As soon as Aletta saw him coming her way, she turned around and attempted scrambling back to the room. For a few days now she hadn’t ran into him again and had stayed indoors most of the time. The only reason Caius hadn’t dragged her out was that his aunt had promised him that she would allow him to attend the event coming up in a few days, and he had been obedient and stayed inside as he was in so much anticipation.
Aletta knew she couldn’t go there. She’s always been putting on a cap, or cloak anytime she leaves the room, and she didn’t want to draw any attention to herself. Fabia had also given her the warning to stay indoors because the nature of her skin alone was enough to draw attention to herself, and one sneaky vampire or witch might want to trick her into leaving with him and since she’s such a naive person, she might fall for it.
Did she listen to Fabia? No.
There she was, standing right outside and peeking through the slightly open double doors of the hall. She had just escorted Caius back to the room where he had turned the plates of food he brought with him, and now the little man was back safely to the party and Fabia was making sure that he was always in her line of vision. Though she didn’t walk in, she was staring at Zoan dancing with the Princess.
When he sent those venomous glares her way, Aletta squealed and quickly pressed herself against the door in shock. Did he...see her? She gently checked again to see that he was now talking with the Princess again, but he kept glancing her way occasionally. Aletta let her gaze wander around the room, and her lips formed an ’ o ’ when she saw the luxury and how beautiful it was looking. She couldn’t even see herself mixing in with people like them. It’s like everyone in there was in a league of their own.
Now The King and his bride were dancing even though their eyes were waging war on each other, and she had lost sight of Zoan.
Time to scram.
She had just taken her first step away from the doors when she ran into that familiar chest of his. His Masculine scent clogged up her lungs, making her gasp in horror as she looked into his eyes. She had been standing here the whole time, so when did he walk out that she didn’t see him? Was there a back door inside the hall or something?
Tonight he was dressed like a prince, and it was messing with her brain that he looked even more good-looking than before. How do his looks work? Does he gets even more handsome every day because it seems so.
"Dare slap yourself today, and I’ll knock you so hard you’ll forget you’re in love with me." Were the list of words that escaped his tongue, forming a sentence that had her legs getting weak. She couldn’t say a word, and when she tried to get past him, he blocked her path. It’s funny how she was the one following him around just a week ago, and suddenly the tables have turned on them.
"What do you want from me?" She wanted to boldly look up into his eyes, but her fragile bones could only make it to his beautiful neck. She wished his eyes would turn away from her so she could get a good and long stare at his face again.
"I want to court you." He replied sharply
Aletta’s eyes stretched, and her legs were already backing away from him till she hit the doors. What did he just say? No, maybe she didn’t hear him well.
"You don’t have to be scared. I don’t plan on actually doing anything serious." Zoan stated strongly before he reached out and took her hands into this. There was no use struggling against his hold at all because if a kid can pull her around, what can she do against a Man amongst men?
He took her away from the noise of the event, and when she saw him leading her into a chamber that probably belonged to him, her heart began to race. Huh? Why would he take her into his room?
"You can talk to me outside."
"Let’s strike a deal." He suddenly slammed the door shut, making her jump. His palm retained its hold on the closed door, pining her small frame between himself and the walls in the process. His level of closeness between them was one she never even dared to imagine, and now her defenses were crumbling away into dust, "Are you listening?"
She could only nod.
"Look into my eyes, Coal."
And how does he expects her to do that when his eyes are so hypnotizing? She doesn’t even have the strength to walk again, and she was sure he could hear the loud thud of her heart threatening to burst out of its cage.
She needed air, and she needed it fast before her legs would give up.
"Control yourself," His fingers lightly pushed her chin up so she was staring into his eyes, "And Look at me when I’m talking to you."
Aletta’s eyes were closed this time. No, if she can’t slap herself then she would rather not see him. And that was when Zoan regarded her unique set of lashes for the first time, which had three layers of different colors of hair. He looked closer to see the first part that was newly growing from the nook of her eye skin which was red in color, and this red was growing into a variety of different colors that formed a rainbow-like second layer, then the colors also grew into a beautiful coal black curve of her lashes that fits her eyes. It was the first time he was seeing such an arrangement in the eyes of a human...
The sudden silence had gone on for long enough, making Aletta peek softly with one eye to see what he was doing.
He was... smirking at her, and his pupils were glowing with streaks of pearl shimmers around them.
"I see..." He drawled so smoothly that she panicked. What had suddenly gotten into him? 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"Pardon?" She squeaked out.
"You... aren’t human, are you?"
