"Ouch!"
Yan Kai took a step back, steadied himself, and looked closely. A mixture of surprise and joy instantly appeared on his face. "Miss Qiu, it's you!"
"Yan... Yan Kai." Qiu Mang looked up hastily, her expression somewhat unnatural, and her voice unconsciously lowered.
"You've come to see President Lu, right? President Lu is already awake. Would you like to come in?" Yan Kai asked with a polite smile.
"No need. Since he's alright, I'm relieved." Qiu Mang forced a smile as she spoke, then turned to walk back.
Yan Kai glanced around and noticed the lunchbox that Qiu Mang was clutching tightly in her hand. He quickly stepped forward to stop her. "Miss Qiu, did you come here specifically to deliver lunch to President Lu?"
Qiu Mang seemed to have been exposed; her hand jerked back, and in a panic, she hid the lunchbox behind her back. Her eyes darted around, and she stammered, "No... I..."
But as soon as she said it, she felt something was wrong. At lunchtime, she was standing at the door of Lu Yanting's ward with a lunchbox. No one would believe her if she said she wasn't bringing him food.
She decided to take a deep breath and admit it directly.
“He’s in this state because of me, so I should at least come and see him,” Qiu Mang said.
After saying that, she shrugged slightly and looked into the ward. "However, I see he's already eating, so he probably can't finish this. I'll take it back with me!"
Yan Kai smiled, strode forward, took the lunchbox from her hand, and laughed heartily, "No, since it's Miss Qiu's thoughtfulness, then President Lu should receive it. Perhaps, President Qiu will like Miss Qiu's cooking even more."
Qiu Mang raised an eyebrow. "Yan Kai, I didn't expect you to be such a joker."

After saying that, he held up the lunchbox in his hand, "However, I'm not joking, Mr. Lu, I am indeed waiting for your meal."
Qiu Mang looked at Yan Kai and said, "Now that the food has been delivered, my task is complete. My sister is still at home, so I'll head back now."
After Qiu Mang left, Yan Kai gently pushed open the ward door and went inside.
As Lu Yanting looked up, he saw the lunchbox in Yan Kai's hand. As if he had suddenly thought of something, a faint glint flashed in the man's deep eyes.
He glanced out the window instinctively, but saw nothing.
"Yanting, what's wrong?" Xu Jingyan had been watching Lu Yanting's every move. Seeing that he seemed a little absent-minded, she quickly stepped forward with concern and asked softly.
"It's nothing." Lu Yanting quickly looked away, his expression returning to normal.
Xu Jingyan noticed that Yan Kai was holding a white lunchbox. A gentle smile appeared on her lips as she softly said, "Yan Kai, so you went to buy food earlier? You don't need to go to so much trouble next time. I can handle this kind of thing. I know what Yan Ting likes to eat."
Yan Kai looked embarrassed, scratched his head, and said somewhat awkwardly, "I came back too late. I didn't expect President Lu to already be eating. In that case, then this meal..."
"Yan Kai, you eat it yourself!"
"Give it to me, I can still eat it."
Xu Jingyan and Lu Yanting spoke almost simultaneously. Yan Kai stood there, holding his lunchbox, his embarrassment growing more and more obvious.
Xu Jingyan paused, her gentle smile still on her face, "Since Yan Ting wants to eat it, Yan Kai, then bring it over!"
As soon as the lunchbox lid was opened, Xu Jingyan instinctively turned her head quickly and coughed several times in a row.
"Yan Kai, where did you get this food from? Why did you put so much chili in it? Don't you know Yan Ting can't handle spicy food?" Xu Jingyan said, fanning herself gently with her hand.
Yan Kai looked embarrassed and glanced at Lu Yanting on the hospital bed. He scratched his head with a wry smile and said, "President Lu, I'm really sorry. I completely forgot that you can't eat spicy food."
Xu Jingyan finally stopped coughing, raised her hand to gently cover her nose, frowned slightly, and still couldn't help but advise, "Yanting, the people of Guangcheng have always had a light diet. Your body hasn't recovered yet, so you should try to eat less spicy food."
However, Lu Yanting acted as if he hadn't heard. He slowly sat up from the bed, reached out and took the lunchbox from Yan Kai's hand, and said in a light tone, "It's not like I can't handle any spicy food at all."
After saying that, he picked up his chopsticks and started eating as if no one else was around. In no time, a bowl of stir-fried pork with chili peppers and a bowl of stir-fried eggs with green peppers were finished.
Ten minutes later, Xu Jingyan's phone suddenly rang. She got up and quickly walked out of the ward to answer the call.
As the ward door clicked shut, Lu Yanting's calm and collected demeanor vanished instantly. His features contorted violently as he gasped for breath, his mouth flaring as if fire were about to burst from it.
"Water...give me water quickly..." Lu Yanting managed to squeeze out a few words.
Seeing this, Yan Kai hurriedly grabbed a bottle of mineral water from the table next to him, quickly unscrewed the cap, and handed it to Lu Yanting.
Lu Yanting took the bottle, tilted his head back, and gulped down several large mouthfuls of water. After finishing the bottle, he felt the burning sensation lessen slightly.
"Mr. Lu, why are you doing this to yourself?" Yan Kai couldn't help but ask softly as he looked at Lu Yanting's disheveled appearance.
Lu Yanting raised his eyes slightly and gave Yan Kai a cold look. Yan Kai immediately shut his mouth.
"Did she say anything just now?" After a moment, Lu Yanting looked at Yan Kai again and suddenly asked.
Yan Kai gave a helpless, bitter smile. "Miss Qiu originally wanted to come in and see you, but..."
As he spoke, he glanced at the direction of the ward door, hesitated for a moment, and then continued, "However, she was afraid of disturbing you and Miss Xu, so... she left first."
Lu Yanting nodded somewhat irritably, then sat back down on the bed.
A moment later, he slowly straightened up, picked up the coat that was placed to the side, put it on, and walked straight out of the ward.
At that moment, Xu Jingyan had just finished her call and turned around to see Lu Yanting walking out of the ward.
Her expression tightened, and she quickly caught up with him, "Yanting, where are you going?"
"Discharged." Lu Yanting said in a low voice, uttering just two words.
"But……"
"Didn't the doctor already check me? There's nothing seriously wrong. I'd rather go home and lie down. I feel uncomfortable staying in the hospital." Lu Yanting frowned slightly and unusually offered a few more words of explanation.
Xu Jingyan paused, hesitated for a long time, but ultimately did not stop him.
Not long after Lu Yanting returned home, he heard the beeping sound of the keypad lock unlocking at the door. The next second, Xu Jingyan walked in, carrying several bags in her hands, looking somewhat strained.
