Chapter 157: Childbirth.

Upon her arrival, The doctor rushed over to where Raziah laid on her bed, squirming in pain. Malcolm and Maria were beside her, and Fabia had with her everything she needed for the baby’s birth. Even Acacia had returned and stood not too far from the bed.

Fabia had been immensely surprised when his Majesty had suddenly burst into her room at the forest. Now she knew why.

"Apart from Maria, everyone else out!" She yelled at the whole room, adrenaline pumping through her veins. Together with Acacia, Malcolm left and stood right outside the door while Aragon tried to get closer to her.

"Your Majesty, You need to leave." She demanded, not knowing where the courage was coming from

"I’m staying with her," He retorted and scooted closer to Raziah. As soon as he was in range, Raziah shot out and grabbed his hand, squeezing as she let out series of painful groans.

Fabia shrugged, then quickly got to work. Raziah’s water had Long broke, and she could already see the child’s head peeking out.

The pain was almost too intense to be true. Raziah bellowed out Aragon’s name several times and began to see something like stars around her head. She could see blurry images of the people around her saying something, but her ears weren’t working well at the moment.

From her waist down was a weight, a heavy pain she couldn’t wait to get rid of. It lasted for a while. At some point she stared at the window, another she turned to Aragon who was raining kisses all over her face. Another was Maria who seem to have tears in her eyes. At another point, she wanted to puke so badly. At the very last one, she wished she would faint so that the pain would go away.

When the pain finally went down a bit, everyone was quiet. There was a loud ringing in her ear, and she couldn’t move any part of her. She could see horror in Aragon’s eyes as he stared at the child cradled in Fabia’s arm.

What was happening? She couldn’t tell. She wanted to fall asleep. Maybe when she wakes up, everything would be back to normal.

She watched as Aragon let go of her hand, and Maria replaced him. He and Fabia seemed to he working on something together, and there was so much fear in everyone’s eyes. The second Raziah felt her limbs again, she pushed herself off the bed to see what was happening.

Fabia was applying pressure on a baby’s back, and Aragon was assisting in the little way he could. Raziah blinked and watched... asking herself who owned the baby and why it wasn’t moving.

"My Princess..." Maria touched Raziah softly on the shoulders, but the Princess wasn’t moving too. She simply stared, waiting to wake up for the terrifying dream she was having. Seconds passed, and nothing happened.

"Hand him," She instructed, stretching her hand to Fabia.

The doctor looked between the Princess and Aragon, then handed the baby to Raziah who stared down at the child in her palm. And then, she pulled him into her arms and gave him the softest hug filled with love.

How weird. She didn’t know who owned the baby, but she had already concluded to herself that no one was taking him away from her. Like a sudden bond had tied them together from the first touch, the strongest of bonds, something that could never be broken.

She gently patted him on the back, determined not to lose him. That familiar glow from her eyes and hair began, and her Golden hair grew longer till it touched the bed. There, in her arms, she found peace. It lasted for a while, and the glow went off leaving her long hair.

She kept patting him on the back, rubbing it soothingly till the loud cry of a baby filled the room.

Malcolm had long let himself in, staring in awe. Fabia had her hands clasped over her mouth, trying to hold herself from melting to the floor. Maria was still on the bed, disbelief all over her face while Aragon’s hands were shaking.

They were trembling. He was trembling.

None of them could breathe. It was as though a small movement would have them snapping back to reality, and they wanted this miraculous moment to last a little longer.

It had been a stillbirth, there was hardly a pulse on the baby and it’s fragile body made it even harder. Fabia had tried everything she could to keep that little pulse going, but it had been getting weaker and they were running out of options. She knew if she could get the baby to at least cry, it would cause a reaction and the pulse would grow stronger... but the child wasn’t responding to anything.

She’s witnessed Raziah heal Maria in the past. It was just so spellbinding to see it again. The view of a mother holding the little bundle in her arms tapping his back while he cried was something that brought tears to her eyes.

As usual, child birth has always been beautiful.

"Raziah..." Aragon was the first to move. He climbed up the bed and cupped her cheeks, unable to find the right words.

She simply stared at him.

"You need to rest," He told her.

She nodded again, then took the baby away from her shoulders so they could see him. His eyes were open, and his hair had this new color Aragon didn’t see there before. Dark hair now laced with a few golden strands around it. He could only deduce that some part of his hair had changed to that color during that interaction with his mother that brought him to life.

And the color of the baby’s eyes had Aragon going stiff. Radiant blue eyes greeted them, narrowed slightly while he stared at his father’s blurry face.

He was beautiful and perfect. Unable to help himself, Aragon took the baby’s small hands and the child immediately gripped it...a little harder than a normal baby would.

"Hello, Cleandro. You sure are strong,"

"Cleandro?" Raziah’s weak voice cracked out, "Is that his name?" 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

"What do you think?" He couldn’t even look away from the baby.

"Cleo," She uttered, and Aragon nodded.

"It’s beautiful," She said.

"How are you feeling?" He finally managed to look up at her, tearing his eyes from the baby only to find her studying him.

She wasn’t just looking at him. She stared at everyone present in the room, then the building around her like she was adding everything into knowledge before the unforseen words left her tongue, "Who are you? Where am I?"
