King Eleazar and Princess Raziah could be found sitting in the garden. The garden was located somewhere at the palace which was very quiet, and a spot to get your thoughts straight. Right now, both of them could be found sitting under a tree, on a small bench that was always there. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Raziah had gotten the idea that talking about such sensitive and important matters inside the palace where the walls have ears was a bad idea. They still didn’t know who they were dealing with right now, so no chances can be taken. Instead, she had brought the both of them here which was always Empty, except when the maids arrive in the evening to water the garden which was about eight hours from now.
Raziah closed her eyes for a moment. Just when she thought Caius was the only one in danger, another surprise unfolds itself. She didn’t think that someone out there was also after her. Clearly from what she had witnessed at the archery event that afternoon, they had first gone after Gwenore and when Raziah had interfered, they came after her next which later hit Maria.
"I hope you’re not disturbed by the morning sun." Raziah broke the silence-filled environment. They had to walk down through the sun before getting to the bench here, so she was curious as to how he didn’t get roasted the second he stepped in. Plus, it was her way of making him explain to her how he is able to survive in the sun when he was a vampire.
"The sun doesn’t start to affect me till I spend more than two hours out in it. I’m a royal Vampire, remember?" He chuckled softly after saying that, but Raziah only nodded softly. She didn’t want to ask any obvious questions that would let him know that she doesn’t have a wide range of ideologies about the Vampires and witches living in this Era. Who knows? That might become an advantage for him in a way. She can’t trust anyone. But at least from this reply, she picked out that Vampires with Royal blood can survive long in the sun.
"How did the Powerful witch and the subordinates that were called to assist her die?" Raziah asked, curious to know more about the matter on ground.
"Breaking the spell cast upon them was the same as giving your life in exchange. They didn’t realize it until it was too late. Everything about the whole process was shocking till the very end of it, and the witches turned into dust instantly. I don’t know who would go to such lengths just to hide that simple information that they were after you, but I’m sure that person is either incredibly powerful or has a set of strong witches working on their side," King Eleazar replied, leaning back on the chair with a heavy sigh.
"I don’t remember offending anyone so badly to make them want me dead," She stated in a whisper, staring at the tulips dancing softly along with the light breeze. Well her statement just now had an exception, which was if that person had found out who she really is and is now trying to get rid of her too. But why go through all these stages and attempt? and they might just be dealing with the same person who was after Caius.
King Eleazar laughed this time, his deep voice filling the whole space as he responded to her statement, "Being close to a King alone warrants your death for a lot of people. There are so many beings in this world who do not want to see you fortunate and are one way or the other, after your life. Especially now that Agon has finally declared to the whole world that he has a wife...and trust me, after the way you guys collided in front of everyone, you’re even more popular than ever. I doubt if there’s a royal or noble out there that doesn’t knows your name now,"
Raziah kept watching the tulip.
"Moreover, Aragon has to keep reinforcing his scent on you all the time to keep everyone away. Right now I can still sense the spiciness trying to overthrow the citrus,"
Raziah’s eyes narrowed softly at the flower, but her attention was no longer there. What does he mean by that?!
"How is my scent going to overthrow his?" She asked a not-too-obvious question again, hoping he would explain everything to her.
"Maybe it’s because you’ve always locked yourself inside your room back at Naria that even your own brothers had failed to know you, and somehow that kept away all the Vampires and witches. Scent equals taste for Vampires. Apart from the fact that your scent alone can have a horde of Vampires at your tail, you have a rare condition that makes your body temperature cold all the time, which to be honest, I’ve never heard about before. That makes you even more alluring. No one has ever tasted cold blood before, and trust me when I say we are all dying to," He paused, and this time she faced him.
She caught him staring at her neck, which had him shifting his eyes up to meet hers. A smug look danced on his lips, and he shrugged like it was just something very normal for him.
"And the most effective way to keep most vampires and Witches away is for Agon to keep placing his scent all over you. Everyone would know who you belong to, and as long as you don’t stray too far away, where the wind would take away most of his scent from your body, then everyone would always keep their distance."
Now she comprehended why he had been so worried both times she had left the palace without his consent and even kept an eye on her till she got back. Probably the same reason why he surveyed every inch of her body too after she was kidnapped at the market square, and definitely the reason why he always has her snuggling into his embrace every night.
"Tell me, Princess," King Eleazar crossed his arm over his chest, "What exactly do you know about this world you’ve been introduced into?"
