Chapter 63: Proud Retorts.

’ You’re all beautiful, Let’s keep it that way, hm? ’

Wouldn’t she have just loved to say that, instead she held back her tongue that was about to spit a load of venom and nodded back, "I can’t be a weak wife. A strong man deserves an equally strong woman,"

What she wasn’t expecting was for them to look so touched by her words. Like, is there anyone out there that doesn’t knows this before?

"That’s so deep. You must be strong since you came out of the war alive," Ember’s eyes took a glimpse of Raziah’s wrapped fingers before returning her eyes to her face, "How were you able to keep up with Vampires? Everyone here thinks you’re a special one,"

"Yeah," Another Princess that had mustered the bravery to join the conversation piqued interestingly, "Never in my life have I imagined that a human could take down a Vampire except if a witch got involved. This is definitely a first for all of us,"

Raziah’s gaze moved to the throne again where Gwenore had placed her palm into the king’s outstretched ones and was now leading her to dance. Ember followed the Princesses eyes and saw it too, and a flicker passed through her Green eyes.

"You don’t look so good, your highness." Ember then nodded as if she understood what was going on, "Ah, of course, it’s normal to get jealous when you see your husband with another woman regardless of who she is. I mean, Gwenore would have easily declined or walked away from the marriage. No one was forcing her. She’s always looked so desperate to get married to..."

And the cold turned icier. Ember’s voice died off, and she turned into a frozen statue.

"If you can’t understand two things, then you’re the one who is desperately seeking attention here. One: I don’t care if he decides to marry a thousand other women. Two: Say something out of line again, and I promise you my husband isn’t the only person who is gonna be getting a piece of me tonight!" She deadpanned icily, giving no room for comebacks or retorts as each and every one of them had held their tongue and were staring at the floor.

They were all terrified of the dangerous edge her voice had taken, and it was so ridiculous because she was the only human seated here, so why the hell were they all so submissive right now?

Ember was first to pull up her gaze back to the Princess, "Pardon me, but I would love to see how you were able to take down those Vampires. I mean no matter how I view it, you’re the weak one. A human can never be on par with a Vampire, ever!"

Her cold eyes danced, "Vampires might have qualities that makes them more powerful than humans, but don’t you forget that those same humans they underestimate the most are much more mysterious than any other thing in this world. Humans aren’t anything special, we don’t move like the wind, we don’t drink blood to survive, we don’t have heightened senses, and we don’t cast spells...In this world where Vampires and witches live in the shadows, we bare ourselves open and live our daily lives. Those simple things we do, and the fact that you all see us as ordinary...is what makes us more special than anything else in this world. We don’t need Vampires or Witches to survive, but guess what?...

"That doesn’t mean..."

"Don’t try to intimidate." Raziah cut her off sharply, crossing her legs but still having that bored look in her eyes, "Do you still want to see how I took down those Vampires? I’ll do you a favor and make it as fair as I can. You can hold up a sword, and I’ll be barehanded. I’ll go easy on you,"

Holy hell... Ember’s eyes blazed blood red right there making the other Princesses scoot away from her, but her close friends decided to Carry on her rage.

"Don’t get a big head just because of some rumor spreading around you and just because the king married you," Princess Heather glowered, looking pissed off.

"And he didn’t marry you. What a shame," Raziah tsked, her eyes dripping pity at the Princess.

"Hey!" Another quipped, raising her voice a little, "We invited you here because..."

"I had a more endurable time with the Princes. We all wanted to see how long we could tolerate each other, and those eyes are saying you’ve already had enough. Do all Vampires have no resilience to human retorts? Imagine everyone here hearing that a ’mere’ human was able to piss up multiple Inhuman Princesses. How would that look on you all?!"

They were fuming. She could feel it from the vibration of the chair. Though there was a princess that sat at the other end and hadn’t said a word too. She wasn’t angry about anything Raziah had said.

In fact, she was trying to hide the smile from escaping.

"Now this should be what a real conversation should look like. Be honest with yourselves, and keep your anger in check. Don’t be all smiles at me when you’re dying to rip out my throat inside. Let’s all be wise and mature, I shouldn’t be teaching you all this!"

With that, Raziah leaned back comfortably and closed her eyes. The conversation would have kept on going smoothly if ember hadn’t decided to bad mouth Gwenore before everything went south.

"I actually thought I could be friends with you, with a human, but you’ve proven otherwise." Ember had taken in deep breaths to calm her nerves, and her glowing eyes had returned to their normal color. Raziah Didn’t even bother to open her eyes or hold back on her words. Once they start pouring, she would see it to the end.

"Oh, so you wanted to bring yourself down to my level only to realize I was far above you in the first place," She responded proudly, "I don’t know whether you’re pathetic or..."

"I won’t sit here and hear you talk to me that way! Do you know the kingdom of Armenia is just as powerful as Erandell?"

"And can’t you see I’m trying to rest my head here? You invited me here in the first place, so do excuse me,"

A loud ear-splitting scream suddenly cut through the hall, and Raziah wouldn’t have opened her eyes for anyone except that she recognized the person behind the voice, and that was when she understood she had made a big mistake!
