Chapter 187: Straight for her

Raziah had had enough.

She could no longer just sit there and do nothing while her mother was about to die. Her mother was the best woman she’s ever met, and it was already enough regret that she was just realizing it during these few days they had begun to bond.

These few days had been a brainstorm for Raziah, seeing her mother go through a rollercoaster of emotions. There was so much suffering and pain that Raziah wished she could cure from her mother’s life, and she wanted to spend more time with her.

Twelve years had been spent badly, they wasted away twelve years... but they still had the rest of their lives.

And Raziah would not just sit there and let those years that could be filled with love and togetherness fade away because she had been a scaredy cat. She would not let this disaster continue.

If there was anything she could do...

Raziah bit down hard on Malcolm’s finger, forcing him to pull his hand away from her mouth. She used that opportunity to throw herself out of his hold and snatch up the small knife he had with him all along.

"Raziah, what are you doing?!" He exclaimed and watched in horror as she ran off to leave the box.

As if the horror wasn’t enough, the magic in the box completely faded away and the box itself disappeared. Malcolm found himself sitting on the bare ground, surrounded by chaos with his mind shaking with fear, while Raziah went running toward her mother with a loud scream.

"Get your hands off my mother!" She released all her aggression, gripping the knife harder.

Aragon looked up at the little girl coming toward him. He couldn’t see her face clearly because of the smoke, but he felt like he’d seen her before somewhere, "Ah, the Princess...," He said to himself with a little curve of his lips, "And the torture continues. This one died too soon,"

Raziah did not stop. Even though every step led her closer to what could only be described as death, she never stopped running. She never faltered, and she never felt like giving up.

And then, she hauled the knife at her target with a ragged breath.

And that was when it dawned on Aragon that she had successfully distracted him, and made him think she was coming straight at her because her knife had been thrown in another direction entirely...and it headed straight for the object.

The Fragile, but powerful weapon.

Aragon tried to go for the knife, but he was far too late to catch him because he had remained rooted to his spot for another second from the minute she had thrown it, his eyes widening from the stealth apprehension of what was about to happen

As soon as the knife hit the glowing ball, the whole thing shattered like glass and the energy swirling inside of it poured out and suddenly, blasted forth toward a particular direction.

A place no one had seen coming.

The reflection was in her eyes. It came so fast that she didn’t know what was happening until the energy hit her. It didn’t just hit her, every bit of it was being absorbed by her body, spreading into her veins and trying to gain oneness with her body. Her body stiffened and she gasped hard from the impact right on her chest.

Her skin grew pale, and for a moment there as it crashed into her, she was glowing.

Raziah felt like she was floating. Floating on air that was extremely cold. The cold slipped into her bones, accumulating with an incredible speed that she felt it threatening to burst through her.

And it was going to burst.

And Raziah knew exactly where to fire it to.

Someone was shouting her name, but Raziah’s eyes were fixed on the man. Every strand of her hair was floating and glowing just like her, and her eyes were now so cold and vengeful.

She knew her mother wasn’t moving anymore...and that was more than enough trigger for her.

Energy shot out of her, reacting to her rage and rampage of emotions. It flew, moving at the speed of light and straight to its target.

And there was no way Aragon could move out of the way. There was no way any creature could dodge something coming at a speed that cannot even be seen, and so fast it can hardly be sensed.

It was the end for him.

Or...was it?

And then, someone came out of nowhere and knocked into him.

Aragon was flung out of the way just as the disastrous power slammed into the other person, and in a single breath...the person turned into a statue of ice.

Aragon turned around just in time to see who it was, and for the first time in a very long time, his body quivered with fear and his dark heart trembled with so much heaviness.

He felt like he had just lost everything, and pain stabbed him over and over again straight to the heart.

"Elliott...," He murmured, just as the statue of Elliott’s form with his arms outstretched pushing Aragon out of the way fell to the ground...and broke into pieces.

Aragon was frozen, and dumbfounded with a loud ringing in his head.

"Raziah!!" Malcolm came running from behind her.

She was loopy on her feet, and her head was swaying. Her glowing body had returned to normal, and the adrenaline that had filled her up earlier had gone low.

He caught her before she could fall, "Malcolm?!" She groaned.

"We are getting out of here. Let’s go," Malcolm said and put her arm around his shoulder, both of them running away. Malcolm didn’t know what had happened, or why no one was attacking anymore, but he was going to take full advantage of the situation and get them out of here.

Even the Vampires were nowhere to be found.

"My head hurts, Malcolm," She moaned.

"You’ll be fine, Raziah. You’ll be fine," He whispered in reply as they fled into the forest.
