Chapter 169: Bloodthirsty.

Raziah had woken up countless times, but never found the strength to push herself from the bed before another wave of unconsciousness hit her again. It happened so many times that she had lost count. Her limbs felt limb, and moving had never been so hard for her. It was unbearable.

In her unconsciousness, she found herself in that field of nothing but mist, cold, and snow. Alone, she sat down in the middle for what seemed like days. There was never day or night here. The sun never came out. Even if it did, the mist was too thick for its rays to pierce through...or maybe it’s all in her head since it’s just a reoccurring dream.

Everything that happened in the battle never left her mind for a second. She was even more traumatized now. She was freezing from regret and anger, her eyeballs were big and pale. Her skin was becoming almost invisible. All she could do was keep rubbing that wristband. The feeling was horrible. She was lost. Was there anything that could bring her back?

Forcing herself to look up at the sky, she narrowed her eyes slightly. She couldn’t even see the clouds. She’s come to realize this subconsciously was her mind. The snow and cold that filled everywhere expressed her frozen heart, and the mist expressed her loneliness and guilt. Tears gathered in her eyes, and she let them roll down.

She had killed her own mother. Nothing can ever cure this pain. She couldn’t even think of anything else. She was broken in and out, the expressionless cold face she used to hide her anger was gone, and every gleam of emotion rushed past her eyes.

Alone, she cried and cried. Days passed, and she was still crying. The tears coming from her eyes never dried out, and the pain never subsided. She never stopped breaking down, not even once.

The next thing she woke up to the real world, a certain figure was staring back at her. She stared into those dandelion-colored eyes for a few seconds, hers trembling a bit. He wasn’t the one she wanted to see, but then in another way, she was kind of relieved. He was here. On his own. Her wait was finally over.

Gently, he dabbed an item of clean clothing over her eyes wiping away the remains of her tears.

"You’re finally back," Evander said.

Raziah couldn’t find her voice, so she kept quiet. The man too quietly slipped his hands around her back and pulled her up to a sitting position. She wasn’t rebuked one bit by his touch as this wasn’t the first time they were meeting. He supported her with a hand on her back, then picked up a wooden cup from a small old cupboard nearby.

Placing it by her lips, he helped her drown it down in my minute. Her throat felt very itchy and dry. How long has she been unconscious?

Hours passed, and darkness settled in. Raziah had stood up and moved around her new environment. It seemed like both of them were in an abandoned house, in a distant place that was surrounded by trees. It didn’t seem like Evander had been living there for long.

Her wounds had been tended to properly, and most of those grave wounds she had on her were almost healed completely which had her asking herself once again how long she’s been unconscious.

As she dragged her heavy body around, she came across him sitting behind the house, a small fire burning not too far from him. The night was cold, and the wind was beginning to pick up its pace. It looked as if it was gonna rain any time soon.

Raziah moved closer to him without a second thought. His Aura was even more powerful than she remembered it being ten years ago, but he didn’t seem to have aged. He was as young as he was. The only new thing about him was that his red hair was younger.

And just like that night she first met him, he still wasn’t putting on any shoes.

"It is time, Raziah." He didn’t glance back, but his words stole her breath away. She’s been waiting so long to hear this from him. And now that it was finally here...now that her long-awaited wish was about to be grabbed...her heart stung badly instead.

All she could picture was the look on Aragon’s face when he finds out about this. When he knows how rotten and cruel she was.

She simply took a seat close to him and stared at the fire. She still looked pale and weak, her eyes cold to the brim. The whole thing was killing her. She couldn’t bear it. Aragon, his people...and even...her son...Does she still have the heartlessness to do those things to them?

"I don’t know..." The words flew out of her mouth like a silent plea. She was so confused. She thought she would be able to do this when the time came, but with all that had happened, it seemed impossible to keep holding on to that decision.

Evander finally glanced at her, then shook his head. The wind played with his red curls around his face, and dark circles filled his eyes as he took his eyes away from her and stared at the fire, "With everything that has happened to you, and even though I promised you that I would tell you the truth when the time was right, I thought I wouldn’t have to since you already have enough to bare in you." He paused, and it was Raziah’s turn to look at him with a curious gaze.

