"Can I see him?" Raziah asked the second the doctor stepped out of her room. Fabiana had taken care of all his injuries, but Caius was still not awake. She could see some many handprints and cuts on his small body that it had broken her heart as they had brought him back to her. Right now, she was just a snap away from actually breaking into real tears, and that snap occurred when she walked out and saw Raziah standing there.
She didn’t know what came over her when she saw the princess. It just felt like someone had just squeezed the last bit of control she has been holding onto into pieces, and Fabia’s eyes watered and began falling. Aletta had informed her that they had bought sneaked in there to save the boy because Raziah had suddenly felt more insecure about everything, and truly something bad happened.
Aletta had been given her own room, and so has Maria who was planning to stay in Erandell beside her Princess and continue her duties here as the maid. The King’s wife’s personal maid. No one was complaining after all there were bigger problems right now.
Before Raziah had left the cave, she had given the whole place a thorough search while her husband just stared at her from behind. Apart from those symbols she had unlocked, nothing there looked ghastly or suspicious again.
And on their way back walking through the darkness, Raziah kept looking up to check if she would see those glitters that saved her a while ago. Raziah had wanted to warn Aragon about the spot that ended as a cliff just before they get back to the door, but then he would begin to ask questions as to how she survived the fall.
So instead, she walked up front measuring her steps till she was sure the cliff wasn’t up to five steps up front of them. She had already counted her steps while going before, so she was sure they were very close to the cliff now.
"It changes shape... Sometimes." Aragon said to her from behind, and that made sense to her regarding how the rest of them had walked in here without falling into what felt like an abyss. But, how did he know about the place? Has he been here before? Gosh, this husband of hers was so mysterious. Grabbing her hand and going further to intertwine their fingers, Aragon pulled her along and she still found herself walking on solid ground till she finally saw the blinding light from the other side.
The second they came out, of course, everyone easily noticed them due to his presence. The event was still moving much as planned, and Gwenore looked terribly worried as she walked over to them.
"Excuse me, but I have to go and check on Caius and Malcolm." Raziah had whispered to her husband while Gwenore strode closer to them, "Continue to play nice, your Majesty!" She finished just as Gwenore stopped in front of them.
"I’m sort of in a hurry. Our husband will brief you." Raziah stated before disengaging their fingers and ran out of the hall, not noticing how Aragon’s eyes twitched when she said ’our’.
And now, she was here consoling Fabia who was sobbing as quietly as she could inside the room not to bother Caius.
"Did Aletta tell you everything already?" She asked, whispering as low as she could again.
Fabia shook her head, "I don’t think I can bare it for now."
"Here’s what you should bare. I’ll talk to the King about keeping one or two warriors beside Caius at all times because he can be taken away at any time from how I see it. It might not be a gateway pillar that no one noticed before, it could be anything." Raziah explained, glancing at the kid, "Two of them escaped tonight, so we still can’t rest easy. And I know there’s still one more person out there that we didn’t see at all too."
"But... What do they want with Caius?"
"Cerzoan captured one of them and I’m sure he’s going to be interrogated soon. We should get our answers from there." Raziah replied, letting out a tired breath. She wanted to tell Fabia about the strange ability Caius had displayed, but the woman already had a lot on her mind. Caius was the only one left in her family, and Raziah didn’t want to add pepper to her injuries... For now.
Malcolm was awake when she went to see him, and he was doing much better. After spending some time with him, she also left for her room. Surprisingly, the sheets of the bed had been changed which baffled her greatly because no one ever came in here apart from herself and her husband. Did he...?
She instantly dropped her sword beside it, fell on the bed, and rode Into the peaceful slumber called sleep. For now, she wouldn’t think about anything that happened during this long, long night. She would rest in her sleep, and doze like a baby. The night started out great of course, and it was until dawn that she heard her husband come in and creep up the bed. His scent invaded her nostrils as he coaxed her body Into snuggling up against his.
With an inaudible sigh, she fell back asleep.
Aragon wasn’t sleeping. He had this devious smile on his lips as he stared into her face while she inhaled and exhaled softly against his.
"I love you, Aragon Odysseus??" He looked so amused as he repeated her words earlier, "We all know you just said that. It’s fake, but not for long." He mused, caressing her face.
"Oh, and how do you plan to make her reciprocate the feeling?" A Fear-gripping voice that sounded beastly and otherworldly spoke up somewhere around the room, though it was only his Majesty that could hear the voice, and feel the true message it was trying to pass.
"I have my ways," Aragon reply softly without taking his eyes off his tired wife. Another wicked smile tipped his lips, and he dragged his fingers down her arm till he was now rubbing her ring in a circular motion, "Many, Many ways." He drawled smoothly, knowing he already had a few things in store for his stubborn wife.
