Chapter 141: Still one-sided?

Aletta was falling unconscious. He was taking so much blood from her, and the pain was starting to form. Her twines were strangling him on their own, then she suddenly felt herself moving through the air.

Bracing for the pain that was to come, she tightly closed her eyes only to feel a familiar suffocating warmth catching her into his arms. Unlike before when his aura had been dangerous, it seems he was himself again and she found herself pressing her nose against his chest, trying to inhale his scent. It made her feel more safe and helped calm her mind down.

Neither of them said anything to the other. She could feel his intense gaze on her face like he was studying her. Aletta was too ashamed to look up after running away from him. She wondered if he would just allow her to leave, but that was almost impossible. What bothered her the most was the open tree close to them. But settling into his hold was addicting, and she felt like she never wanted to leave.

After a short while, the weakness had left her body and she could feel her limbs again. Sooner or later she would have to face Zoan. She was only delaying the inevitable.

Pulling away from him, her trembling eyes remained on the ground. She sat down next to him on the forest ground, toes curled as a level of anxiety rose inside of her. It was as if he was waiting for her to break the ice and speak first, and her fists turned into balls on her lap.

"Fairy," She mumbled, biting her lips, "That’s what I am." She paused and peeked to see his face after a while. His eyes held questions but they were calm and waited for more.

"As you witnessed, it triggers and comes out on its own when there’s a sense of danger or heightened senses. I had to leave during the Red Moon because of that, and I have to go now. Fairies live in secret where they can’t be found. We do not want to get involved with your kind of world, and the longer I stay here, the longer I pretend to be your person and get more and more famous, and the more prone I am to getting exposed. I don’t know if you saw my letter, but I’m happy I got to meet you. And I’m sorry I can’t continue with the deal...I tried." She gulped softly, hoping he would understand.

She fidgeted nervously with her fingers, and it took a while before he replied, "Well, whether or not you stay, you’ll somehow be responsible for my downfall," He said and she looked up at him wondering how that would still be possible.

"I do not want to be the cause of that," She said, looking down at her hands. The wings and her earlier transformation had retracted into her body, and she was looking Normal again, "I do not want to have anything to do with you Vampires, though I wish I could have seen Caius one more time," 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

"You think that letter would have solved anything?" He arched a brow in question, and she bit her lip, "But it was because you came to drop the letter that I was able to follow you all the way here," he added.

"You saw me dropping the letter?"

"Just because I can’t feel your presence doesn’t mean I can’t catch your scent. And, you’re not very good at sneaking around. You’ve never been good at that," He added to tell her that all those times she thought she had hidden herself from his sight back at the palace, he still noticed her there.

Aletta gasped, "Well, it doesn’t matter anymore, does it? I’m leaving now. You found me, drank my blood as compensation for everything and I think I’ve paid you enough with it. If you don’t mind it’s getting dark and I’m not a fan of the darkness," She made to stand up but he pulled her back to sit next to him.

The look in his eyes suddenly changed, and he huffed like he was deeply upset, "How easy is it for you to leave someone you claim you love?"

Her mouth fell, and her cheeks went red, "And so what? It’s been one-sided right from the start!" She would have glared at him but her face was too red to make eye contact.

"Really? It’s still one-sided?" He asked.

"Is that a question?" She narrowed her eyes.

"Let’s see how you answer it then," He replied with a shrug, and grabbed her chin to look up at him again. She hardly caught the torment of emotions in those white depths of his right before his face came close and something warm and soft was being pressed against her lips.

Wrong. She couldn’t reciprocate. It was wrong doing this. He was wrong by doing this. What did it mean? Tears ran down her eyes, and she squeezed her eyes shut and tried to push him away. What was the use of the kiss? She was still leaving anyway! She just couldn’t understand him.

He pulled back on his own Accord, "Has it dawned on you yet, or do I have to give you more to take in?" His breath was deep and his voice was a little more husky.

She looked at him in confusion, "I don’t know what you’re trying to achieve, I..."

He cut her off with another kiss, but it was different from the first one. First, he stole her breath away with how expertly his lips and tongue moved against her mouth and had her gasping hotly as she struggled to push him away. Pounding on his chest was futile as he wasn’t even bulging. She tried to hold her need and feeling back, but he had won from the second she set her eyes on him.

The desire was new to her since she’s never had this level of closeness with a man. She took her time in matching the rhythm of the kiss and once she was completely settled in and comfortable... Zoan took it up the notch. Sucking on her tongue had her eyes rolling to the back of her head, and she didn’t hesitate in doing the same to him.

Every time she kissed him back, her heart would soar with his every reaction like he was enjoying himself too.

Every flesh of her body was burning when they both pulled back. His eyes had taken a soft glow, boiling with a look he would give to no one else.

Suddenly, she threw her head away and shook it strongly, "You can’t be serious about this. I...I...d..don... don’t th...think..yo...yo....you know wh...what...what...you’re do... doing!" And there she was stammering so badly she barely completed her sentence.

"I should probably do it one more time to..."

"No no!" She took in a deep breath to compose herself, "You’re a vampire, and I’m a fairy! Do you know the possibilities of what could come to pass if this..." She pointed between them with disbelief, then suddenly clutched her head, "I want to keep believing it’s one-sided! The pain would have been for me alone to bear...you shouldn’t have let yourself...Why?!" She gritted and cursed at herself, "You of all people should know there’s nothing about me to be drawn to. I’m always scared, I sneak around, I’m annoying many times, I don’t listen to you, I’m awkward, I’m...Ah!," Aletta exclaimed in pain, pouting and glaring at him at the same time.

He had just given her a knock on the head. It was almost as hard as the ones he gave her in the past.

"First off, I don’t care about any possibilities. Anything that comes between us, I would break it into pieces. Second, it’s not like it happened while I watched it did..." He shrugged again, this time looking a little nervous like he was trying to find the right words, "You just somehow got to me ok? None of it was intentional! And if you think I don’t find all those attributes about you compelling then you must be out of your mind!" He cupped her cheeks and stared deeply into her eyes.

She was utterly speechless. No, he still didn’t understand. Would he be able to keep the whole world at bay? She didn’t want to be the cause of the outside world finding out fairies do exist. She didn’t want to keep staying here. Why can’t he understand that?

"If you leave now, how often will you visit?"

If his question didn’t leave her mouth hanging then they would both be lying.

"I... don’t know," She shook her head, being as sincere as possible.

"Then I guess I should leave you with something that would make you want to see me at the very least. Let me fill your mind with some sinful memories that you would never forget," He leaned close and whispered into her ear.

At the same time, his hands had traveled to the rope holding the upper part of her dress in place and pulled on it.