"What is that?" She asked, already feeling breathless.

"Let me tell you a story, Raziah."

.

She’s been gone for more than four months. He’s counted and counted. He’s searched and searched yet he couldn’t find her. The feeling of being so close to her. The sight of her on her feet, standing tall amidst all the injuries she had suffered, that look of dread in her eyes.

For the short period of time he had left her, she had suffered that much again. And then, he let Evander snatch her away just before he could get to her. It was gut-wrenching. His frustration and anger knew no bounds that way.

Evander had swept her away, and he had searched far and wide for where they could be but nothing. Nothing.

Till a few minutes ago when one of the guards had brought him a letter, a letter from Evander telling him where they should meet. Aragon had stormed out of his palace as fast as he could, and he would be at the spot in mere seconds. He was dying, he was running mad just to hold Raziah in his arms - and at the same time, he was ticking with rage just to squeeze the life out of Evander.

With his extraordinary speed, he had gotten there already and looked around the open field. Evander stood not too far away, and Aragon was right in front of the man the very next second, choking him mercilessly.

"Where is she?"Aragon and his beast asked in unison, his eyes blazing red with fury.

Evander’s eyes seemed to light up a bit like he was intending to smile. It didn’t look like the smile was weakening him in the least, and his fingers calmly pointed south of where they stood.

Aragon whipped his head in that direction, and there was Raziah, there was his woman. His hand fell off Evander’s neck as relief and gladness washed over him. Raziah was ok. Aragon smiled wholeheartedly and took a few steps toward her when Evander said behind him.

"I wouldn’t approach her so carelessly if I were you,"

Hearing Evander’s voice made Aragon want to release hell on him, but he needed to see his woman first. He had almost disregarded Evander’s warning when he finally took another good look at his wife. From where he stood, feets away from her, he could see her trembling on the debris of a building she sat on.

This had him glancing around, finally noticing their environment. The place looked awfully familiar, the ground filled with buildings that had been brought down years ago, burnt villages and other things that made the huge Field seem like it was once standing on its feet.

A kingdom.

Aragon’s fist curled instantly and his face became sour.

He looked at Raziah again. Her head was staring at the ground, and she was putting on an armory from neck to feet with a sword hanging by her sides. There was something very different about her. Her Aura spoke of madness even before she raised her head, and that icy coldness glued him to the spoke.

"It makes so much sense now. The reason you tried to kill me on the night of the blood moon, when you spoke about the woman you murdered and now you were still the lineage she left behind." Raziah looked him straight in the eye, and Aragon was still Frozen right there.

His mind had gone blank.

Her eyes said thousands and one of the things there clearly stated that she was not the woman from four months back. Right now, there wasn’t a shred of love from her. She truly hated him.

Raziah took in a deep breath, getting ready for her next words, "I know I brought trouble that night, but you brought death, Aragon!" She cursed him with her gaze alone, "You laid waste of the Kingdom of Kaneria, and no life was spared that night."

Aragon’s eyes flew open. What the hell was she saying? How does she...What did she mean by he tried to kill her on the night of the blood moon? There was only one woman he was dying to finish off, and that was...

Lord, no.

Raziah’s eyes trembled with boiling hatred, and she reached out to take out something. Instead of a helm to cover her head, she finally took up her wristband. Slowly, she reached over and wore it over her face.

Directly over her eyes, blinding her. Taking her back to that darkness, where she was at her best. At her very best. She had already embraced every side of her, and the darkness always made her more aware.

"That’s right." A crooked smile crossed her lips and she lifted the part of the wristband covering her left eye so she could at least see his expression. What stared back at Aragon was her glowing Golden eyes, and the overflowing urge to rip his head off his neck. She was bloodthirsty...for him.

"I am Mirabai Zephyrus’s Daughter. Raziah Zephyrus of Kaneria, your Majesty. And you...are the only thing standing in my way from laying waste out every bit of supernatural out there." Raziah spoke with a thrilling lifeless tone. In fact, her demeanor had turned monstrous.
