Chapter 173: You’re Right.

"It’s worse than I thought," Elliott said to his brother, Zoan.

"What are we gonna do about father?! I cannot become King, the council called me in last night." Zoan confessed, staring up at the dark night, "It won’t be long before suspicion begins to creep in, and we will become a target. Right now, we are all vulnerable."

"Aragon. What are we gonna do about him?" Elliott inquired, "He’s...no longer himself,"

"That should be our second worry, Elliott. Have you even been listening to what I’ve been saying? It’s not just the Vampires. I’m more worried about the witches learning about the King’s death and striking. If they’re able to take down Erandell, it would be a huge feat for them!" Zoan’s deep voice rumbled out, "And I’ve checked. The old man was an only child. He doesn’t have a brother to ascend the throne. We, his three children are the next and only rightful heirs to the throne of Erandell,"

"If you’re so worried about the witches, Why not just wipe out their leader and also render them useless for the time being until we find a solution?"

Both of them turned around to see Aragon walk toward them, and a sour expression mounted on Zoan’s face to see his brother. The air became even more tense, with Elliott and Zoan immediately on guard as if Aragon would attack them at any moment. That pool of darkness in Aragon’s eyes had them both on their feet.

"What do you mean?" Zoan narrowed his gaze at Aragon.

"I remember mentioning to both of you once that the witches have conspired with a human to build a weapon of destruction targeted at the Vampires. Both of you did not believe me, but now...I’m very sure of it," And Aragon chuckled again, a dry and deep eerie sound that sent a chill down the spine of the other brothers.

"It’s not that hard. We could just simply get rid of the Crown Witch and the woman she’s working together with. Then, we destroy the weapon, and our worries would lessen. The Other Vampire Kingdoms, although are getting suspicious, don’t have a clue about father’s death yet. The witches are the cunning ones. We kill their leader, and we would slow them down for a long while before they crown a new one."

"How do you know about all these in the first place?" Elliott asked, eyeing his brother.

"Should you really be asking me that when you’re the one who introduced me to a little girl in the first place?" Aragon retorted.

"What little girl?"

"The one at Kaneria. I’m pretty sure you’ve visited her several times." Aragon smirked.

"What does she have to do with this, Aragon? Why are you bringing her into this?!"

"Haven’t you always sensed a strange energy coming from her? Hm? It’s obvious she’s not human. If you check even further, you’ll find out that she’s not even a commoner. She fooled you, as young as she is,"

"I know she’s not a commoner, Aragon. I’m not stupid,"

"You should see what her mother is up to, then."

Elliott had to calm his nerves. He knew this wasn’t his brother talking. Aragon is not that kind of person. Elliott recalled when the three of them were young, playing around the palace. They didn’t know about the cruel world that waited for them, and Aragon was the first one to be attacked by it.

Being human, he couldn’t keep up with his two brothers and usually got more injured than the three of them. As time went by, he learned to stay away and be by himself.

Also, Elliott began to feel out of place in the kingdom. He now understood why most people glared at him and why he wasn’t as strong or fast or drank blood as the rest of them.

Zoan, the last brother whom everyone had such high hopes for was too laid-back and didn’t care enough to want to take over the kingdom. He didn’t care about his princely duties and was always resting outside there on a branch of the bizarre tree that had somehow grown on the roof of the castle.

Elliott, unable to take it anymore, started to travel around the world. He met Raziah during one of the Journeys while he was passing through the kingdom of Kaneria and had been bespelled by the little girl. He had also noticed how odd Raziah’s Aura was from the rest of the kingdom’s inhabitants but had also grown a certain liking for her.

"Are you trying to tell me that Queen Mirabai is the person conspiring together with Harlow?" It sounded so stupid to Elliott, yet he was curious.

It’s not like Aragon would come out here to the both of them and run his mouth with lies.

"You can go check it out yourself if you don’t believe me. The earlier we stop them, the better!"

Elliot’s eyes shifted to Aragon’s fisted hand which was now dripping blood. He could see how insanely hungry Aragon was to have someone’s blood in his hands. The man was dying to tear someone into shreds, moving closer and closer to the brink of insanity.

"You need help, brother." Elliott took a step toward Aragon and touched his shoulder, "You’re not who you used to be. And I’m here to help."

Aragon lifted his eyes to look into Elliott’s, and there was this boiling look of recoil that filled Aragon’s eyes just to even see that someone was touching any part of him. At that moment he wasn’t thinking anymore and had already made his move by raising a hand at Elliott. Aragon has been dying to massacre something, maybe he would start with his brother.

But, Zoan caught Aragon’s hand just in time. Zoan and Aragon glared hell into each other’s eyes, with Zoan’s eyes looking like it was about to pop out of their sockets, "Elliott was only trying to help you. What has come over you?!"

He still wasn’t thinking straight. With Zoan still holding Aragon’s arm, Aragon threw in more strength trying to overpower his brother, "What? I never once complained when you hurt me with your powers as kids. Why can’t you just sit there and take it now? Don’t worry, I won’t kill you...I promise,"

Hearing Aragon say that again made Elliott cringe, feeling so much cold running through his veins it made him shiver.

"Fine. I’ll check it out," Elliott interrupted the both of them and forcefully tried to disengage their hands but Aragon was not letting go, "I said I would check it out. If I find out you’re telling the truth, we would commence!!" Elliott grumbled again,

By then, Aragon had almost overpowered his brother completely before abruptly letting go and walking away.

"Zoan, Are you okay?" Elliott accessed his brother’s hand to see that Zoan’s arm had become inflamed and his bone had already begun to crack due to the harsh and unyielding grip Aragon had forced on it. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

"You’re right, Elly," Zoan sighed, "He’s much more worse than I thought,"
