The three Children stood inside the Magical box with the item set on auto. The box had the ability to detect the enemy, and would immediately come to a halt. Apart from that, the Crown witch made sure the box could not be sensed by others, or whatever it was carrying inside of it.
And because of how small it was on the outside, it was very easy for it to roll past the lurking Vampires. The only thing Malcolm did was give the box directions by using his voice which had already been added to the item’s settings a long time ago.
Everyone remained quiet, trying not to make a sound. It’s not like they could be heard by the Vampires, but they could hear everything going on outside. Raziah’s head was beginning to spin. She’s never heard so many screams of torment of death, she’s never felt so weak and scared in her life before. Every fiber of her being could feel and smell so much death in the air tonight.
They were almost outside the castle, and the only sound they’d been hearing was the hissing sound. What had happened to all their warriors? They couldn’t have been killed already, right?
The image of her father being brutally clamped down and torn apart by the red-eyed human was making her stomach churn with fear and disgust. In fact, all these things happening around her were gonna make her puke soon.
She had so many questions, but nothing was said.
Everyone was shaking. Everyone was trying to recover.
A small hand on Raziah’s back had her jumping, goosebumps wracking her skin. She was ready to break into a run when she heard Savannah’s voice, "Are you okay?"
Raziah looked at her friend, eyes downcast and tired. Instead of replying, Raziah flung herself into Savannah’s arm instead. Hours ago, they had all been safe. Her mother was down there showing her all the secret inventions, and cool stuff they had going on down there while the woman with silver hair and cerulean eyes sat in a corner, watching her.
"What are those people?!" Raziah cried against Savannah’s shoulders, "Why are they so aggressive and strong? Why do they look so scary? Why are they attacking us?"
Savannah almost broke into a cry too. But, she had to summon the courage to remain silent and gently stroke the princess’s hair. Right now, all Savannah was worried about was that they make it out of there alive.
They had to. The Princess has to live. Kaneria has to continue... somehow. This cannot be the end of this beautiful kingdom.
"I’m scared, Savannah. Why aren’t I waking up from this nightmare?"
"You’ll soon wake up, Princess. Just hang on a little longer." Savannah assured, and her eyes moved to where Malcolm stood while giving directions.
They were almost out of the castle. Once they’re out, they’ll follow the frail path into the forest and escape through there.
Almost.
All of a sudden, the rolling box came to a halt. They had stopped moving.
"Sir Malcolm, what’s wrong?" Savannah inquired.
There was sweat rolling down Malcolm’s face, making everyone else swallow.
"It’s...the box. It’s beginning to lose its effect," He spoke up.
"What? How?"
"I don’t know, but the Vampires would start to sniff us out anytime soon. We aren’t even moving as fast as before. Plus, we are surrounded by them,"
Malcolm was thinking hard. He remembered many months about when the Queen had shown him her workshop, revealing to him the existence of Vampires and witches. She had explained to him how every item in the workshop worked, and what could cause them not to work.
As for the Magical box, it has the magical powers of the Crown witch and he strictly remembered the Queen explaining to him that the only possible way the box would start to act up and stop walking...was if the Crown witch was dying.
Harlow...was dying.
"I don’t think we would be able to get past the hoard in front of us," Malcolm told them without hesitation, thinking hard about what to do.
What could have happened to the Crown witch that was killing her? She was the most powerful witch there is!
It was very alarming.
"What do you mean?" Raziah bit her lip.
"It means the box is gonna start getting big again, and you know the rest. The only thing that would probably help...is if we had a distraction, and fast."
"What Kind of distraction?"
"Something the enemies wouldn’t hesitate to go after we that they can leave the way and we can roll through and get the hell out of here before our time runs out!" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Savannah had been quiet the whole time, eyes tightly shut.
Sacrifices. Sacrifices have been made to see them get to this point. A lot of people had put their lives on the line, and there were hardly any survivors left. Savannah thought to herself that the three of them were probably the only ones alive.
"I’ll go and cause the distraction. You know what to do," Savannah proclaimed, and everyone looked at her with wide eyes.
What was she saying?
Raziah shook her head terribly, "I’ll be the one to go. You stay here with Sir Malcolm,"
"Snap out of it! I have to be the one to go!" Savannah whispered sternly at her, grabbing Raziah’s shoulders to shake her out of the fear that wanted to eat her up completely.
Raziah couldn’t control the tears pouring down from her eyes. She couldn’t imagine what would happen to her if Savannah also left in this crisis. The noises coming from outside were tearing her soul apart, and the stench of fresh blood in the air was clogging up their noses. It was a massacre, and the only safe place was the box.
"No...No," she shook her head fervently, her dark hair shattered all over her face as she sniffed hard, "Not you... Not any of you...!" She mumbled, "Please...!"
"Well someone has to cause a distraction. If we keep on staying here, it won’t be long before we three are slaughtered too. Why can’t you understand?!" Savannah shook her harder this time, but could only see that Raziah wasn’t gonna let her go.
"Hold her back, and tie her up if you have to," Savannah said to Malcolm, who also stared worriedly... And bit his lips in the end.
Raziah grabbed onto Savannah’s arm, begging with her eyes as hard as she could. Tears had already clogged up her vision, and it was getting extremely hard to breathe. She’s also lost so much in one night, and she wasn’t even sure about anything anymore. Her whole thoughts had been jumbled up with fear, and there was a loud ringing in her ears that hurt so bad.
"Make sure you take care of her!" Savannah said to Malcolm as if she was giving him her final order even though she was in no position to. They made short eye contact with each other and it was just enough for the both of them.
"Please... Please... Please..." Raziah stared into Savannah’s Grey eyes, sobbing as quietly as she could as Malcolm and Savannah pulled away Raziah from her, and got Savannah’s hands free.
"Please don’t do this!" Raziah made to touch her again, but Savannah had already scooted far away from her, "I can’t lose you too! I can’t lose everything. Malcolm please stop her, please I’ll do anything... Just stop her!" She cried profusely, the watery tears rolling down her face. Tearing herself away from Malcolm’s grip wasn’t working, and she watched in horror as Savannah gave them both one last look... And climbed out of the box.
