Chapter 174: Hard on them.

For as long as Raziah could remember, her mother has always had three more people next to her apart from her father. One, was Jennet Lazarus, mother’s doctor, and the second person was Sir Galland, Malcolm’s father who was leading the warriors of Kaneria and the greatest warrior Raziah has ever seen. The third person didn’t show up too often and so, Raziah knew almost nothing about her.

Although, that last person was the most mysterious among the four of them.

Sir Galland wasn’t just the supreme warrior, he was also found always standing next to Mirabai just as Jennet was. It seems the three of them were unbreakable or something.

Walking quietly behind her mother, Raziah stared up at the woman. Her mother has always been the odd one out. Everyone else had either blonde, red, brown, or black hair but her mother’s hair resembled strands of pure gold, and Mirabai’s eyes were like a large pool of silver. She was the most beautiful woman in the kingdom.

As they walked, Mirabai turned around to look at her daughter staring up at her. Mirabai could feel Raziah’s gaze on her back, hence making her turn around. It was hard for her, but Mirabai forced her mind to put away all thoughts that would make her scowl at her daughter again...and smiled this time.

Seconds passed, and it was an awkward sight for Raziah. It was the first time her mother was actually smiling at her. Something had changed since the night her mother had hugged her, looking so frightened and lost. Raziah has always thought her mother was the strongest, and heartless.

Guess even the strongest can be broken.

Awkwardly, Raziah forced her lips to stretch and part, returning the smile.

Although her mother was still as hard as ever, she was becoming seemingly softer these days with the occasional little smiles. It was the weirdest thing that had ever happened to Raziah. That didn’t stop her from leaving the palace and still doing as she pleased though.

Once her mother was gone, Raziah wandered around the palace with Savannah and Maria walking closely behind her, "Let’s leave the palace Tonight. The Vikers are gonna be traveling through Kaneria Tonight and will probably stop for a drink or two. Something huge would probably go down tonight," Raziah sounded extra excited tonight and wouldn’t stop jumping about her feet.

"If you do not stop dragging us into all this, I will report this to your mother," Savannah did not even hesitate to state her mind clearly, making Raziah stop in her tracks.

Raziah turned around smoothly and crossed her arms over her chest defiantly, "Look, Savannah, it’s not just about the Vikers, I have to feed the less privileged along the way. Today, I’m planning a feast for them. Seeing the Vikers would just be...extra,"

This was the biggest reason Raziah always managed to convince them to sneak out of the palace. Even though she was rowdy and loud and sometimes bossy, Raziah had the softest heart and always had them steal food to feed the homeless and those wandering aimlessly around town. From there, she would then drag them to her gambling games.

"What do you say, Maria?"

Maria shifted uncomfortably on her feet, "I don’t know...," Her small voice was filled with anxiety.

"I and Malcolm alone would go and distribute the food to them. You stay back at the palace Tonight, M`lady," Savannah cut in.

Raziah’s Jaw dropped, "What? No...!"

"There’s no need for you to go anywhere. And if you insist, I will walk up to the Queen’s chambers and report this to her,"

Raziah was so disappointed. Her face fell, and she wanted to say something but Savannah gave her one of those motherly strict looks that had Raziah’s face falling even more before she gave up and turned around so they continue walking. Savannah was the oldest among the group being sixteen years old, while Maria was the youngest being only ten.

As they continued along the vicinity of the palace, they came across the backdoor where a huge opening lay. They could hear the sounds of swords clashing, and the three children checked and saw Sir Galland and his son, Malcolm training. Galland was attacking Malcolm with his sword, hands feet, and anything else he could use to attack as if Malcolm was truly the enemy.

Malcolm had no other choice but to be on his full guard...dodging, parring, and jumping out of the way if need be.

His father was so tough on him when it came to training.

"He’s only Fifteen," Maria whispered.

"I’m guessing they need him to become a warrior as fast as possible. Kind of how Sir Galland is always watching after the Queen. Maybe they want the same between M`lady and Sir Malcolm," Savannah was explaining to Maria.

"I wanna learn how to fight, too," Raziah whispered to herself and took a step forward to get a better look at the fight, "Sir Malcolm is already so good."

Another reason why Raziah disobeyed and left the palace often with them. She was confident Sir Malcolm would protect them.

"Imagine how much sweat and blood it took for him to get this good," Savannah replied behind her.

Just then, Sir Galland found his opening and cut Malcolm on the hand with his sword, right before delivering a kick to the boy’s belly which sent him flying back a bit and crashing hard on the floor.

"Just because I injured you doesn’t mean you should let down your guard! Your guard should always be up, no matter what!" Galland yelled at his son, while Malcolm moaned in pain on the floor with his sword a few feet away from him.

"I’ve always thought Sir Galland has a bit of superhuman strength. Look at how he sent Malcolm flying!" Maria was watching with a bit of excitement while clutching Savannah’s shirt. Raziah has always wondered why Maria was always covered in fear.

It’s always been like this ever since the Queen introduced Savannah and Maria to her as her maids. She had essentially grown up together with the both of them, and every time Maria seemed to always be leaning unto Savannah.

Raziah had somewhat envied their relationship. They seemed so close.

"Get up and fight! You cannot protect anyone or anything if you keep staying on the ground!"

The three girls jumped in fear, only to see that it was just Sir Galland urging Malcolm to continue with the training. Malcolm was glaring at his father, while Galland retained this rock-hard look in his eyes as he watched his son force himself back to his feet.

And then, Raziah felt bad for Malcolm. Why were their parents so hard on them?

"Sir Elliott...?" A strange, yet familiar chill suddenly Ran up Raziah’s spine and a full-blown smile touched her lips as she turned around to look at her friends, "Don’t follow me. I’ll be back in a moment,"

And then, she sprinted back into the palace in search of the presence she had left.

Soon enough, she found him.

"Sir Elliott..? What are you doing here?" Raziah asked as she walked into her parent’s chambers to find Elliott staring deeply at the strange object she had seen the other day covered inside here.
