11 o'clock, so I'm almost ready to leave. What are your plans?"
All he could think about was that she couldn't forget the contact they had last night, and couldn't pretend not to hear what they had said. He continued to touch her hand and pulled her into his arms, "Can we postpone our return for another day? Let Duoduo rest for a day, okay?"
"No more delay. He probably wants to leave here early and go home."
She hunched over to create a gap between their chests.
Perhaps she herself wanted to leave this place as soon as possible. The strongest memory she had of this place was probably the fear she would never forget, with no other special memories. He thought.
But he is not like that. Some strong memories make him have a different feeling about this place and he will miss it.
He wanted to kiss her, and just as he touched her, the person who came to get the certificate rang his cell phone. Qian Duoduo also woke up and called for his mother.
When Qian Duoduo followed her into the room, he was stunned to see him. He didn't know if he had fainted from the fever or just woke up and thought last night was a dream. He asked her, "Mom, why is Uncle here too?"
She didn't want to recall the pain of last night with him.
He walked up to him, smiled, and touched his head, "Uncle is here to take you and mom home."
He said half of it while looking at her. Her face turned red.
The person who got the license called again to urge him, and he began to make arrangements. "We're leaving at 8:30. There's no rush. You take Duoduo to the restaurant to get something to eat first. I'll go and get the car. Give me your driver's license and ID card. I'll go to the front desk to make copies for them, as well as the vehicle registration they gave you."
"When I ordered the car, I chose the most comprehensive insurance. I'll send you the record."
She woke up in the middle of the night and researched the insurance compensation issue.
They set off for the airport. Except for Qian Duoduo vomiting on the way, everything else went smoothly. The car he drove was prepared by his friend in Lijiang. His friend arranged for someone to pick up the car at the airport entrance.
He used her and Qian Duoduo's ID cards to apply for a temporary upgrade, but there was only one business class seat left, one across from his original one. After a few rounds of negotiation on the plane, they were finally upgraded. He then took Long Weihe's original seat. During the three-hour flight, he made several trips to check on Qian Duoduo.
The child can actually see something.
"Mom, why is uncle holding your hand?"
He held her hand several times as they entered the airport lobby. Qian Duoduo slept on his shoulder. They thought he couldn't see. When he woke up, he saw her looking over his shoulder, but he didn't say anything, even though he felt unwell.
"My mother was not feeling well and had no strength, so he helped me."
"Why would uncle help you? He also saved us."
"Because you and Shi Shi are good friends, he and mom are also good friends."
She explained it logically, so that he could understand.
Lin Yao was waiting in the terminal hall early.
She stood at the flight information display, checking the landing information, and noticed someone. Qian Pingtao was standing in front of her, also looking at the display.
When the four eyes collide, it's a fight.
"Why are you here?" she demanded.
He adjusted his glasses. "Why can't I be here? Is it illegal for me to come pick up my son?"
Qian Duoduo had a video chat with him on the lawn of the manor yesterday. He asked him what time his flight was. He heard Long Weihe talking to Lin Yao on the phone and told him.
"You haven't broken the law? You're now committing harassment. Stop interfering with Long Weihe for no reason."
"How did I harass her? What right do you have to interfere with my legitimate right to spend time with my son?"
"Now is not the time for you to properly supervise your son. Go back quickly. I will pick him up."
Lin Yao thought that Shi Zhenglin was traveling with him, and who knows what trouble he might cause if they met.
He was unwilling to leave and was too lazy to argue with her. He kept a distance from her and waited aside.
She quickly sent a message to Long Weihe, but it was useless. She read the message but couldn't reach out to chase him away.
The man who refused to leave saw from afar his son being held on the shoulders of another man, with Long Weihe following closely behind. His head was buzzing, and the man looked familiar.
He had met Shi Zhenglin on several occasions in the same industry, but Shi Zhenglin naturally did not recognize him.
"Duoduo! Duoduo!" He called the child, declaring his sovereignty as a father.
Qian Duoduo was happy to see him, and even though he was sick, he excitedly called "Dad". He broke free from Shi Zhenglin's arms, ran directly into his arms, and was held by him.
When Lin Yao saw the situation, he felt awkward and confused.
"Duoduo, didn't you see I came to pick you up? We agreed that I would come. It's unbelievable that someone would come to pick you up without even saying hello."
Shi Zhenglin looked at the gentle and well-mannered man in front of him. After hearing what Lin Yao said, he roughly knew what was going on. There was no ripple on his face. He glanced at Long Weihe and stood closer to her.
Qian Pingtao glanced at them and coaxed the person in his arms, "Dad will pick you up and take you home. Can you take me in your car?"
"Yeah. I want Mom to sit too."
Long Weihe was worried about his illness and didn't want him to feel too bad, so she suppressed her emotions. She walked over and hugged him. "Sister, I promised to pick you up. You have to keep your word. Next time Dad takes you out to play, can you take his car again?"
She suppressed the discomfort caused by Qian Pingtao's unauthorized arrival at the airport, turned her head and glanced at him and said, "He's sick and very weak. He needs to go back and rest as soon as possible and try to reduce the stimulation."
When she hugged him, the backpack slipped off her hand and Shi Zhenglin took it.
Lin Yao quickly led them away, "The car is parked over there in the parking lot. Come on, follow me."
Qian Duoduo was also obedient, but he was reluctant to leave Qian Pingtao alone there, so he said to him, "Dad, I will take your car next time. I want to be with Mom."
