Raziah was so happy to see him again after so many months. She had missed him, and couldn’t help but run over with a huge smile on her face and hugged him with her head resting on his abdomen.
Elliott had been so lost in thought that he hadn’t felt her presence at all until she had hugged in, pulling him back to the present.
Seeing her again brightened his day, and he gently stroked her hair with his fingers.
"When did you return?" Raziah looked up at him, "How did you know I live here? Are you here to see my parents?" Her eyes were twinkling like the stars.
Elliott could only nod, "I have to leave now, Raziah," He said to her, and the smile on her face vanished.
"What? But...why? Stay! Don’t leave yet, please,"
Elliott was so disoriented that he couldn’t think straight. His legs had grown very weak, and his heart was pounding very loudly. He had come here to confirm it himself, and couldn’t believe his eyes.
Aragon...had been right. The Strange object sitting here was very powerful, and he could feel the energy it was emitting. Something that felt like it was directed particularly at a certain kind of unknown force, not even the Vampires themselves. He couldn’t put it into words, but one thing was clear...
Whatever this is, they cannot let it continue to exist.
Elliott had tried to touch it. He had cast a spell to destroy it, but nothing was working. It had a very strong protective spell coating every part of it, and if he kept trying to destroy it his spells might start bouncing back on him.
Why does the Queen have something like this?
An Object...of destruction?!
When Elliott didn’t reply, Tears gathered in Raziah’s eyes, "You said you were gonna marry me. You promised me! I’ve been waiting for you, how can you just say you’re gonna leave?"
Elliott wasn’t even listening.
"What is wrong? What did I do? Why do you have to leave?" She gripped his waist even harder and looked up at him again as a tear rolled down her eyes.
"I’m scared...this is so much..." Elliott whispered out loud to himself, his emotions and eyes mixed with so many feelings.
His words had Raziah Pausing, and the look in her eyes reminded Raziah of the night her mother had broken down and hugged her. She had uttered the very same words as Elliott right now. And why did they all look so scared? What is it that is going on?
It was actually shocking to hear someone like Elliott admit he was scared. He always appeared strong and had this mind-blowing air that surrounded everything he did. In fact, he seemed like a prince to Raziah, and a great warrior at the same time.
And warriors...are strong, and great, right? Do they ever feel scared?
"What is too much? Did you meet my mother?" Her little voice asked.
As soon as she uttered that, an idea lit up in Elliott’s head. It was that easy. He would simply meet up with Harlow, the Crown Witch, and have her explain to him what the hell she and Mirabai were up to.
Maybe, it’s not as bad as it seems. He dearly hoped so.
Catching his breath, Elliott squatted down so he was eye-to-eye with the little girl. He seemed more like himself now with a warm smile in his eyes and gently wiped away her tears with his finger, "Did I scare you?" His deep tone utterly lowly
Raziah nodded fervently.
"Forgive me, my dear."
Raziah wrapped her little arms around his next, "You came to see my parents, didn’t you?"
"Not exactly," He replied, still stroking her hair, "But you don’t have to worry about it. Once you’re old enough...," He pulled back to look into the little girl’s eyes, then pressed a small kiss onto her forehead.
Happiness spread around Raziah’s chest, and she squealed like a little child while Elliott watched and adored her smile.
Anyone would think it’s silly. Silly for him to have developed strong feelings for a little girl. But, she wasn’t any little girl. She was Raziah Zephyrus, his young, Charming, brave, and sneaky little fox whom had beaten him in a gambling game the first time he had met her, although he hadn’t used his powers.
Raziah was way too smart for her age.
Just then, Elliott heard the sound of rushed footsteps approaching the room fast. It was still far away, but the person was definitely heading over here and it sounded like there were two of them.
"I have to go now. No one should know I was here," The warmness in his eyes didn’t leave, but became a little more strict.
As the footsteps grew closer, Raziah also heard them and turned to look at the door when suddenly, Elliott disappeared. Her gaze whipped back to where he had been leaning next to her just a second ago, and she stood there Frozen, wondering what had just happened. Of course, she had no idea witches existed.
Or even... anything else apart from humans.
Just then, Mirabai and Galland burst into the room.
"Raziah!" Mirabai exclaimed and picked up her daughter into her arms while Galland took a good look at the room. Mirabai and Galland could still feel the lingering presence of a witch.
"Who was here with you?" Mirabai asked worriedly and began looking all over her daughter’s body, "Were you hurt?!"
Raziah held onto her mother tightly, never saying a word to her.
Raziah remained silent for the rest of the day. She was never the quiet type. Everyone spoke to her, trying to get her to say something but she was too petrified to say anything.
Mirabai was very worried about her daughter. What had gone down between Raziah and the person that she had been with? If there was one thing Mirabai knew, it was that whoever it was, was a witch judging from the type of aura she had caught in the air after he left.
That same night, Mirabai took her daughter somewhere underground inside the kingdom, "Let me show you something, child,"
Raziah followed without saying a word. Her mother held up a lantern as they descended into the darkness. They walked for a short while, with Raziah looking all around her. She never knew somewhere like this existed under the palace.
They got to a certain point, and then Mirabai looked down at her and smiled softly. Just then, there was a whiff of breeze in front of them and torches that had been hung all over the wall at certain distances started to light up on their own.
An assuring squeeze on the hand and a smile from her told her that this wasn’t a cause for alarm, and Raziah watched in awe as the whole space around them became fully bright.
And right there, they stood in the middle of a room.
"Mother, what is this place?"
